Agito, I need some advice please, and I know you're the person to ask.

I bought a Nikon D60 a couple of years ago for my first "nice" but beginner's camera.
It came with two lenses. One is (I'm guessing, I may be slightly off) 18-55, the other is 55-200 (or close to that).
I'd like to know first if you recommend having different lenses with different purposes or, if you prefer to have one lens that can do it all?
I've been thinking of getting a lens to replace my two, one that would go from like 15(?)-300 or so.
Can you recommend a lens that is good quality (not cheap junk that will easily break or stop working after a short time), but also not crazy expensive?
I know you guys have and use your cameras so it would be nice to have some advice on what would be best.

If it matters, I mostly take pictures of:
Flowers
People
Scenery (bridges, mountains, trees, etc)
Pets
And other stuff like that. Not sure if that'll matter but figured it couldn't hurt to give you an idea.

get a point and shoot, looking at the amount of years and ur fren still hasnt known anything about dslr, i guess a PnS suits him best. try those superzooms from canon, they'll work fine for your friend.

to be honest, is quite full or enough. at first, it looks small portion for me but it's quite filling when i finished it. 4 hours past and im still not yet hungry

more and more addicted to my d5100 especially the image quality..

now awaiting sandisk 16gb class 10 to be delivered and hunting for Crumpler 5MDH bag

need to start "RTFM"(Unix language) to know more the settings especially ISO and exposure..

is there any lens that good for taking food picture? looking below RM600

btw, d5100 body easy to get scratch? i worried my fingernails will scratch the body

D90 still worth buying?

looks like u used to this practicing..

that's why i wondering how to take nice picture(test every setting until i'm satisfied with it) without letting people waiting for me. 

i tried my friend's Canon 550D before and it looks crispy and sharp in LCD but when view it from computer, the color washed out...

I have a D70 too, yes the LCD size is very small. Force me to learn all the skills without much help from LCD. Very suffer because when bring back for post processing then realize picture is blur etc etc. This forces me to take pictures more carefully and i got to know my camera much better.  Nowadays after i upgrade did not really depend on the LCD.
I still keep the D70 with a 50mm, carries it to wherever i go.

Hello everybody. I am new here. Just bought a D5100. I had took some pictures with M mode. However I am still not familiar with the setting between aperture and shutter speed. What I have done was zoom in/out and took pictures based on the "brightness line" which the indicator remain around 0. Also still unable to control the focus points and etc.

Sometimes when taking pictures at low light environment or maybe the object was moving, the shutter speed will be very slow and the object appears in my picture will be ery blur.

Is there any guidance for a newbie like me? Thanks ya.

I was told the D700 price will go up soon. It will not be at RM6000 already, reason due to SB900 drop price.

D700 promotion was D700 + 50mm + SB900... so basically SB900 slashed about 200 or was it 300, therefore D700 price will go up instead. Plus stock is very limited at the moment, so if you get a good deal, grab it. Else wait for the replacement, prepare at least 8.5k for the replacement.

Well, such level of bodies don't usually come bundled with lens.
It is just a rough estimation comparing to D700's launch price. You can't expect the D800 to be priced at the current RM6000 of D700 right? 
Main reason people use DSLR is for the optical viewfinder... to be frank, I rarely use my live view. Used once or twice, that is also for framing for landscape since LV has 100% coverage. If I'm using D3s or something, I don't think I will even be touching on the LV.

Somehow I feel D7000's AF advantage over the D90 is more cross sensors, and better coverage. But the non cross sensor still perform as bad as D90's non cross sensor. The same goes to my D700's 51AF, the non cross sensors isn't good.

Well... if the D800 has better coverage of cross sensor... I'm in for upgrade xD.
