While I like the clarity of my new toy ES7, I notice at times that some of the songs were too sharp. So I guess I need more bass and warmer sound. Please do correct me.
This will be my first DAC/Amp. The only DAC/Amp that I have tried during my purchase of ES7 was the Hippo Box+ and the Fiio E7.

I like the Hippo Box+ more than the Fiio E7.

So how is the Ibasso D2 Boa and the Ordnance .25 compared to the Hippo Box+?

Any other worthy brands/models within the budget range? I dont adding up 50-100 more though.

I think the first post can be changed so it has a number of spoilers , each with a write up on a series of amps and what they add to the cans in terms of sound. Would help be a knowledgable article , people can read OP to determine what they need instead of posting and waiting for response.

That thing is spectacular. I can't believe I only paid RM220 for it.
Tried it with my Grado SR60i. With bass boost on it's even better.

Ran out the stock battery, it went up to 25 hours. I can extend the battery life of my Teclast T51 by 4 hours too (by turning the amp on the player all the way down and use the LO port for the cMoy).

Try get energizer max battery or better get energizer lithium. Or if u use for desktop, can get universal power adapter , the spec as stated on the pdf instruction doc.

John saber from jds said he will release a high end bb cmoy with internal battery in 2 months time, but the price will be 3x from current cmoy, code name c421.

JDS labs definitely worth it. can boost bass to not so bassy phone even without bass boost on. And you can increase the power by using external power supply. If assuming that the hippo box shares common sound signature and power of hippo amp then the JDS labs cmoy definitely beats it. It's a clear winner here.

hi calmshot any info yet on the c421 such as casing and final price? When is the earliest we can see the info. I've been like waiting forever just to see their casing and price. Don't know which to get yet.

Then can you update me before you do the bulk? I still haven't make a choice yet. It's either cmoy or c421.

I've been following the C421. I like the internal shot of the amp. Looks good. Probably not as DIY looking as the cMoyBB.

My concern is...........that it looks like a home-made explosive rig. What with all that steel candy casing and exposed cable of the interconnect.

I get looks from security guards at the bank.
I'm leaving for Kuching on Wednesday, and I'm wondering whether I will be stuck at the scanner for a long time trying to explain myself to the airport security. Has anyone ever brought rigs like that to the airport?

Bro, check out the vid that I post before urs. Jude's (of HeadFi) rig is bulkier than urs. LOL.
The JDS Labs cMoyBB Altoids mint case is really deceiving lah.

Don't worry, just put it in ur bags to pass through the scanner. They don't care much in the bags one. Just don't carry them cause they are metal sure to get caught. Just to be safe bring the receipt to id the products, and that's it. I really wanted to see the face of the security guards. Even if i'm them i also would thought that it is a bomb.

It's not the bulk, it's the way the rig looks that can cause misunderstandings.

Kinda worrying but funny at the same time. I was expecting one of them to go up to me and asking some questions. I guess with my IEM hooked up to it they kinda let me pass. But the similarity to an explosive and a detonator device is quite scary. I think any good security officer would ask me about it, rather surprised that they didn't.

Oh well, if the rig passes through without any suspicion, I would be glad. Else, it would be quite a funny experience.

Anyways, back into topic. I think that this amp has somewhat cure my desire for a Future Sonics Atrio. It can make the Brainwavz M1 quite the air pumper. In fact, I'm more inclined into getting an IEM like the Hifiman RE0 than the Atrio.....for now at least. The bass of the Atrio would be nice, but since giving my Grado to my dad I would have nothing to rest my ears from bass if I got the Atrio and sell the M1.

The Atrio would be great for a bass fix without an amp though, so it is still in my priorities list for IEM, but I think it just went 2nd place after the RE0 (or similar IEM). Thanks to the JDS Labs cMoyBB v2.03.

That's an interconnect, and if you're going to buy the JDS Labs cMoy, you're gonna have to buy one because they're not included. I bought mine from wotiyo (a forumer), he made them. Some people even buy new ones to replace the stock ones that may come with their amp. Supposedly they give better sound quality. Never tried though. never really believe in these 'cable thingies'. I believe that as long as it connects properly and no clicks, crackles and pops can be heard, it's good.

Save up for the new one la, hehe. I bet it's going to cost twice as the v2.03.

Ahh the JDS Labs cMoyBB v2.03. Hafto tahan until the next restock and hopefully the new model come out on the same time aswell.

Hafto audition first then you will know if you really need an amp. I'm still looking for my first amp. Choose carefully.

At least for my case, I'm looking for warmer and more bass due to the sharpness/lower bass on my ES7.

Need to do more and more audition.

You may also want to look at the new Fiio E11. Cheap, compact and practical with the famous bass boost feature. which adds bass and warmth. Also the one I have, the JDS Labs cMoyBB. After a while it does warm up and able to tame the highs of my dad's Grado SR-60i, especially with the bass boost. Not very good looking though (depending of your definition of style, and your rig). If you can find Meier Audio Corda XXS second hand at a cheap price, it will also be good. Was gonna buy it once, but never did. A Jaben staff gave me opinions on it, and it seems to tone down the treble area quite noticeably he says.

It's not a question of whether you can, it's whether you want to or need to.
