currently using standard mobile package which can send/receive SMS and make calls
i 'd like to get an android phone (1st timer) and do not wish to go on data plan....and use existing plan
however, some one told me that i need to go on a data plan to send/receive SMS - so a bit puzzle.
but i believe and after reading this forum....i can just place my current sim and current package into new android phone and i can can send/receive SMS and make calls WITHOUT a data plan
i think this has been mentioned... if you put in your card and surf (if you have the gateway, etc setup), you will still be surfing the net. only thing is... without data package, your will be charged as per usage. could be 10sen/ kb or something.
not sure if its possible to ask telco to disable all data and only allow sms/ voice calls.
even some dumbphones can access and download data -- dumbphones like SE k618i. as long as got browser and you can use it (settings, etc are correct), you get charged.

I'm tickled pink at those who are thinking of paying extra for another 4 years warranty after the first year. With technology moving so fast are you sure you'll be keeping your phone for 5 years? This is an eternity for smartphones. Don't waste your money buying extra warranty. If anything happens to your phone in the 2nd year, you can still pay Samsung to repair and it may never happen. Frankly you should be very leery of 3rd party repairers.
again, i like to say diff people have diff use for the phone. i'd like to think my smartphone can last me at least 5yrs. i dun think i need the latest and the fastest. and it is still phone first... pda second. gaming third. in such case for me, i would surely want it to last as long as possible.
