Newbie to DSLR. Just got meself a d7000 kit and still going thru the manual. my dream was to get a nikon when was young but could not afford. After busy with other commitment, finally nod.gif

Need advice, I need to get either a 35mm or 50mm for regular day to day shots of kids at home. am confused which lens can be autofocus. saw some 1.8G or 1.8D, i think which is below rm800 as compare to 1.4. need to ask if i get the D (cheaper), would it have autofocus? I know the G got autofocus.

Thanks ya.

Why not get familiar with your kit lens first before prime? What reason(s) support your decision to get the prime? Care to share out?

Thanks Ya. so mine with internal motor can used both, can one say the G is with motor inside and the D does not. but both will work well with my d7000?

OK, basic facts first.

Auto-Focus will work if EITHER body OR lens has motor built-in.

In your situation, your D7000 HAS motor built-in.

Therefore, EITHER G (with motor) OR D (without motor) will WORK on your DSLR with AUTO-FOCUS.

So, you're not worried about getting the G or D.

And if you're asking why people still recommend G even thou you could have get the cheaper version D, it's because G is able to provide sharper image compared with the D. Nothing to do with the motor built-in, but because G has a better glass construction.
Have you familiarize with your 18-105 kit lens?

hahaha.....sifu is sifu....after i send, forgot to ask is the G more expensive because of the internal motor only and not in term of better pictures. ok, will look for bargain hunter in the WTS corner.

Thanks again.

I want a screen protector for my new d7000, google all turn out the GGCS product. Went to a photo shop saw a clear film selling like rm100 !

Have anyone try using car tint film, like 3m , v-kool or the unbreakable tint on lcd screen since ours is not a touch screen. tot of getting it from the shop(leftover) and DIY cutting it to shape.

think it will work?

Sifu, am still on manual with my d7000. I play around with the kit lens and setting in AUTO. notice in LCD view, taking fast picture inside home is not possible. I dunno what I changed but still in AUTO mode, from the viewfinder, i managed to get kids to jump and snap at crystal sharp image. Now i just bought 50mm 1.8g, i did again play around but now I cannot get that freeze moment of them jumping clear.

I can hear previously the shutter sound was just click sound. Now with 50mm lens, I hear a lag, like 2 clicks.

can anyone help if put in AUTO, is there some adjustment can be done or its full auto all the way. Else to capture fast moving action, can please teach me how to set and will save in U1 or U2.

thanks so much.

Is this possible ? Hook external hard disk to d7000 and record video using the external hard disk memory.

D7000 owner, what kind of setting do i need to make all clear, dept of field as keep getting bokeh(i know a lot of us love it including me) for a 50mm 1.8G. Am still new to this camera. I can do it with the kits lens but not 50mm.

Thanks.
