QUOTE(manx @ Jul 2 2011, 11:00 PM)
Guys, i have been reading and watching all the tutorials available on youtube about flashing to litening rom. but i have a few questions.
1. Before flashing the rom, i need to update to chainfire  KF1 kernel first by going into the download mode from the phone
2. To flash with litening rom, u need enter the debug mode by pressing volume up + home + power button. Then using Odin start the flashing using the 2++MB litening tar file. is rhis correct?
3. Can i directly start with item #2 because i already rotot my kernel uaing supercurio?

Hope to get some advice from sifus... really interested in doing funny stuff to this phone smile.gif
*
When you flash Litening - you get root same time, and CWM based on CF4 installed. Your Supercurio kernel will be overwritten by Chainfire CF4
Flashing Supercurio is only for those who just want root and do not wish to flash rom

Features : Changelog ( cut n paste from XDA thread )
21/06/2011
Now with official XXKF2 Firmware
Modem XXKF2
Added CF-Root 4.0 kernel for XXKF2

I have say before, please study the features of the rom and not guess what should be done. The fact you ask these question shows you did not study the features of the rom - Q1 and Q3 is a good example of it

My phone power seems like a bit too sensitive at times, sometimes a single press can cause it to auto restart multiple times continiously, i feel the power button will "stuck" there for some occasions... is my power button faulty or this is normal?
*
definately not normal. backup and do a factory reset and monitor. if still happen probably hardware issue

Pros and cons.

I'd think you can get more feedback/answers at XDA thread. Msian users are no different from any of the world XDA users. You have more feedback at the XDA thread
What I can say, this is one of my top 2 favorite rom besides TK 0.37

TK 0.37. Another very good rom is AngeloM but I just hate his themes - too colorful and flashy

Hi benny, I just need to confirm something.

After doing a hard reset on my VillainROM, do I need to flash a stock kernel or I can immediately flash Litening?

Thanks notworthy.gif icon_rolleyes.gif
*
NO NEED - you only need to do such for Motorola phones or Dell phones. Just flash the new rom after you have clear Cache partition, at Advanved - clear Dalvik cache and clear data/factory reset

hi benny, i remember back in V5 or V6 thread you provided a list of apps that can be freezed using titanium backup. But I tried to search but to no avail. Would you be able to recall? I want to use it as a reference cos i want to freeze some stock apps too.

Btw, how to get that battery screen showing the top apps that uses the most battery life?

you can flash any rom from any country
if you are new to flashing avoid samfirmware which I have repeatedly discourage new users to try
just download those from xda refer page

anybody using Dolphin browser HD experiencing battery drain from it? about 1% every minute. After checking with CpuSpy, turns out its running on 1200Mhz all the time.
*
I use mainly Dolphin ; if on WiFi continously the battery usage is about 8-10 % every hour ; on 3G ( depends on signal strength ) is slightly higher

Any help possible?
*
You need to flash back a stock kernel similar to the TK kernel to get rid of the yellow triangle. Or if you have the JIG - switch off phone - plug in jig - triangle gone
Flash the rom and see for yourself whether the pinkish tint is fixed ? If not, try the solution I have posted in page 1
I never have pinkish tint, so no idea whether this rom improves it ?

Not necessary true; a lot of Korea phones uses CDMA ( no need simcard ) which is not available and cannot be use in Msia. If it is GSM phone ( using simcard) , ask him to check the specs of the GSM and see whether it matches this. Not too sure whether Korea sets are CDMA or GSM
Quad band GSM 850/900/1800/1900
Quad band UMTS 850/900/1900/2100

rooting need to flash special kernel first right? or which way you use for root? even u flash only kernel it will consider the rom site modified.
*
All rooting involves install an insecure kernel/modifying the kernel so that the system files can be accessed
the " Kernel version" ( at Settings/About Phone) details will be changed after root

I remember when i dial the code when the firstday i bought it but there was no BUILD info, after i flashed with other rom then its there..even i flashed back to the ori stock one (DXKF1), the build info still there..

oklah maybe this is not a big deal but i'm just not satisfied..maybe will ask other member that never do flash or rooting.. wink.gif

This is mine out of the box before rooting and flashing: ( UK set )

pda i9100xwkdd
phone i9100xxkdh
csc i9100xeukd1
build tue apr26 kst 2011

If you ask me, it is indeed strange that you did not see any build - it is a important piece of info showing when was the rom develop

anyone tried this SkyRom? seems interesting.... btw can anyone tell me wat's the meaning of 200dpi density?  blink.gif
*
The default icon density is 240dpi - a 200dpi ) dot per inch ) will make your icons smallers ; all font sizes will be smaller - overall you get to see more space. So at a lower dpi - you can fit in more stuffs. However these might affects certain apps/widgets appearance. Most widgets will look awfully out of place
You can manually change the dpi using, say root explorer
Just go to system/build.prop - locate the value "ro.sf.lcd_density=" change it to 200 or any figure from 160 to 240 ( in 10's )

Hey guys, Got a simple question to ask:

1. What's the latest firmware for the SGS2?

2. What's the most stable firmware for SGS2 that preserves battery life?
*
1. Refer page 1 on roms - check out the links or look itup at samfirmware.com where the rom builds are listed by country/region and by dates released
2. NONE - is up to individual user - test yourself as different roms has different specialities. Battery life - you need to have other efforts cannot rely on firmware alone - read page 1 FAQ on this subject

Hi guys.. My phone keeps beeping when i charged it using the 3 pin plug ..  when it reaches 80% of the battery it will start beeping .. i have to remove the cable in order to stop the annoying sound .. how can i disable it? .. thanks ..
*
It only beeps when battery is fully charge at 100 % ; looks like you have a defective battery
You cannot remove this sound by default - some cook roms has disable this feature
