You need to ensure that your cellular data (either Edge or EDGE & 3G) is switched on before you can switch on the personal hotspot. Follow the instruction once the personal hotspot is switched on and you should be able to connect your Alien thingamajig with the iPhone 4

I think what dvlzplayground is asking if the PC can use the Wifi connection of the iPhone (not the iPhone's celullar connection). I'm not sure if this kind of "bridging" is available via the iPhone. I haven't tried it by the way. The personal hotspot for the iPhone can only be activated if the Celullar data/3G is enabled so I have a suspicion that it's specific for the Cellular/3G data sharing.

What battery drain issue are you having? I find that 4.3.3 is fine (I've installed some Winterboard theme so that has cause the battery to drain a bit faster but when I didn't have it before, 4.3.3 was fine)

I think it has something to do with your battery dying. You may need to look at the option of getting a new battery.

ALL iPhone sold by the Operators in Malaysia is factory unlocked so you can buy from Maxis/Celcom/Digi and use it with any Operators you like.

There's a thread somewhere about iPhone repair shops, you might want to search the thread. Maybe there's a shop in Penang which can do what you need to do to replace the battery.

That's not too bad. Hope this time your battery last okay. Who did you send the iPhone 3Gs to? Could help some other Penang user if he/she needs the same service.

I think this Gevey thing is a bit of a mystery. I believe that you cannot use 3G with Gevey so you are out of luck my friend. Check out Gevey ultra. Maybe that one will allow 3G?

Do this once a month. Let it drain the battery until 0% and the charge till it's full. That's my method of keeping the battery healthy.

You will know because the phone will automatically shutdown and you won't be able to switch it on. And once you plug it in the charger, it will show an empty battery being recharged and it will take 2-3 minute before the Apple logo appears

No not really. That would be too much of a hassle. I don't needbthe phone to be constantly at 100%. Even at 40% I don't worry too much about it.

A Lithium-ion battery (especially the Apple version) charges to 80% within an hour and then probably another hour to achieve the extra 20% for the 100% charge.

So the battery seems to be responding like it should.

I doubt any dock will work with a bumper. If you still want to use the bumper with the dock, you'd probably need to use the AUX auxiliary connection which then defeats the purpose of you buying the Dock

Not that I know of. This is one of the reason I don't use the bumpers anymore (just a screen protector at the back and front of the device).

Did you do this --> delete the "corrupted" backup in iTunes which can be found here

iTunes>Preferences(under the edit menu if using Windows)>Devices...your backups are listed here. You can highlight them, then hit the delete button

If you have done the above and it's still not working, then something is wrong somewhere ....

Is this the exact error you're getting

"iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the backup could not be saved on the computer.

or is the error message says something like this

"iTunes cannot back up the iPhone because an unknown error occured (-20)"

What does a function test do?
