QUOTE(yewkhuay @ Aug 19 2007, 06:30 PM) then i shall upgrade....bro, can guide me how to access to the 2nd ram piece under the keyboard? ok ... no prob ... first u need a screw driver ... to open small screws ... philip head type ... then push ur laptop lcd screen until its flat at 180 degrees angle ... then u see the piece thats covering ur speakers and button ... u have to remove that ... open from the side ... once u take off the top piece, there should be 2 or 3 screws u need to open for u to take out the keyboard ... once u have taken out the keyboard ... there is this chrome plate with 2 screws ... open it and then ... jeng jeng jeng ... there is ur ram ...

sorry guys ... was kind of busy yesterday ... anyway ... danixal ...welcome to the toshiba lappy club ... one day we got to have a TT gathering or something ... hahaha ... i can give free diagnose or something ... hehehe ... anyway ... for the ram issue ... there is no unauthorized ram ... there is only not compatible ram ... but if the ram is the fault of ur notebooks problem ... the toshiba service centre will ask u to change ur ram ... bro yewkhuay ... like i said ... dont worry bout ur second year warranty if ur not going overseas ... the warranty is valid as long as its stated on ur invoice ... we had this kind of issues b4 ... but in the end tele-dynamics or the sole distributor and service center for toshiba said that all u need is a proof of purchase or the invoice to claim ur warranty locally ... so when u send it in for repairs ... just bring ur invoice ... anyway ... how did ur ram swapping operation went ???

QUOTE(dinmalek @ Aug 22 2007, 01:59 PM) Bro eddy, Toshiba Satellite M45-S2692 - Pentium M 740 1.73 GHz - 15.4" TFT Manufacturer: Toshiba Part number: PSM42U-019006 Product Short Spec: Processor: Intel Pentium M (1.73 GHz) RAM installed: 512 MB DDR II SDRAM (total 1gb now) Weight: 6.2 lbs Display: 15.4 in TFT active matrix OS provided: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Chipset type: Mobile Intel 915GM Express wanna ask u,wat more can i upgrade to make it in best performance?can the cpu also be upgrade? thnx dude... ur model is actually not a local model ... all toshiba models that ends with a 5 at the back is not local ... sure overseas model ... maybe u can add more ram until 2gb and the processor if i m not mistaken can be changed to 2.0GHz ... but u need a new bios version for that ... but i suggest a ram upgrade is good enuf ... plus ... take care of ur windows and programs ...

QUOTE(dinmalek @ Aug 22 2007, 02:24 PM) Ya it's US..bought sometime ago...how much differ in performance if upgrade to 2.0 ghz? i think more ram only if u r working with a very large files and a 3d rite.under normal working condition and internet browsing would that 1 gig be enuf to keep those memory while windows operating...and other thing is this model vista capable?thnx well .. for normal usage like internet and word processing ... 1GB is quite good ... but for multi tasking and editing like photoshop ... i would recommend at least 1.5GB ... as for vista ... no hesitation ... 2GB is the way at least ... u can use vista ... but make sure the drivers r correct ...
