Alamak!
i should hv ask from ur opinion b4 buying my 2GB ram!
been using both of it for more than a mth liao!
but another thing i noticed my lappy is actually 533FSB rite? but when i changed the ram to 667Mhz then from the NHC program it shows my FSB is 666Mhz???
why is it so?
is it FSB is dependant of RAM?
*
cougar ... what model r u using ??? or whats ur processor's code ??? T????

if ur processor has a 667mhz FSB ... then u should get a 667mhz ram to go with it right ??? no point going for something backdated ...
anyway ... always get it in a pair to fully utilise dual channel ...

Toshiba also choosy when it comes to RAM? Like Apple?
Anyway I still havent make up my mind whether to buy M200 A411 , considering that cannot install XP..
*
can install xp but the drivers r a bit hard to find ... did for curtomers b4 and the only driver that couldnt install was the function button keys ...
dont go for the M200-A411 first ... new model coming out today ... same specs but with 120GB hard disk ...

using A100-2212, processor is T5200.
but i saw some forumer said tat the mobo is actually support up to 667Mhz ram so i juz go for it.
not sure whether is it affect the FSB as well.
using 2x1GB kingston 667Mhz ram, think should b running in dual channel mode biggrin.gif
*
ur processor is using 533MHz FSB ... but ur mobo can support until 667MHz RAM ... so no worries ... dual channel it is ...

huh? how to do tht? a bit noob ler..

and is it possible for me to remove both RAM (256mbx2) and replace with 512mbx2 or just one 1gb (same performance ? )

btw, how do i know whther my ram stick is 533 or 667 ? if mix , is it ok? rclxub.gif
*
ur lappy is using 533MHz RAM ... dont worry ... the other RAM slot in located underneath ur keyboard ...
its better for u to use both 667MHz ... since ur going to buy 2 new 512MB RAM right ???
by the way ... sorry for the late reply ... was cleaning my house yesterday ... got no time to online ...
if u dont know how to fix ur RAM u can bring it over to my shop and i can do it for u ... u can learn at the same time too ...

thumbup.gif

by the way ... they postponed the new m200 ... they want to sell out the m200 - a411 first ...

icon_rolleyes.gif

and vista currently have a lot of updates ... so u guys that r using vista ... remember to activate ur auto update ok ???
stability wise ... got mix reactions ... but i m still using xp ... my friends lappy using vista with frequent updates got no problems ...
its just that vista needs a lot of memory and processing speed so that its slow if compared to xp ...

I'd like to comment on the Portege R200 laptop.
I think its a damn good laptop especially the keypads.
It beats even the IBM x60 which my brother is using.
Each time I use his IBM lappie I will think how come IBM (now Lenovo) boasts on its keypads when the Tosh's Portege are even better.
*
the portege and the tecra series has one of the best quality in materials used in laptops ...
might even surpass the ibm thinkpad

hmmm..... never try that before......btw toshiba if use long also will heat up ma.....i found out the dell 1 different wont heat up except the side which the hot air comes out only......btw eddy do you know how to use wireless to share connection with my other laptops?
*
heat up depends on models ... since the m100 and a100 and above series very less heat liao ... cos all come out from the ventilation from the side ... and the toshiba lappies r made thicker for that reason too ...i tried the new xps and the inspirons ... and they all heat up as well ... especially at the arm rest ...
anyway ... for sharing wireless i would recommend a wireless router ... if u share among ur lappies from 1 computer sure very slow ... anyway ... there is an option in ur wireless network setting that allows other pc to share ur wireless connection ...

u want to network a few lappies together or u want to share the internet connection ??? if u want to share to share the internet connection, there is this option where in ur wireless network properties u can tick the option to let people connect to ur lappy and share ur internet connection ...
