Get urself 2 lightstands or tripods..
And get a softbox..
Ohya color gel also..

Strobist, also u need wireless trigger if ur planning to do strobist.. Sometimes the sensor can't pickup the pop-up flash's signal, especially if u put the flash behind the subject u're shooting..

Any brand should be good..
Phottix, octopus, even yongnuo got their wireless trigger..
For 1+1 (1 trigger, 1 receiver) there's a lot of triggers below RM200..

I'm using the usual, standard PT-04NE; got it from econware at lelong.my for RM105

For me d7000 is close to a predecessor rather than replacement for the d90..
They upgrade the video, add functions and better processor..

But the numbering's a bit haywired maybe because they refuse to use d90s as the name..
Or, so they can add some new cool feature and call it d7100. Who knows? Its marketing strategy....

Therefore, is there any or what are the differences between a pan-head and a ball-head? What's the approximately setup for such package from Manfrotto?
*
ballhead is something like this; the 'hinge' is in a ball shape so u can tilt any degree u want~

3-way-pan head is something like this, usually used by video-man for smooth pan~

As I also mentioned before, I know many people who never touch their DSLR anymore, it's more wasted that way, what's the point in getting a DSLR when they will not be using it or even lazy to take it out from the closet.
*
sweat.gif me too rarely use my SLR anymore~ kept inside drybox most of the time..
use my camera phone only~ whistling.gif

QUOTE(nivlanauk @ Sep 3 2011, 02:23 AM)
But if you're getting nikkor DX or a lens made for crop sensor, then the focal length stated IS the effective focal length.
*
So the kitlens 18-105 is actually 18mm to 105mm?
Not 27-158mm?

QUOTE(Agito666 @ Sep 3 2011, 03:27 AM)
40mm? new lens ar? wait let me check...  unsure.gif

*okay it is a new lens.
*
Yup new lens.. Macro 40mm f2.8.. Not yet available in stores here I think.. But for Dx then its a great length; in between the 35mm and 50mm

Wrong. Focal length stated is based on 35mm sensor size even if the lens is designed for DX only.

Okay a relief cause for a while there I think Nikon suddenly make lens that are Dx based focal length..
Then the 10.5mm is waaaaaay more than fish eye hahahahaha

Its not like i need the lens for job or what, photography just a hobby for me atm,

Thinking of buying some lens, but scare if i spend, new lens come out old lens will get obsolete, can any sifu give advice? Or there's no reason to wait.
*
Don't worry lens are very long lasting, provided that u use it 'wisely'
Once u get the lens u like ie 85mm f1.8 then when a new lens ie 85mm f1.2 comes out then if u think u need the extra aperture then sell ur lens; and buy the new one. Lenses' price are very stable..

QUOTE(celciuz @ Sep 4 2011, 11:09 AM)
I prefer tele ends more than wide tongue.gif 85mm on FF is just nice for me. Altho I want a 24mm as well to balance out my prime range =/ but pricing is er...
*
I sold my 50f/1.8 and 50f/1.4 and go for 85f/1.8 ho3

QUOTE(Everdying @ Sep 5 2011, 12:20 AM)
yea, but its rectangle viewfinder.
D2x even tho DX has a nice round viewfinder.
would also take those eye cup addons nicely that ppl like to put on D90 / D7000 without causing vignetting thru the viewfinder.
*
QUOTE(vearn27 @ Sep 5 2011, 12:25 AM)
Googled. Yeah, D700 has a round type viewfinder. Any advantage over rectangle type?
*
Yup, the round viewfinder makes it easy(easier) for the eyes to rest and it cuts off 'more' ambient light. Just my 2cents after using it..
Shashinki is selling the set for rm150 it comes in 3 stages of device..

QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Sep 5 2011, 03:52 AM)
Hey guys i was wondering why would nikon make a 14-24 f2.8 for? Most photographers dont shoot lanscapes wide open.. or do they?

hehe still new wink.gif
*
I don't know about landscape but for wedding/events then the fast f2.8 sure comes in handy

The mentioned can be attached on D7000 too without vignetting? What are the combo required? huh.gif
*
I don't know about d7000
But on the d90/d300s it doesn't vignette
Its made of 3 components but Shashinki now selling them as bundle already..

Link: http://shashinki.com/shop/nikon-rubber-eye...5pro-p-182.html

If the viewfinder holder of d7000's the same with d90 then this should fit! RM145 only..

I buy 2 sets, each for the d300s and d90 and both doesn't give vignetting..

QUOTE(vearn27 @ Sep 8 2011, 10:42 PM)
Guys, which flash trigger recommend to use with? Will need to fire two flashes altogether.
*
If u're using Nikon's SB's then use the popup flash for CLS can also..
Or enable the SU-4 on the flashes

Btw, anyone using the discontinued Tokina 16-50 ATX f/2.8 here? Any comments?
