The only part that will be rushed, is the EP application.
I've spent months on this job application prior to this phase. And I don't plan to tender until I see the In-Principle Approval Letter from MOM.

Very good decision. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

One site call for date of joining, another side ask for date of interview..

One is confirmed, the other one is just an interview (in other words, not confirmed)
Quite obvious which choice to choose right?

My company applied Work Permit for me, but i am expected to start working next week. What if I don't get my document approved by this Friday, can i enter Singapore using visitor and wait there till i get my permit and start working after that?
*
Yes and no.
You can enter as visitor.
You cannot start working until you get your IPA.
So if it takes longer, who will be paying for your expenditures in SG when you have no job yet (or worse, MOM rejects) ?

need IPA to enter SG? how about search for a room? need IPA or any others doc?
*
Renting you will need it to show you can stay long term.
Entry, no need.
For medical, you must do it in Sg (most likely not recognized if M'sia doctors laugh.gif laugh.gif )

Hi,

I'm currently holding P2 pass. My question is can I drive a Singaporean car plate with Malaysian driving license?

I came across a car sharing rental site carclub.com.sg which I'm keen on renting car for short term usage.

Thanks.

Cheers,
Amos
*
Yes you can, if you have not been in Sg for more than 1 year.

QUOTE(MPIK @ Jul 20 2011, 03:01 PM)
No, if malaysians can drive SG car using MY license, nobody will be going through all those hassle to convert their MY license to SG license.

However, if someone holding SG license, they car drive MY car but not the other way round.
*
Wrong.
You can drive if you are in Singapore for less than 1 year.
After that, you are unable to as it was more meant for tourist.

Don't understand what's so great about P1. Any tom d*ck harry start work at 23 @ $2.5k, 10% year-on-year increment, by 35 years old also will have $8k already what. Are you saying that including increments and promotions, that you can't sustain a 10% annual increase?
*
Sadly, I never managed a 10% (not including changing jobs) except for my first year due to very low pay. sad.gif sad.gif

do you even understand the process of converting My to Sg license now ? or even the contents of the JPJ letter ? if you do, you won't be asking this. and keeping 2 paid licenses when you only need 1 is smart ?
*
Well, I am not that familiar with the law but for cases like us, I think we need license for both m'sia and sg...unless we own the international license.
We need the malaysian license to drive in m'sia as we are citizens there.
I do not think the cops will accept a sg license when we get stopped in a road block back in m'sia...just like we can't show our EP/SG IC to the cops when they ask for identification.
We need the sg license to drive in sg (after a year residing in sg) as we cannot use our m'sian license anymore.

I understand that there are people who mentioned that within the JPJ letter, there is a request for LTA to cut our m'sian license into 2. sweat.gif sweat.gif
But imagine, if we are to move back to m'sia in the future, are we required to "convert" back from sg to m'sian license?

You just need to go any JPJ office to get a letter. JPJ needs to find out whether you have any outstanding summons not paid or not. If got, you need to clear the summons before they give you the letter. Like my case, i got one summon when i went to JPJ that time, i went to the counter and paid the summon (forgotten they gave me any discount or not). Then, return to their office and get the letter by showing them the receipt. If you got no summon, they will give you the letter straight away.

To cut our Malaysia license to two is bxxxsxxx lar. I still having my license and no one mention to cut my license. If you move back to Malaysia, if you have a valid malaysia driving license, the sky is clear. But i dont know if your license is expired for extended time, dont know whether there is any requirement for you to take a driving test all over again or not.  hmm.gif Anybody know???
*
I actually have the letter. laugh.gif laugh.gif
Just I have yet to scrutinize the contents fully.

For the retake part, I think I read before somewhere that if it is expired for too long, you need to retake the whole test.

Sg license is accepted in Malaysia if you are driving Malaysia registered car.
*
Erm...this may sound stupid...but what about a Sg registered car?
If we get stopped by the police, we show them Sg license with Malaysian IC (cause they would think we are foreigners)?
A bit of a weird combo laugh.gif laugh.gif cause logically, singaporeans will have to show the license with passport.

come on la Tigerr. u are just lucky that the JPJ officer din cut your license. Some officer won't cut it. but they will blacklist ur license and u can't renew it.
I went to JB JPJ and asked b4 la. if u want to keep your Malaysia license without kena blacklist, Please pay RM200 kopi money.

true story. bcoz i have no $$ that time. so i din take the letter until now.
*
Eh...letter taken = blacklist already? sweat.gif sweat.gif
Means I die die need to convert already since I took the letter. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

Well more importantly did they cut your MY driving license when u take that letter?
*
Well, they can't really do that as I took my letter from Penang.
Heck, I was even asked to take the letter after 1 day.
If they cut my license, die lo...I have to camp at JPJ already. laugh.gif laugh.gif
That is why I said someone mentioned that it is stated in the letter requesting LTA to do it...but then why should LTA listen to JPJ.
Let me go home and scrutinize my letter.

Sg side will not cut. It doesn't matter, as my reason earlier.

Any way to check if my license is blacklisted or not instead of waiting for my license renewal to be blocked (if I suffer from that case).

another thing weird from your posting. I never, ever show my IC when got block by traffic police. Only give them my license.
*
Ok noted. laugh.gif laugh.gif
Cause I was just wondering, as usually, foreigners get blocked, they should be needed to show passport to ensure they entered and stayed there legally.
By driving a Sg car and showing a Sg license, the cops may think we are foreigners and request for some identification.
Well, that is me thinking too much. laugh.gif laugh.gif

the road to financial freedom doesn't need to be totally devoid of comforts and entertainment what. $10 extra for nice comfy seats that recline flat and a blanket to keep you warm, twice a month = $20 a month, hardly the kind of expenditure that'll break your plans.
*
10 bux for recline seats and blanket?
Where? tongue.gif tongue.gif
