It is meant for those who can only apply after their main Sept intake. Jan intake is different as you will still need to complete a semester during a summer semester.
Put it this way. Jan-May 1st semester. Jun-Aug 2nd semester. Then you do Year 2.
Your friends who join the Sept intake before you, do: Sept-Dec 1st semester, Jan-May 2nd semester. And for them, the Jun-Aug is an awfully long summer semester where some of them take the chance to do internship or travel. After which they will do your Year 2 together with you (Jan intake) - you have caught up to them.

In anyway, just apply for Sept intake whenever possible.

thank you very much....Now i have ONE problem.....how to fill in the application form? it's a pdf.....
BTW since im waaay past deadline i think i have to go personally to muscle in.... actually I already have unconditional offer from UCAS, UCL chemical engineering....too bad I was really blur that time and applied for the wrong course....found out my true love is civil engineering...but was too late.
anyway my A levels result is Maths A* further maths A* Chemistry A and Physics A......do you think they can let me in like this? waaay past deadline???

choice 2: print on paper, fill it up with a pen, scan, email
choice 3: print on paper, fill it up with a pen, post
choice 4: download a free pdf editor, fill it up, email
choice 5: use the print to image function from the pdf viewer, then use paint..

If the admission office doesn't want to take your application, bring your result to the Undergraduate Admission Tutors of Civil Engineering (probably can find out on our website), they will be more than happy to help you out in the application for that result!

By "Undergraduate Admission Tutors of Civil Engineering" do you mean the real thing in Nottingham U or a website?

They are people. LOL, there will be 1 (or maybe 2) lecturer(s) being allocated as the undergraduate admission tutor. Their job is to screen the applicants especially for those borderline cases. That being said, they have the power to admit or disallow anyone.
*
I see. I shall resort to them should things go bad then. So i just ask them where is the undergraduate admission tutor and i shall meet him/her......great!

Okay. It's like an apartment, 3 rooms, one hall, one toilet. 2 beds and 2 wardrobes in each room. All 6 tables in the hall, and one toilet with 4 cubicles, 2 of them being the toilet bowls, one for hot water showering and the other for cold. It has 3 or 4 basins in total.

Don't think too much about orientation. We do it the UK way, meaning no bullying or what, just some simple tour and introduction on how to use the facilities in the university. Pay attention to the one about library as that tells you how can you get access to online journals.

In most cases, your conditional offer letter turns unconditional once your result is out and you have met the requirement. But I am not sure if Nottingham practises this so it's the best you inform them right away once you get your result, so that they can issue a new unconditional letter if necessary.
*
thank you so much. Now I need to give the accomodation office my expected date of arrival. therefore i have to know when does the orientation start....
btw yeah you should build a FAQ lol

anyone here doing civil engineering?
im a first year.
I think my structural and engineering mechanics lecturer sucks
since after A-levels Ive been wanting to deal with 3D problems, such as forces in 3D, moments, statics, all in 3D. I thought that I will learn it in my degree

mana tau,
my lecturer skips all the slides for the 3D tutorials, as if they are not important. Then he stresses A LOT on some very fundamental knowledge, such as the arrow of a vector indicates its sense, length magnitude, how to add or subtract vectors, etc etc.
problem is, a test is coming next week and I found out from the book he recommended to buy (which is supposedly a text book?) that there are a lot more to those 3D problems. And he didnt even touch on them.

Now im worried, if 3D is included in the test, I have a lot to catch up. He didnt even teach.

O_O I thought he was one of the better lecturers. I'm a first year civil student too.

are you serious?
did you see the way he skips the slides or were you not listening and got scolded by him so you think he is good just because he scolded you?

No point quarreling among coursemates. You guys will be studying together for another 4 years and be prepared to work as group together one day.

3D ain't fundamental fyi and is not just as simple as vectors and forces.
*
all i know is that he should have spent more time on 3d problems instead of stressssssiiiiiinnnggg sooooo muuuuch on 2d problems. vmad.gif
disappointed

He has his own way of teaching and I'm sure he just want to make sure everyone fully understand it. You won't want him to fast forward a topic which you don't understand, isn't it?

There are plenty of topics to cover in Structural module. So skipping 3D is actually good for you especially coming to final exam.
*
I understand that he has his own way of teaching and he just want to make sure everyone fully understand it. But he fast forwarded a topic which most of us don't understand, say, did you deal with 3D problems in mechanincs during your a levels or STPM?
