about the back n front focussing issues on the sigma, would it be ok if i just use manual focus just like the carl zeiss...

speaking of carl zeiss anywhere in Malaysia I could test them?
*
You can test mine, but its on a different mount tongue.gif

Hard 2 find Carl Zeiss for Nikon/Canon mount except if specially ordered.

I know one dude brought a D3x and bought a 35mm f1.4 Carl Zeiss MF lens from a shop before.

You have sufficient time to set your Manual settings or one exposure setting for the entire event? blink.gif

How about using the flash for fill-flash, TTL and TTL-BL as well? Did you ever face SB-900 reaching its overheat limits in your event shooting experience?

My SB-900 already get overheated after multiple exposures at f/5 ~ f/7.1 and I'm getting worry if I continuously reaching its limit will cause the unit to be faulty sweat.gif
*
Well, if you rajin, can set to M and slowly change.

If not, can set a A mode and just adjust the aperture.

For me, I let the Flash on TTL, let it decide itself while I manually tweak the aperture.

It's about whether "rajin" or not, but rather "sempat tak?" in a event where movements change swiftly and required to capture the moments at best possible.
When I shoot 6~7 shots in a short period of time on group photo or quick movement of the event @ f/5 ~ f/7.1 ISO800 (inside house), my SB-900 will reach its max heat on TTL or TTL-BL sweat.gif

Well, the aperture value automatically goes to f/5 ~ f/7.1 when I use Programmed Auto mode.
*
Well, if you are good, using M all the way is no problem.

At least, for me. Just need some tweak here and there but generally, if its an important shoot, just use A for safety.

Wow, one year with kit lens only. Ok ok... that should make sense tongue.gif

Well, if you never try any bokeh lens before and you wanted to achieve such effect, the 50mm f/1.8G will feel like another new horizon for you when you're experiencing it nod.gif

Sometime, not everything related to skill although it is one big chunk of overall laugh.gif

Like kayshoun said, you should be on the right pick for 50mm f/1.8G instead of 35mm f/1.8G for bokehness.
*
Want bokeh lens, go 70-200/85G straight..

Bokeh till die =,=

Choose the focal length you like/comfortable rather than getting a lens for its bokeh ability, unless of course, you used it before and like it.

OK, let's get this back on track.

Can we start with how to get accurate skin tone? Some of my photos taken in an event recently turned out to be yellowish like kena sunset sun sad.gif

I tried to use spot metering, but then it'll overblown the photo. Any guide and tips on this?
RM990 @ Foto Selangor. May able to get further discount but then it lies on your negotiation skill.

Flash gel or Kelvin WB manual adjust. Flash gel should be easier, at least in my opinion. Kelvin WB takes quite some time to learn.

Hmm.. I never judge by skin color (in post processing) I usually try reference the eye color, slight milky white and the skin I just leave it. But I see many of my friends like to make the skin a lighter a few shades, esp for female portraits.  blink.gif  got to learn how to to that one of these days...

Is it a common prob for D7000 or just happens on u? Im planning to get a D7000 soon...
*
Not common, but known issues with D7000.

Flickr forum got discussed bout this spot oil problem. Depends on luck, I guess.

do correct me if I'm wrong smile.gif
*
Yea, but sadly this is not maintenance or sensor cleaning.

Guys, I got a technical question to ask here.

Does the focus alignment on the lens and the body can get misaligned when used over time and need to be recalibrated? Does it happen even on first party lenses too?

I'm figuring out whether is it due to the change of my techniques recently that caused more of photos getting slightly blur recently, I'm using focus and recompose quite a lot lately. I feel a lot of my earlier shots
are much sharper.... hmm.gif

Thanks in advance. smile.gif
*
Try reducing your focus and recompose and see whether it changes or not?

Guys, is it worth upgrading from D90 to D7000 now? Knowing Nikon DSLR cycle, D7000 replacement will only come next year… and if D800 comes out in October, I still can't afford it ;P
*
If you look at this point of view, might as well buy D3s then? It refresh quite slow compared to other nikon products.

How?

Logically, D7000 is good, and there should be no reason to worry bout D8000.
