hi,
i just bought the galaxy tab and i saw something about custom rom. I want to use dip7 rom with overcome kernel. Is that possible?
*
You can give it a try though I don't think the Overcome team officially supports using their kernel with any rom other than Overcome rom.

Ok noted thanks. Btw a lot of revies online gave negative feedback on the standard web browser. Issit that fc*ked up? Might cancel my plan if it is so. Whats the purpose of having such a huge screen if you can't even browse properly.
*
Not a big issue, this one. I am using Opera Mobile 11 on my Tab, so far everything is good. This is the beauty of Android, you don't like the app (even a factory-installed app), you just choose another one instead.

BTW, I don't really find any issue with the stock web browser actually. I just prefer Opera Mobile to it.

Looks like new DXJPI firmware with DXJPE modem. Not even listed on samfirmware site yet. Probably 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 but I do hope for 2.3.5 smile.gif

And here I was thinking that Jupiter was da' bomb, no major issues to report from my end. Anyway, I will install Kratos and then feedback via the polls, bro. Thanks for the PM, btw.

Hi bro, what is DXJPI you mean then modem only or rom is it better than Kartos.

You going to flash to DXJPI rom? Where is the download site?
*
No, bro. I am a very big Overcome rom fan. I just downloaded the stock DXJPI rom to see if it had a newer modem file than what I am using now (from stock DXJPE rom). Looks like both releases of stock ROM have the same modem version, so I have nothing to upgrade/change. biggrin.gif

BTW, I am pretty sure Overcome rom is way better than any stock rom.

Found DXJPI here:

not sure about ADW but in ADW Ex (paid app), disabling scrolling cache makes everything smooth for me on my Tab.

You can connect it to USB thumb drives, USB harddisk, all types of SD cards - mini, micro, full size : To transfer , copy paste files to the Tab.
It is a great tool
*
Bro, could it be that it doesn't work on the 7" because the 7" doesn't have USB HOST feature? Not 100% sure about this, though.

Uncle,i try the free ADW launcher and it not smooth like my current Pro Launcher..hmm..seems u said like that d,means ADW and ADW EX are same just more features then i better stick to my current Pro launcher...duno issit am still using my stock 2.3.3 gingerbread rom?
*
On my phone running CM7, I did notice that the bundled ADW Free was jerkier than the ADW Ex that I paid for, especially when scrolling between homescreens and within the app drawer. Did you disable scrolling cache in ADW Free on your Tab?

I believe the Market has a 15 minute app purchase refund policy, ADW Ex is only about RM10, you may want to buy then try and then claim a refund if it doesn't satisfy you.

BTW, found this listed in the Android Market for the EX:

https://market.android.com/details?id=org.adw.launcher&hl=en
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.a....launcher&hl=en

Differences between ADW.Launcher and ADWLauncher EX

ADWLauncher EX is based on the ADW.Launcher opensource core with a lot of new additions and improvements, like for example:
-5 different app drawer styles/behaviors
-3D Nexus One like application drawer
-2 different plain vertical drawer styles, the "old one" and a new fast and smooth one
-2 different Iphone-like horizontal application drawers, a traditional paginated one and a new one with continuous fling
-Different desktop transitions: new animations while navigating through your desktop screens. Try them all, they're crazy!!!
-New Icons configurations/look and feel: Tweak your desktop icons, change its sizes, add coloured backgrounds, change font size, color, etc!
-New fast presets mode: Quickly change the whole desktop configuration by 1 click!
-Editable desktop icons for applications, shortcuts and folders!
-Lots of code improvements
-More, more more to come!!

adw ex is smoother in scrolling than adw free on my tab..dunno why but mine have to enable scrolling cache to smooth out the scrolling..

of coz adw ex more features than adw..you just have explore the setting..

cheers
*
Buddy,

Home screen sideways swiping is smooth for you with scrolling cache enabled?

In ADW Ex, under ADWSettings / General Behaviour / System Preferences / Scrolling Cache, the swiping transition/animation is smooth only if I choose 'low quality' or 'disabled'. 'auto' will make the motion jerky on my Tab. BTW, my ADW Ex is the latest version (updated this morning) 1.3.3.1.

hello big brothers.. i am on a Galaxy S.. wondering how is the battery life of the SGT on 3G standby, can it last 2 days on standby only? no background sync..

my SGS can't.. lol..so i wanna upgrade.
*
My SGS lasts 1 day plus (22-28 hours) with 3G enabled, background and autosync enabled. My Galaxy Tab lasts a bit more than 2 days with the same settings, same usage.

Can the tab play all the hd games?

Not sure if the Tab can play all games with 'HD' in their titles, but I do have a few that play fine, e.g. Spiderman HD & Shadow Guardian.

These last few days I've been thinking of a new feature that I feel is a must have for tablets - multi user support.

My 3 year old son has recently discovered how to exit the video player (he used to only watch Top Gear on my Tab) then launch and play games (Diversion, Plants vs Zombies, Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope, Lane Splitter are among his favourite games, just like his daddy). And guess what, he is overwriting my save games and progress (sigh).

I do have Smart App Protector running, a paid app to lock down selected apps (e.g. facebook, twitter, browser etc) on my Tab but I now think that having multi-user profile support would be a killer feature for Android's tablet OS.

Anyone else thinks or feels the same, like myself and so many others at http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=15030?
