Cayin C6 is a portable DAC cum amp. Usually the DAC part is stronger for portable DAC cum amp and DAP.
Cayin C5 is definitely much stronger at the amp part as compare to C6.

As a portable unit, C5 does a good job in driving big cans at this price range. The sound is quite healthy and enjoyable.
The performance could be better if using desktop amp.
I suggest you to keep your Cayin C5 and pair it with a DAC. Any other amps that with lower performance may not give you the pleasant sound as DT880 is really not easy to drive well.

I have pre-ordered my K702 65th Anniversary , I have heard this headphone NEEDS an amp. So I'm looking for any budget (RM300 or less , I hope) DAC/Amps to pair with it. I mostly will be using my headphones on my desktop only. Thanks ! biggrin.gif

This headphone is really not easy to handle and drive well. I do suggest you to up budget a little bit and get Aune T1 MK2 tube DAC cum amp. It's more to DAC, the build in amp is also not bad pairing with big cans.
To release the potential of your headphone, you can consider keeping the Aune T1 and upgrade to RM1K+ desktop amp in the future such as Matrix M stage, Laigaro 332S, Aune S2, Musical Pradise MP301 MK3 and so on. You won't find it (T1) bottleneck even pairing with RM2K+ amp.

Any recommendation for dac/amp for ath m50x? My laptop dac sucks~

There are lots of options depending on your budget. Just grab at least an audio level DAC or dap. Entry level gadget such as Fiio X1, E07K, E18, Audio quest dragonfly, Aune T1 mk2 and so on.

Hey guys, can recommend me a decent portable DAC for headphones and
2.1 speakers system? My budget is below $200.

Thanks.

Greeting to all LYN audiophile member notworthy.gif

I'd just bought a Shure srh144, noticed lacks of mid & low freq details.
I'm thinking wanna add in head amp to drive this headphone for better sound.

Is it possible to get a decent headamp around RM200? biggrin.gif

Example something like these? > http://www.mudah.my/Topping+TP21+2X25w+Cla...er-31673353.htm

Following SRH144 spec below :

Sensitivity : 96 dB SPL/mW
lmpedance : 34 Ohms
Frequency Range : 30 Hz–20 kHz

My source mainly smartphones & pc desktop.

Thanks! thumbup.gif

I tried the topping myself, it has audible distortion that i don't like at all. Nothing can change your sound signature in a large scale unless you change the entire headphone. Never expect large improvement over DAC/AMP, cables, plugs.
Do you have a DAC beforehand you getting yourself an AMP? smile.gif

Hi guys

I'm currently using AKG K550 headphones. Love the clarity but the bass is underwhelming. Currently I hope you guys could recommend me any entry level usb DAC that would improve my Tohshiba laptop's rubbish(extremely airy) audio output. Even my phones output sound much better.

Looking for something that would improve the bass and of course overall audio quality if possible.

Should I go for Fiio e11k/audioquest dragonfly/schiit modi? or other brands?

Thanks in advance!

You are getting confused rclxub.gif

FiiO E11K is a portable amp (without DAC) while Schiit Modi is a desktop DAC (without amp).

If you are pairing with laptop and need bass boost for your otherwise easy to drive AKG K550, go with the FiiO E10K instead nod.gif
