From what I can see, these are broken marble. Not the most expensive type but it is nice. Personally, I think you will be OK to do the grinding and polishing and it will be quite new. Of course, deep stains and cuts or scratch still can't be fixed. You really need to show a real picture to be able to comment accurately. If it is just lacklustre, you can make it shinny again.

I kept my marble floor when I am doing my renovation. You could save the money and spend it elsewhere. Like I said, unless your marble floor is in really bad shape, no point changing to others. Well, except you decided to change it to compressed marble or compressed quartz which are tougher and yet has the natural stone look

This is call broken marble. I was looking for this broken marble last weekend, cost about RM 300 / ton, installation is about RM 2 - RM3, and polish for old floor is about RM 2.00 per square feet.

It can shine good after polish.

As others have mentioned what you have is "broken marble". Basically these are odd/leftover marble pieces which have been assembled together for the floor.

It is not expensive marble as compared to those which have been cut and polished into tiles. Anyway, it is still a kind of natural marble and it functions just fine as a floor. Yes it can be polished.

If it works fine and looks fine to you then keep it.

this broken marble is worth to keep instead of replacing with tiles as it has the cooling effect which tiles don't have.

marble and granite are natural stone which can be polished to make it looks new and shine after several years, while tiles cannot be polished.

But marble is quite porous. All the polishing and grinding will not help if there are deep stain or scratches.

If you are not fussy, you can retain the marble flooring. Save you some money

Marble is a natural stone. As time goes, it will become dull and there are bound to have scratches thus loses its shine.
To revive them, all it needs is some cleaning and polishing to restore it to its original shine. After that you could crystallize the floor. This will bring a mirror like shine to the marble. The crystallization process will also provide a film to the surface which helps to preserve the colour and brightness of the natural marble.

If nothing wrong, just keep the marble, you may need maintained it after 3-4 years to re-polish again .
But normally will not process after the first time polish, as most your stuff already in place and you will too lazy to move thing around to allow the polish, which will make your place wet.

Need to be caustion is Cool water, which may leave stain behind...
