QUOTE(1dollar @ May 14 2012, 06:34 PM) MMM Stradic CI4.... I also wanna know how much. Also Pflueger Patriarch/Supreme XT 25 & 30... UL yo!!! get the stradic ci4 ; dont forget to ask the retailer for best price; should be around 780 ringgit. the Patriarch; while an awesome looking reel with fierce name, it's made of magnesium and therefore can only be used in freshwater meanwhile the stradic is 'all-terrain vehicle' as it is made of carbon fiber material so it's in the name," CI4 ", which makes it invincible to rust. |

QUOTE(1dollar @ Jun 7 2012, 07:24 PM) Ouch, not sure if some of the tackle shops does shipping or not. Have you tried Mudah.com ? Some prices are quite reasonable if you have a specific colour or model in mind. Else do try local online fishing tackle store like knkfishing or minstortackle its been too difficult looking for Yamaria lures in KK, and the tackle shops here dont seem interested to bring them in. well thanks for the heads up ! really appreciate it, but if you guys have anymore suggestions, please share with me. |

heya guys need some help here
can anyone recommend a good leader brand that is available in malaysia ? A soft but durable fluorcarbon leader the 10lb, 8lb or 6lb class, coz i need it for luring. Anyways, have you guys seen any tackle shops in KL stocking any of this? ![]() I have the vanish fluorocarbon line in the 6lb class though, any of you guys used the vanish before ? Are they recommended ? or is there something much better? thanks This post has been edited by Einjahr: Jun 20 2012, 10:01 PM |

QUOTE(rorytate @ Jun 21 2012, 12:00 AM) Dunno what's coming. I just finger cross for early Xmas gift. LOL hmm correction there, the new range are mostly the new CI4+ and super MG ( magnesium), CI4+ is lighter than CI4Was hoping for some new toys, eg: vanquish, aldebaran Seen the latesT Shimano catalogue? The magnesium is lighter than ci4 it seems |

QUOTE(rorytate @ Jun 21 2012, 09:34 AM) Bro Ein, ah yeah that pic illustrate this point really well about the difference in Ci4 and CI4 plus (+) I didnt see any new CI4 in the catalogue. The plus version is definitely lighter than the non plus version in CI4. As i'm referring to the material used here, perhaps do enlighten us what is the correction factor? Am worried that i gave wrong infos.. Attached is the catalogue info i saw. [attachmentid=2905258] previous rareniums, and the black-red stradics are all constructed with CI4 material ( previous stuff) meanwhile CI4 ( plus) is a new material formula, all the new reels this year have CI4 +, which is precisely lighter than the previous stuff. Compare the 200 gram stradic CI4 2500 and the all new 2012 rarenium 2500 at 190grams. CI4 material is impervious to rust, which means it cannot corrode. The magnesium you mentioned is a kind of super magnesium alloy ( super MG), which is used on the recent vanquish peppered with CI4 plus. I think the CI4+ material is prolly lighter than the super MG. Oh! I hope you get your xmas gift, but it better be a vanquish or the new solid rarenium 2012 ( good all round bash reel ) . |

QUOTE(rorytate @ Jun 21 2012, 04:58 PM) Bro Ein, good news for you, i believe some shops are already stocking the vanquish in malaysia but.. but.. im waiting nervously for the rarenium, as some tackle shops in Singapore already got theirs; rarenium have landed in Singapore... cant be too long now. lolIncorrect ler. The pic illustrates the magnesium and the Ci4 only. It does not mentioned any part of Ci4+ as per say. Enlarge the picture and you will get to notice that it actually compares the magnumlite vs Ci4. As for the Ci4+, it is only available in Rarenium series, no other series have Ci4+. Yes there are new items this year but none having Ci4+ besides Rarenium For vanquish, it did not state any of the Ci4 material . Super looking forward for the new toys! (if it came early).... LOL http://fishing.shimano.co.jp/product/reel/2815 check out the specs... Xship, magnumlite rotor, ci4+, etc. Added on June 21, 2012, 7:28 pm QUOTE(chun @ Jun 21 2012, 06:00 PM) i've been using Berkley Vanish and has been serving me well, very seldom change as I tied FG knot to mainline which have not failed on me before Thank you, very helpful response and helped cleared up things alot. But u need to know there's 2 types. 1. Leader Material - Much More expensive, slightly harder and more abrasion resistant. can't seem to find any tackle shop around KL selling per meter, only got per box of about 10 or 20 yards costs about RM20-30+ 2. Main Line (dunno use what name la) - used as mainline, much cheaper (about the price of braided lines) can be found quite easily in tackle shops. Softer and less abrasion resistant. The picture u shown I've not seen it personally. Just the Transition one I've seen. If u want can contact Pure fishing Malaysia and they can tell u if they got bring it in or not. Hope this helps. Well the vanish should be better than the 10lb mono im using I hope; I've just attached the 6lb vanish leader to a 4lb braid i'm using on my stradic, and i hope it wont cause me to lose my yamashita jigs coz they ain't cheap... I'd be crying buckets if the leader fails on me. This post has been edited by Einjahr: Jun 21 2012, 07:28 PM |

QUOTE(rorytate @ Jun 21 2012, 07:41 PM) Bro Ein, lol. I wish. Should have planned tis much earlier coz i'm back again in KK unfortunately, else we would'eve arranged to camp in KL for a week at least to do some hunting; the next trip prolly be in december. Thanks for the link. Hmmn... it's not stated in my catalogue tho. Sometimes JDM version and our local version have differences thus making the JDM version more valuable in a way. Judging from my info, the Vanquish should be coming from Nippon country and i guess you were right Thanks for clearing the clouds Added on June 21, 2012, 7:44 pmBTW, talking about leader, have you tried a brand called Alpha-Ex (Alpha as in the symbol alpha) It's soft and pretty good in my experiences. For my light jigging, i prefer the Alpha-Ex so that my jigs would tango freely. But if big game like deep water or popping, Galis would be my preferences.. BTW, since you will be in Peninsular, would there be a chance for the whole group meet up? TT perhaps? Thanks for recommending an Alphas-Ex leader line, and here i am looking at Varivas; but do they have anything from 10lb and below? coz i intend to use this for my egi setup; fishing for squid actually. Whereabouts can i find the Alphas-Ex? This post has been edited by Einjahr: Jun 21 2012, 08:20 PM |

QUOTE(chun @ Jun 21 2012, 09:42 PM) You're welcome. I also agree with Sifu Rorytate on the Alpha-ex leaders... cheap and good... easily found in most tackle shops (kepong, Puchong etc.) although haven't seen any below 30lb lah... use it for jigging myself, i guess the fish in the sea not as smart as those in freshwater gua... especially those paypond Siakaps can differenciate 14lb fluoro and 20lb fluoro wan... sometime 6lb mono also can see... Heres a tip for you guys i'd like to share!Wow... 4lb mainline with 6lb leader i see most of the time people loose their lures is when during casting the main line snapped and the lure will fly to kingdom come... (of cos besides those that kena snag or went looking for monkeys in the trees lah If a lure gets stuck, make sure you have the heaviest sinker you can find and slide it down the line to dislodge the snagged lure. make sure you shake it vigorously, to knock the lure out of whatever it is stuck in. I tried it once and managed to retrieve my yozuri.. phew another thing, usually i tie a Uni knot to attach leader to braid, and to swivels and stuff; how good is an FG knot versus a Uni ? QUOTE(inv @ Jun 21 2012, 10:42 PM) FG knot is good if you are luring/baitcasting as it is a basically knot-free solution; won't snag on your guides and make you lose precious distance. Uni knot is a bit bulkier and if you cast often, you may damage the knot as it keeps getting snagged on the guides. ![]() goOoD feedback guys, thanks. QUOTE(max_cjs0101 @ Jun 24 2012, 09:27 PM) Thats in Kota Kinabalu. Sutera Harbor, been wanting to popularise the sport. Shimano Stradic, my trusty companion for 2 years and due for servicing, albeit a bit too quick on the retrieve; looking for a slower version on the gear ratio. |
