this USB3 thingy i read in v1 (last few pages, i think). it's interesting but haven't had the time to really understand it...

but if i'm not mistaken... a summary would be:
* get a USB3 charger... attach to the TF charging cable (when we pull out from the 3-pin socket, its actually a usb connection)

is the above understanding correct?

and to bring this further...
* the usb3 charger could be similar to the one used for charging pad2.
* the same usb3 charger can be used to charge phones like sgs2?
*
not sure about the the iPad 2, but the same USB charger can be used to charge other phones, because according to USB 3.0 standard, it is backwards compatible to previous USB versions, and iirc they can also charge at the higher voltage, so it can be faster also

V2!  rclxms.gif great work cyberkewl  thumbup.gif

ya, bbxiong, peaked through the TF last nite, nope it does not wake up....
have you enable the mobile dock batery saving mode? it disables the wake up function on dock
left it overnite with TF 100% and dock 46%, this morning it was 98% and 45%. so...i believe the dock doesnt charge if TF asleep.

btw bbxiong, i tried to peak into the screen with the dock attached already, it doesn't wake up automatically , screen stays off until i open the lid.
*

@atsu!!!
wan ask u about eepad transformer...hw is it compared to ipad 2??planning to borrow my lappy to my sis n goin to get a tablet....mainly.using for movie..reading pdf...typing emails n docs...
*
for movie, due to some codec limitation currently both also need do convert if u want best playback experience.. however the screen ratio for the TF is more suitable for movies, reading PDF also the screen ratio(longer) would also be better for reading in portrait mode.. typing emails and docs also the keyboard would be a great help if u plan to get it, other wise, u would have more space on landscape also due to the longer screen, that would help to reduce the mistakes

however u just wan facebook + light browsing + angry bird, i would suggest ipad only, for simple usage like this better stick with idiot proof products

Added on July 7, 2011, 1:50 pmbtw about the screen auto light up again after i close the lid... i tried disabling the touch pad, and it really works, it doesnt light up anymore when i close the lid now after i disable, while i try enable back, it will light up

Question! Anyone tested this? Basically doing this will be enable for 3G usage? The reason I am asking is because my gf wanna buy one but due to wifi only, she quite reluctant. Saw tweet this morning saying that 3G is out in some countries. Not sure when will hit Malaysia  rclxms.gif
*
i don have any 3G dongle, otherwise i be happy to try it out... alternatively, if u don mind me asking, what phone ur gf using? if iPhone, can just bluetooth tether, or wifi tether if the iOS is version 4.3, just bring along the cable so that she can charge her phone while she tether, that way it wont affect battery life also

Anyone face problem running 720p videos?
*
like? no audio sound? that would be because the audio format is not supported by the TF, for the problems u might wanna convert them to the suitable format

sometimes it does, upgrade new kernal/new custom rom versions, or test other roms, those are taking forever... while boot up time doesnt concern most ppl, there are ppl that hope it can be faster lar

@BBXiong may god bless you. i have been waiting for 1-1 exchange for more than a month already but they still don't have stock to change it with me.
*
well.. mine is repair, not exchange, so no need to wait stock to arrive bah... if they have technician there i think this small issue might even be able to fix in a day, hopefully

lol honestly i havent been using it since i recover it from custom rom(games all wipe out, need to root again to restore), so i think i can bear one month la...
somemore my keyboard the left side there sometimes when i press got 'tak tak' sound, dunno why... maybe try ask them along see if i can claim warranty with that also

hmm, the pyramid evernew staffs are quite helpful, they straight away call the service centre to ask about stock availability and tell me fastest by one week, instead of "dunno, cannot guarantee".. they say got spare part available for the speakers, just hope mine aint caused by motherboard issue...
and i also ask them my keyboard dock one part of the housing actually sticks out, so can claim warranty a not, they say just send along and see.. no harm there, since the KBD wont be of much use without the tablet itself too, haha

Sorry for asking noobie question. Possible for this tablet to make call through sim card like samsung galaxy tab 1?
*
so far as i know, not quite possible, the one available to us now is just the WiFi version also, technically the 3G version should be able to if google/3rd party enables the telephony function, but as of now, i don think so

Sorry for annoying, as i am a noob in it/computer stuff.

cheap android phone then tether the connection when you need 3g on your tablet.<--- This sentence is it something like i connect my phone through cable to asus tablet, then tablet will have 3G internet connection. Please correct me, if i am wrong.

Is it cable connection or something like bluetooth-ing with my phone for that 3G connection?

Cable will be troublesome.
*
for tethering, there are 3 kinds right now,
first, USB tethering, which means cable tethering, but needs driver from the connecting side to support it
second, Bluetooth tethering. It uses bluetooth to connect to ur device, and ur device will use ur phone as a bluetooth modem to connect to the internet
third, Wifi tethering. It use the built in wifi to let ur phone act as a router-alike device, allowing more then one device to connect and share ur 3G connection.

for now, TF supports 2 and 3, so there's no need of cable. However i would suggest using bluetooth tethering, cos it uses a lot less battery compared to Wifi tethering, and u don have to worry that someone might tap into ur connection. Also, Wifi tethering have 2 type as i know, Hotspot and Ad-Hoc. Hotspot will show ur Wifi as if it's from a router, like iOS 4.3 tethering, while Ad-Hoc would be like connection to another peer device. The latter is not supported in TF unless u apply some fix which require rooting.

anything that other find wrong or misleading feel free to correct me, this is based on my own understanding on tethering icon_rolleyes.gif

now that explains why i cant get adhoc wifi connection to TF with my laptop using SE phone modem  sweat.gif

can anyone guide me how to share internet connection to TF using my SE phone (or other phone that does not support BT tethering) as a modem to my laptop  icon_rolleyes.gif

if u don mind rooting i can dig up the xda forum page for u, or alternatively flash to a custom rom will do just fine... from my experience most custom rom flashing will not wipe out ur data

Hello there, anyone know any other ways to tether TF with nokia x6. I can't do it through wifi hotspot because of ad-hoc connection.

I know we can root TF and do wpa something so it can detect ad-hoc connection, but im afraid to do it tongue.gif
*
why? rooting is easy and harmless de... u don even need to scare u brick ur device, just use APX mode to reflash a proper firmware into it and we are good to go. Tegra 2 is a very good flashing chip, haha

all these display tests, etc... they are subjective. no two person's eyes and likes are the same. some will say LED TVs are nice but i've found them to be not as good as LCD. some say samsung's super amoled + produces fake colours but i kinda like it.

so, who is the right person to say if the screen is nice or not? you, of course... you as in the buyer and user and owner.

if the display pleases you... then its good enough. look at it for long time... play some movies... dun bother looking from like 45%, 80%, etc... chances are, normal viewing is not going to be like that. hold it under normal light conditions and see if the reflection bothers you, etc... that's how one should test the displays. wink.gif

i can easily ask... who likes durians? some will say its the worst fruit they have ever come across and give it -10. some would love it so much that they will give +10. even the smell... some say it smells bad. but others will say it smells heavenly. how to agree? smile.gif
*
nope, this is based on the color gamut standard and all, contrast, brightness, color saturation, all those have some static data to tell, the article is comparing against higher contrast/better color gamut/better color accuracy, this one is not really subjective, rather, they have some really professional testing method to test on those that i mentioned. You notice that on the second link he mention about color gamut(which already have a standard for accuracy), color accuracy, contrast, viewing angle.. those are all statistic based, and they do reflect on how in real life it affect us. those that are doing research can read up those before they know what they can expect.
i do agree that screen is user subjective, but most user would prefer accurate color with less reflection and higher contrast, so i definitely think the article is helpful, at least to people that understands those terms... ppl that dunno, u can start learning those terms, as u will see them much more when u are researching for LCD/plasma/LED TV
