The 4th Service at Perodua Servicing cost a whopping amount of RM376.67 with the things to be changed as recommended below, as extracted from, http://www.perodua.com.my/service/service-...1300cc-facelift

1. Engine Oil (Semi Syn API SM 4L).....................RM86.00
2. Element S/A (Oil Filter)...................................RM12.95
3. Air Filter ........................................................RM38.00
4. Transmission Oil GL-4 80W (2.20L)..................RM29.22
5. Spark Plug (D55D) (4 pcs)..............................RM52.00
6. Radiator Coolant (2 bottles)............................RM25.00
7. Gasket Drain Plug..........................................RM 4.80
8. Brake Fluid (2 bottles)....................................RM20.00
9. Battery Water ...............................................RM 2.70
10.Labour Charge.............................................RM61.00
11.Labour Charge for Replace Radiator Coolant...RM11.00
12.Labour for Brake Bleeding System.................RM28.00

+ 6% tax

Total...............................................................RM376.67

I wonder if I can buy all these stuffs on my own and change them at a local workshop ?

Is it recommended to that also actually ?

I can see alot of cut-throat price.

Air filter - This can be bought at tesco for RM20
Spark Plug - This can last at least 80,000 km. Dont really need to change
Brake fluid - depends.Do you feel severe brake fade? If not, leave it
Transmission oil - Should be changed since its a vital component

You can specify what parts to change and what not to. They wont question you. Ask them for the full quotation during servicing and slash off items that you feel are not required

Labour fee for brake bleeding - WTF, should be included in RM50 labour charge

Speaking bout that,my viva is almost due for 4th service too. I bought a tesco perodua genuine filter for RM18.90 paper type. Performs and identical to original. Why spend RM50 for something similar.

i think the price is ok...for SC service

if u service outside...warranty will be void

I using iridium spark plug RM170, can last 100k km

I will change it at 60k km, toyota coolant 2 litre Rm20 only

7. Gasket Drain Plug
No need change, highly believe SC wont change it too...

either u jack the car or customized a small ramp...
for me, i use a small ramp instead as free hassle to jack up the car...

the tools included wrench (open drain plug), oil filter wrench (can buy it at spare part shop), steel bar for oil filter wrench (can buy it at hardware shop) and customize used bottle in order to pour engine oil in easier method... but the most difficult is the part to lay under the car engine bay as have limited space to reach the drain plug... the reasons i change engine oil is bcos i want to drain MOST of the used engine oil by overnight, i dont want mix the used and new engine oil... as the SC, they will screw back the drain plug as fast as possible to finish work in the shortest time...

anyway, unless u dont mind the warranty issues u can buy ur own parts for necessary services only and service outside which is cheaper and faster than SC...

here the parts i used for DIY... smile.gif

RM400 would be the roughly price for a major service

yeah i think they are marking the gasket drain plug. if they see that theres inconsistency with that marking then know that you have serviced your car outside and void your warranty.

thats why they change it every time. thats just what i think.

unfortunely SC wont do marking on drain plug after changed engine oil service... i think warranty will void if u exceed the recommended service interval (either 3 months+ / 5000km), so you wont have chances to service at outside...

anyway, u can get the drain plug gasket from spare part shop also and change it when necessary...

coz i see yours is slightly more expensive than what perodua has to offer, and MyVi facelift now only requires services every 10,000 km within 6 months after the 3rd service...

bcos SC selling higher price on their engine oil, or should say selling higher price for ALL spare parts... for the same things, u may get cheaper from outside...

also, the p2 engine oil grouping level may no that good enough compare to other brand, such as fully syc engine oil can sell RM100++ too but of cos the chemical material contained in engine oil no that much... like the shell petrol between normal RON 97 and V-power (Ron 97 too with additional chemical)

Hi. I'm using Myvi SE 1.5 model. My mileage now is 82000km. I guess it now due for it next major service. What should I change? Do I need to change timing belt or is it myvi using chain belt? I go through the manual but it doesn't specify it. FYI I no longer servicing it in perodua SC. Felt the price is a bit cekik darah.

I think full service at Perodua for few hundred bucks including materials is reasonable and surely all original parts guaranteed.
For me I DIY a few things and let Perodua do up the rest which I don't want to do.
DIY myself.
1) Replace brake fluid annually (I use Bosch DOT4) I believe the original was DOT 4 and not DOT 3 judging from yellow color. I do NOT bleed brake fluid, I replace by pumping everything out at 4 sides.
2) Replace air filter. Buy outside original at RM18 only.
3) Replace with Toyota Long Life Coolant, RM20/bottle. every 2-3 years replace.
4) Replace spark plugs at 25k KM, check and re-gap at 10k. Buy NGK outside RM37 only.
5) Service and inspect the front and rear brakes. Mine still ok.
6) Already due - replace power steering fluid. They use ordinary ATF Dexron 3. Easy, Suck out from bottle and replace new, do it twice.
I instruct Perodua only to replace oil and AT oil (when necessary) and whatever their 10-20 point check.

Actually all these jobs can be learnt and done by anyone physically fit. I'm approaching 60 and I'm still at it. In those days, some of the above jobs were detailed out in owner's manual. Common sense tell you if its detailed out in manual, with the right tools, any owner can do it. Now there's Youtube, look up some maintenance jobs and learn from there. Don't say dunno how to do or its blardi filthy job. smile.gif

gearbox oil - outside got (so buy outside lo)
air filter - outside also got. so buy lo

engine oil filter and engine oil - i normally buy from perodua..

brake oil - just go bosch dot 4 lo

brake pad- buy outside also

aircond filter - outside cheaper so outside lo

for total, i dont know how much... but labor cost if service this all should be less than 100

Don't say dunno how to do or its blardi filthy job.  smile.gif

Trust me, its all the same procedure for those jobs.
During my time, Castrol GTX was only RM17. Mobil 1 just entered the market at about RM60 something. Spark plugs were RM2.50 each.
As for common type spark plugs, they remain exactly the same engineering design except for sized down. Cost reduction, that's all, nothing improved.
There's no harm done to replace the oil yourself. I used to drain the oil when back from work and let it drain to next morning, just install new filter, plug the sump, fill in new oil, go to work. 5 minutes job.

I wonder if I can buy all these stuffs on my own and change them at a local workshop ?

Is it recommended to that also actually ?

you may do that but when it comes time for warranty, they have the right to say that you did not service your car with them and therefore better check if it will void the 5 years warranty that you have...

Last time I saw the price for the ATF is RM46.20, labor for ATF change was part of the overall labor cost.
Since my wife' car is also out of warranty, am planning to buy and change ATF outside. What brand shall I look if I want the same used in SC?
They never mention the ATF brand. For the engine oil its easy because I always brought back the excess with the container.

One more thing, according to service manual, ATF is recommended to be changed every 40kkm.
But why SC always replace it at every 20kkm for my wife' car?
Worse is, in the service record I found that they once change it after 10kkm.
So lucky for them back then I was not a husband yet to check all this.
Same with the spark plug, ridiculously change every 20kkm?

Well Im not in position to advise you this and that since it's your car. My myvi is still being serviced by SC since 2008. I brought my car once to outside garage to change to Torco oil but the place is not convenient la. Air minum tarak, majalah kalau ada pun rabak, no newspapers, no wifi or even TV. Even the display gallery pun takde to kill the time. Worse as I am a Muslim, place to perform solat pun takde. At SC, i got them all.

Price is a bit expensive I dont mind, people wanna get paid too. Theyre not that expensive.

Just service yourself. Get the parts from spare part shops. Changing engine oil, spark plugs, transmission oil, radiator coolant is very easy.
I think you can opt to pass several changes as listed like the sparkplugs, coolant, brakefluid. All the price for parts are expensive and on top of that their labour is also very very expensive.

Standard for SC kind of work. Of course you can get it cheaper outside. But if you want peace of mind then SC is the way to go.

Absorber mounting - RM60
Absorber front - RM260
Mounting set - RM350
Radiator fan - RM80

Total for parts (original) - RM750.

Workmanship - RM350 (estimate)

Total RM1100

This is what you can expect if done outside. Note the parts can be cheaper but I am showing prices for original perodua brand.

Another note is to be careful because lots of fake parts out there.

So for you price done outside, it's considered on the medium side.
