Next-Gen ASUS Eee Pad Tranformer to Be First Kal-El Device?
http://phandroid.com/2011/08/17/next-gen-a...-kal-el-device/

ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih promised the next iteration fo the Eee Pad Transformer would be impressive, and according to new reports his words could be an understatement. Multiple sources are claiming the next Transformer, scheduled for a launch sometime in the fall, will be the first device to feature NVIDIA’s quad-core Kal-El SoC. The timing is slightly off from the original timeline set forth by NVIDIA. August was initially pegged as the month for Kal-El’s debut, but it would now seem that things have shifted back slightly. Either way, we eagerly await the potential of four cores pumping out Android goodness.

i have not had the time to do a proper test yet (wife and son hogging the tablet and dun have enough of tablet free time) but yes... from the general observation on my own TF... i have to say:
* the dock itself discharges battery quite fast (even when tablet is not docked)
* discharging is also fast when tablet is docked -- even if its on standby

observations made based on:
* charging both together and then undocking and leaving dock alone
* docked the tablet later on and using the dual battery widget to show the battery level

for the discharging when docked... could be apps i installed... but again, no time to do proper and more scientific testing.

i remember a few nights ago, my tablet went to 0% from about 60% battery in 24hrs even though it was supposedly on standby. i suspect its one of the apps... though not sure which.
*
This is when docked right? When undocked, how is the battery consumption on the tablet alone?

yup, when docked, discharging is quite fast.

but for this, it was not docked.

not very scientific or proper measurement... but from what i can roughly tell, when undocked, it seems ok except for that incident quoted above. in standby and some use every day, can last me about 3 days.

detaching it is easy, just push the latch to the left then pull out the tablet from the keyboard. putting it back in place can be a bit trickier if you're doing it for the first time. you need a bit of force, just push it down till the latch slides to the right side. make sure you align it properly first before you do this.

most autofocus camera's makes a small tick noise.

on some devices, its louder than others.

depends on the camera module being used.

trust me, on some other phones its much louder than the Asus TF.

BEWARE OF :

- Sand, sandy particles, rocks and other silica based objects (gorilla glass and other types of glasses are made from this stuff as well), make sure there are no sand particles on the screen or cloth when you wipe your screen.

- Diamonds and gems (duh...)

- Hardened metals (hardened steel screwdrivers, knives that are guaranteed to remain sharp for a long time, sharp drill bits)

- Cigarette lighters (steel roller of the lighter is made of hardened steel to cause to flint to spark) - my friend's Nokia N8 (gorilla glass) got scratched from it.

- Keys (even though most youtube demos of Gorilla Glass shows people trying to scratch it with keys, brass and copper keys might be soft but not all keys are made from those materials)

WARNING : There could be other stuff that could scratch the Gorilla Glass that i am not aware of so always exercise caution, plain old common sense plays a big role here.

if you feel the charger cable is too short...

http://www.lelong.com.my/1-5m-usb-3-0-type...1-08-Sale-P.htm

i am not the seller, but if its a real usb 3.0 cable it should be able to extend the charger's range.

i'm planning to get one, soon.
