Recently found some ThinkPad X301 without any RAM and HDD. I ordered the required parts and restored both to working order. Not bad for a 1-inch thick laptop with a DVD drive. Added a Dual-SD adapter to take in micro SD cards.

Performance-wise, still alright for basic tasks and watching FHD movies. The battery is kinda hard to find but not impossible.

Soon after I found the X220T with i7 for cheaps. Again, no RAM, HDD, and battery. Ordered all the required parts and it is not serving as my secondary laptop after the L440. I already have the X220 but will use it for something else later.

As for X200, it will be the print server after retiring the old ThinkCentre. If can find the X201 later, I might use it too.

While in the subject of old ThinkPads, the X61 was dismantled into pieces and I resprayed the top cover with a matte rubber coating. Currently still testing it before reassembling back and using it as a daily driver. Still good for 4:3 movies in SD or HD only.

is it possible to ask for a complete replacement of lenovo laptop?

i currently have 1 X13 laptop, 6 months old, bought online from lenovo website.

it has 3 major issues now:

1) restart even though selected shut down.
2) randomly tells me "bluetooth not available in this device", ask me insert bluetooth adapter.
3) randomly tells me internet not available, ask me to use wifi adapter.

they previously changed motherboard already but still same thing. guess i got a lemon. any advice?

1) possibly software issue...

2 & 3.... if your BT&wifi card is not soldered on.... try switch the card... it could be related to usb ports drawing too much power (from the BT/Wifi adapter... associated power line)....

Bought a Thinkpad E15 Gen 3 with AMD 5500U recently.
Spec stated IPS display with 300 nits brightness however device manager shown monitor hardware id as LEN40BA. Googled this panel found that the brightness of this panel should be 250 nits only, however Lenovo insists that this is 300 nits panel.
Can anyone confirm on this?

Finally restored the X301 bought from a forumer here. Ran well and perfect.

Please help a fellow potential ThinkPad owner

- The fingerprint scanner, can it be used to boot up the laptop?

- For those with Ryzen 5, 8GB RAM and integrated graphics, is this sufficient for Microsoft office work, watching video / youtube and multiple chrome windows tab (say 20)?

- Would you recommend to extend the base warranty to 2 years?

Not using ThinkPad but can share some of the things that I know of.
I'm on Ryzen 7, 16GB RAM and iGPU. Open 20 tabs and 3 Excel file. Youtube haven't load any video


If only 8GB sure will use a lot more pagefile.
Ryzen 5 5000 gen should be quick enough for office tasks, browse web and youtube video.
