Ekk, i thought DX body pair with DX lens = no crop? Guess i need to re-consider my current setup in my mind again. @_@

crop factor is based on the sensor, not lens.
35mm on DX or FX, the image u are looking at thru the viewfinder is still the same size.
just that with smaller DX sensor, u see less of the sides etc of the image, so your field of view looks like a 50mm, that is the crop factor.
DX lenses are made specially for DX bodies, as they use less glass that only needs to cover the size of the DX sensor, therefore making production slightly cheaper since less glass.

keazyc is right. dx lens will be no crop for dx body. it will be crop when fx lens on dx body..

you are wrong.
35mm f/1.8 which is for DX, and 35mm f/2
which is a FX lens, both give the same 52.5mm field of view on DX bodies cos of the sensor.
the f/1.8 is cheaper cos it uses less glass.

im actually lazy to explain i detail.. when fx lens attach to dx body the image view will be same as dx lens. but with the fx lens on dx body its actually cropped..as you guyz said, dx is cheaper bcoz its less glass and why fx lens is more expensive? bcoz it using more glass.. so more glass on dx body, the dx body only use part of the glass to capture image. that is what i meant.. if still dont understand i will draw u guyz a picture when im free..

I hope you do not confuse vignetting and crop...
Aiks... You forgot the AF-S 35mm f/1.4.  biggrin.gif
If he meant vignetting, yes. Using a DX lens on FX body produces vignetting which is not too bad. Look for samples of using the 35mm f/1.8 on FX body.

taikor.. dont confuse my point ler.. i bever mention dx lens on fx body.. that is vignetting i understand..

i will draw you guyz a picture later.. using phone to online very hard to type..

I used it before I sold it since it got very little time on the camera. It's small and compact. Nice for street photography. Never tried it on FX body though. Should be an ok lens if you can get it cheap.

Looking back at my old pics, it was very prone to flare from the limited usage that I had. Just have to be careful when shooting into the source of light during day or night time.

I think if one is looking at 3rd party wide engles, the Tamron 16-28mm f/2.8 is interesting. The design and shape looks a lot like the nikon's 14-24mm f/2.8. Don't know if it already available here or not...
As I recall, guitar collection is also very expensive.  biggrin.gif
That's true. DX mode on D700/D3/D3s is 5.2 MP. I lived with 4MP before on the D2Hs.

Anyway, while you can still use a DX lens on FX body in FX mode (not in auto crop DX mode) at certain focal lengths (usually at longer ends), you need to stop it down a lot to kill away the vignetting problem in the corners. Even then, the quality in the sides will be mushy because DX glasses are only optimised in the centre portion.
Used to remember that the 18-70 kit lens were plenty in the market when everybody had a D70.  biggrin.gif

I personally will not buy 3rd party lens anymore.. Have a bad experience on 3rd party lens.. bad build quality, front/back focusing issue, slow focusing, difficult to focus & etc.. I owned tamron 18-270 & 17-55 and sold it off after few months.. Now i would rather save more money and stick back to orignal.. I would say for 3rd party brand Tokina is the best.. but again, TTL will not be accurate in wide open..

this problem has been discussed in LYN before. I do not know how to explain in technical way. As for my understanding a normal 220/240v fluorescents are on 50/60Hz which means it's blinking 50 or 60 times a second.. Base on your pics EXIF you're shooting on 1/200s means your shutter is faster than the blinks.. In human eye we can't capture the "blinks" that fast so we will see only white light in our eye.

example below

Let's brake the 1 second to 5 which means we only see the first 10 blinks in fluorescent light

1/5 second
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
1st blink ---> 2nd blink --> 3rd blink --> 4th blink --> 5th blink --> 6th blink --> etc
___^___________^___________^____________^
Yr 1st Shot! 2nd shot 3rd shot 4th shot

1st shot the light is white... 2nd shot the light is white.. 3rd shot the light started to turns to green and 4th shot you got most green.. because between the blink the light will turn to green...

above is just an example you might shot in between 20th --> 21st blink..

That is why SB-900 flashlight provide a green gel filter for shooting under fluorescent..

If you the green disappear try to shoot slower than 30/s.. it will have enough time to capture 25-30 blinks so the green will not that obvious..

correct me if i'm wrong..

apologize for my poor english grammar..
