Hi guys, before I build a CustoMac to install OS X Yosemite, is that suggested that I have to own 2 hard drives (one for Yosemite, another for Windows)?
Can I just utilize 1 hard drive for these two operating systems like a dualboot?

Thank you
*
Install windows first.
leave a portion of the hard drice unallocated.
after wards, boot into Yosemite installer and assign the space for yosemite install.
it shall work.
make sure your windows ain't UEFI edition.

Hmm. Too bad my motherboard was UEFI edition. However, I am trying to install the Yosemite OSX with Yosemite Zone. Anyhow, does it affecting the installation if without the graphic card / with Intel HD Graphic 4600?

CPU: Intel Core I5 4460
MOBO: ASrock B85m pro 4
RAM: GSKill AEGIS 8GB DDR3 1600mhz
HDD: WD 1TB Caviar Blue HDD
PSU: FSP HEXA+ 550W PSU
Chasis: Aerocool xpredator x1 Black Edition
Network: Tplink TL-WDN4800
GC: Asus GTX660Ti
*

even if your mobo is UEFI based, you can choose to install normal Windows. lol

At the moment no. Still relying on the TurboBoost at 4.4Mhz. Though, been spending alot of time in the Windows OS to play Shadow of Mordor and Dragon Age Inquisition. tongue.gif Used MSI afterburner to kick the GPU up a notch or two.
*
4.4Mhz, yeahhh
Did you overclock using the multiplier? I'm currently having 4670k in my rig and I havent OC, lol

i wondering if any oc of ram/cpu done at bios level will make the hack unstable or not.
he must be a veteran modder, wiring up the display is difficult.
i tried to do it for imac g1 couldn't get it to work, someone recommended me to replace the crt with notebook lcd, yet to try.
*
iMac G1? You kidding me? laugh.gif

QUOTE(wanna be hi-tech @ Dec 30 2014, 06:09 PM)
Yeah ....the dremel junkie mod.... nod.gif i did look at it in the past, as i have a semi faulty g4 hanging around in my room, staring at me everyday ! As soon as i saw the dremel junkie mod, it caused a rage in my blood to attempt the hack, but time, the most crucial essence of a mod....was lacking. As i did not wish to simply dimantle the g4 and leave it halfway, decided to not to engage it for the moment.

Have u tried the mod ?
*
I do not have any vintage Macs at the moment so I cannot attempt the mod. wiring the display is super hard and I think even with a schematics there's still a lot to do.

True. Just time and the urge alone is not enough, i believe such mods come to existence with much experince..

I can do it as a holiday project next year, if I have the funds la. It's possible to finish the mod for around Rm2k I think

No. I am just relying on the Turbo Boost for now. I have to settle my cooling first as the Noctua fans are not cutting it. At 4.4MHz, Prime95 causes the CPU to heat up to 95 degrees which is way above my comfort zone.

4.4Mhz? It makes no sense! rclxub.gif

Sell/Trade your graphics card for a NVIDIA in Garage Sales. Plus NVIDA is more reliable flex.gif

thinking about it.
there was another video this guy actually move the screen and internals from a notebook to the mac.
this video cannot see the internals  icon_question.gif
*
This video is not a hackintosh and it's just a mac mini inside it.
Hackintosh is definitely cheaper. I recommend you build an m-itx i3 and put a 15" 1080P display in it.

the difficult part is the input and power between mac and pc.

i had one of these...
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

last year bought it cheap coz its condemn liao only display working
my friend help me to hook up the display to a matx mobo and psu
dunno which component fail kinda fried everything

so moving the internals from a laptop/mac mini sounds easier than building from pc parts.
coz the laptop lcd, mobo and psu are all compatible less likely a problem.
*
That's A G5/First gen Intel iMac
Of course it's hard sweat.gif
G3 is big as fucuk and its much easier to disassemble PSU and extend the 240V input power port to the stock port. Also IO ports is much easier to be extended as those pins are visible and easily solder-able to existing ports. The rest can be hid at the CRT space where it used to be. On the G4/G5, you have to use an external power supply.

I am guessing probably the G5 screen is still alive but the connectors are roasted and we're not Ben Heck, we can't open it up and rewire stuff  laugh.gif
Sold it on ebay.
G3 was in working condition when put into cold storage, haven't booted it for years.
Dunno if it is still working or not.
Would love to do the LCD+Hackintosh mod but I am not too good with the wiring stuff  doh.gif

Currently I have....
Imac G3
Powermac G5 Dual
Powermac G5
Powermac G4

all awaiting heart transplants  laugh.gif  doh.gif
*
PM powermac G5 case price, thank you notworthy.gif
Also G3 should be no prob if not much dust. Also hard drive not damaged la

As you can see the video above, 3 years in storage still boots.
One of my favourite youtubers for classic computers, should check it out if you like that too!

Ohw.. U sold it! I am looking for a semi faulty unit... Wherein e lcd is still fine.

U have a good collection of ppcs'. Quite difficult to come across individuals who still hang on to those!  I created a thread ... Calling upon pre intel mac owners to post their yesteryear mean machines....  Why dnt u post post a few pics of ur ppc macs... smile.gif
*
PPC macs are awesome except that they can't handle daily tasks anymore. Otherwise, it's still good for like audio making and light stuffs.
Again, if you like PPC macs, you should probably check out IMNC's YouTube Channel. Has some really awesome challenge on PPC and upgrades! His PPCs are literally maxed out!
Here's the link to his channel: It's My Natural Colour YouTube channel.

not for saleĀ  brows.gif
but even if it works can't really do much with it, even for browsing internet nowadays it can't cut it.
g3 would probably work and boot but i remember it was upgraded to Tiger so probably on it in the morning and by the time i get back from work it would be ready to useĀ  laugh.gif
i lurk around lyn/mudah/lelong for people selling their classic macs for my projects.

g3 in cold storage

g5 dual, back in the day this was probably a beast

g4 ppc, this was totally gutted when i bought it.

i've another g5 i just acquired will probably have a fire sale when i gut it later.

Why you put your G4 PPC upside down? vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif
G3+Tiger=G3 smashed into pieces by owner due to frustration. It barely handles Google even on 10.2.
Yes, G5 can't cut it at all for daily usage nowadays. I wanted the case for modification because don't forget what thread we are in. sweat.gif rclxms.gif
