Wow, kinda scary with all the performance talk... I recall years ago on my old machine, running "Battlefield 2", all settings turned down and still pauses occuring. I still remember the developer saying recommended is "dual-core processor with 2Gigs memory" and I was like WTH... now for "Battlefield 3" it is "quad-core with 4Gigs memory".

*I have yet to see any games utilize more than 4Gigs memory. Perhaps this will be the first.

Benchmarks have started to appear for the Beta...

Gone case... bye bye 1920x1080. 21fps min and 23fps max for GTX 460! On an i7-2600k. On an i3, going to be a slide show. Even 560 Ti holds up really well. If performance is an issue regardless of resolution, goodbye PC version for me.

Whoa. Seriously... average 60fps, max 76fps. That gives me an awful lot of hope. Will try to Beta and experiment the settings to see how it goes.

Lol, will come after you if the performance is questionable since you gave me hope! Kidding, kidding... only planning to buy a brand new rig next year (Ivy Bridge + Nvidia 600 Series).

Just have *some* hope. I am planning on maxing out all settings and then lowering reso all the way down and turning off AA if I must. I said the exact same thing in 2007 for "Crysis" - - ended up leaving PC gaming and going console... now I'm back and with an option to opt for console version anytime.

Even its running quite badly now, probably due to low clock quad core and a mid range GPU. Should have import a Sager last year.

I am not impressed, especially with the rubbish Operation Metro.

3rd choice no doubt. A balance in GPU and CPU.

this game required quad core to get good framerate, if use C2D or equal generation CPU the framerate will be suffer

CHANGE THE MOBO
even HM61 at RM189 can do the job
biostar tends to get problematics
normal Kingston value ram should be enough

I did say 1st choice. Focus on the CPU 1st, you can get better(and cheaper) GCs in future

I wonder if AMD Phenom™ II X4 20 is enough together with 8GB and HD6950.

i dont trust the benchie, my 4850 512MB is very much playable at 1920x1080 and not like some slide show as they said.

I am not familiar with these stuff. i can get almost same price for three of them. but how well can the first GPU performs for bf3? i would like to go for high settings if possible.

From the minimum requirement, the only thing failing me is the OS doh.gif . I'm still living in the win XP era.
