Hi guys, just got my scirocco 1.4 this afternoon. The only 'defect' that I noticed first was the bubbles at the llumar tint which I was told would disappear in 1-2 months time.

I checked back my scirocco at 5pm at home and noticed that the right headlamp got 'wap air' inside. I don't know where's the water coming from but it was raining lightly when I was driving home. Either way it shouldn't be like that right? Any of you guys experienced the same thing?

Bought it at VW Jln Ipoh. I'm heading there this Monday since tomorrow closed.

Guys, currently my mileage is close to 1000km. I understand that the 1st service will be at 15000km. However I saw some of the forumers did their service in between the suggested mileage like 7500km.

Is it advisable to do the service in between the intervals? Is there any tips or suggestions in finding the right place to do the service outside of the VW service centers?

Hi guys,

Mine is 1.4 roc and I filled my tank with ron 95 at genting sempah as there were no ron 97 available at that petronas station. After filling up I noticed that my car accelerated rather "funny" i.e. feeling jerking a bit. Is that what you call 'knocking'?

So it seems the engine doesn't like ron 95 so I assume all of you fill up with ron 97 yes?

Hi all, planning to get APR's stage 1 ECU upgrade for my 1.4 roc. Any precautions before going for the upgrade? My mileage is still less than 2k, would there be any problems? Will the SC know I did an ECU upgrade? Thanks.

bye bye to 5 yrs warranty, haha.
but that:s what im thinking right now too, 1.4 power really really no kick at all. need at least stage1, i feel u man

but im doing other stuff first, maybe after 15k or 30k only will consider stage1

Yes it is detectable.

Hmm, in that case better start with UB and RNS510 first.

By the way there's not that many roc's on the road. I always get glances from people every time I got out of my car. Can't say the same for GTI's since there's a lot of them on the road.

No offense bro but if you buy a car to get glances from people, then you are really buying a car for the wrong reasons. Because of the 2doors tax structure in Malaysia, you are paying a lot more for a Roc than what it is actually worth. Just pop over to Sg (or any other parts of the world) and you will realize that the GTI is held in higher regards to the Roc 2.0 in both performance and prestige.

Added on August 17, 2011, 11:50 pmTell people that you paid about the same money for a Roc 1.4 vs the GTI and you will probably get even more "glances".
*
Yeah I know about the 2-door tax. Just pointing out what I experienced so far driving a Scirocco. The performance of course la cannot match with GTI.

Originally wanted to go for GTI but chosed Scirocco instead because it's so damn sexy looking hehe.

I also chose a Golf over a Scirocco for the same reason.

But it's not fair to say you're buying a car for the "wrong reason" just because you want people to look at you.

Who's to say what is right or wrong? Some people want style. Some people want power. Some people want economy.

For example if you're the kind of person who only wants to get from A - B, then you can also say buying a GTI is a waste of money. Better get a TSI instead.

Plus we're not in SG, we're in Malaysia. And the reality here is, a Scirocco gets more glances and admiration from the layman than ANY kind of Golf, whether it's a TSI, a GTI or even an R.

I couldn't have said it better myself rclxms.gif

I think you are getting this all very wrong. I was reacting to the above statement made by double7 in his original post which kinda demeans the GTI and implied that style is more important than substance.

Yes, I did say to each his own but that does not mean that I can't air my opinion. Your analogy of a Nazi Is most ironic as they do not take kindly to opinions. So, who is the Nazi?

I never did say that I am smarter or more sophisticated than Roc buyers. I personally love the Roc! You are arguing out of context. I am just saying that to buy a car so that people could admire your car is not the best reason to buy a car. We should buy a car because we like the car for it's performance, styling, etc. Buying a car to get glances from strangers seems juvenile to me. You might not agree with me but that is my opinion...and everyone is free to make an opinion...unless you are a Nazi.
*
Dude give it a rest. I already said that the reason I get glances because there's not many rocs on the road and that's the truth. I never said the reason I bought it because I want to get glances.

Power wise, the 1.4 TSI engine is powerful enough for me.

Curiously enough, in terms of substance, the Scirocco handles way better than the Golf especially if you compare it stock vs stock. Mainly due to the lower center of gravity for the Roc and it's two door design so the chassis is a little stiffer which definitely shines when it comes to cornering.
*
So true! True story, played zig zag through traffic against a GTI and managed to leave the GTI in the back. The steering and handling is very responsive where I can just dash into gaps and even making 90 degree turns without the rolling feeling.

I mean that's good enough for me. How often can you speed 200kmh++ (Scirocco on stock 233kmh btw) on Malaysian roads?

Well you're not on the righteous side either by accusing me of buying the car for the above reason and labeling me juvenile at the same time.

Can I say you argued out of context as well?

Well, if you were indeed buying the car to get glances fom strangers then it is indeed quite a juvenile act but since you are not, then you are not juvenile and I apologize. However, playing zig-zag and racing on public roads suggests otherwise. Please put safety first before your ego. If you want to test your Roc against GTIs, bring it to your local racetrack.
*
Well in all honesty that was a one time thing. Was bringing my friends and they asked me to chase down that GTI lol. Sure thanks for the advice.

One more jab at ya buddy, if it wasn't for your ego we wouldn't be getting in this argument in the first place rolleyes.gif

Haha. Since we are in the topic of ego, drive safe and enjoy the loving glances from strangers that will help bolster your ego instead of indulging in dangerous street racing.

Hi...just wanna ask what is the current waiting period for Scirocco 1.4TSI ? Wanna test drive the car after this raya  smile.gif ..

Any centre/reseller to recommend?

Thanks...

Try vw jalan ipoh. They maintain a rolling stock i.e. keep replenish stock even without customer order. Other places they wait for customer order only then they bring in.

Well,it doesn't make any sense.polo gti beats golf and sirocco but price much cheaper than both of them.how is it made possible?there must be a key difference between these cars which makes the disparity in terms of prices.well, can the polo gti beats the merz c200 or audi a4?hahaha.

because it's still going to be a polo tongue.gif

Just saw a white Roc R along persiaran surian. Anybody's car here?

Was also trying to race with a Audi R8 4.2 on NKVE, couldn't overtake it obviously but it was fun though!

Does it have a Penang plate number? Saw on exotic mods facebook page a white 1.4 roc with R bodykit.

Does our VW have alarm or not? The flashing red led at the driver's door is for immobilizer or alarm indicator?
