Hi sifu, the aim I post this topic cause I want to know more about LOD and can't find a topic about LOD in LYN forum.

The aim of using LOD are:
1. to bypass the internal amp (LOD to 3.5 TRS Male Audio Jack type) utilise internal DAC but bypass internal Amp so get raw Analog signal prevent double amping.
2. to bypass the internal DAC (LOD to USB 2.0 type A Male Jack type) another external amp require. Total 3 device: audio player, DAC, Amp.

Currently available on:

1. Apple 30-pin dock connector (LOD), iPod and all iDevice (iPad and iPhone)



2. Sony digital media port (18 pin), Walkman® Video MP3 player


3. San Disk Sansa LOD (30 pin), Sansa Fuze


This is 3.5 TRS Male Audio Jack to 3.5 TRS Male Audio Jack are universal but it will be double amping. DAC to Amp also need this type cable.


With this Apple LOD to 3.5 female jack can use above cable or better custom (silver/gold) cable


This is the Sony LOD to 3.5 female jack.


This is the Sansa LOD to 3.5 female jack.

I think this new type of dock connector PDMI http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDMI and it might get LOD soon. Now using by Samsung Galaxy Tab. It has been developed by CEA (Consumer Electronics Association). It is possible Micro USB get Line Out Dock?

Nice! I'm planning to get the older version of Sansa Fuze. And most probably will use LOD as main connector.

Had only ordered 5 units of the FiiO L5 LOD for Sony for August delivery, 2 of them taken, left with 3. If you need the Sansa LOD, you will need to confirm latest by next week in order to get it on the 2nd week.

I don't own Sansa but I know some LYN audiophiles using Sansa.

Currently im using lod made by mr bogac tekman from turkey, pure copper + solid silver with switchcraft plug. Works great for bright iem, it makes the iem a bit warm and smooth while still maintaining the crisp and sparkle.



And sometimes i also use solid silver lod if my ear wanted to listen bright sound sig and auditioning. now waiting for my mundorf gold (pure silver + 1% gold) lod to arrive.

This look no so pro. I doubt on the SQ. To provide power via Mini usb, the 3.5 jack cap sure smaller size.

Nope, no bg caps as im not did not pair it with imod. LOD wwith bg caps can only be used for imod

as im using hippo amp. does upgrading my LOD (jaben connector + standard interconnect) will gives a value heap?

it does affect the sound....
but by how much...
only u can determine...

Added on July 31, 2011, 5:00 amif i'm not mistaken, hippo amp doesn't have volume control right? then don't bother using LOD. because it completely bypass the player's amp, which means volume can't be control by the player. (using ipod > LOD > fiio e11, the e11 acts as the volume control, even when my ipod volume is at 0)

That cable only for Galaxy Tab 7.0, Galaxy S don't use same connector like that.

And yes, if you use LOD, means use the line out, which have higher output than normal headphone jack. It will bypass the internal volume. If you connect LOD straight to you headphone, it will damage your hearing and your headphone.

If you using Fiio E3, don't use with LOD.

Galaxy S Wifi use B type Micro-USB connector found in commonly on all android phone and new model of BB. Samsung put PDMI on Galaxy Tab 7.0 cause they want to make dock keyboard for it. For small PMP motherboard have limited space so they prefer Micro USB.

. It got vol control. Hippo amp + LOD is used not mainly to amplify the sound (compare to internal amp), but to bypass the idevice internal amp, act as vol control hence produce a better sound (symphonica-ed setup) .

oh lol sorry i got confused with Hippo Box.

seriously RSA (Ray Samuels Audio) stuff is good for its price.... take look at the P51 Mustang amp... so little yet so powerful but on the side note... i dont like RSA sound signature (most of them are quite bassy, the last time i tried the protector and thats the only amp from RSA i can accept listening)

This LOD cable utilise/adapt the Dock speaker function without dock just using a cable. Am I right?

correct, think of it as a synthesizer, making the iPod think it is on a speaker dock
