Hi everyone. I am new to this forum, a prospective student for this coming september intake. Application submitted on 6th of July 2012 and got offered on the 19th of July. Will be studying Electrical and Electronic engineering. Is there anyone studying engineering here too? Anyone taking same course with me?

Don't get a MacBook. Why run Windows on a MacBook when you are paying a premium for the OS itself? While the more popular engineering software supports MacBook as well, there is no guarantee you an get a crack version of it running on Mac OS. In the end, you have to resort to the workaround of running Windows on it.
BTW, if you join Nottingham, you'll have free copies of Windows 7, Vista, XP etc.

I think you'll use MATLAB only for foundation - but if you intend to bring it to the Netherlands in the future, you'll need to make sure what they use over there. For foundation level MATLAB, any new laptop will do - even the low-voltage CPU you see in super thin laptops will suffice - but if you want future proof it, get something powerful.

Why students get free copies of Windows? Office too?

People, add me at https://www.facebook.com/manfred.yeo if you dont mind smile.gif

May I know what is the induction programme about? How long will it be? I will be unable to attend the induction programme, will it cause any big problem to me?

Hey guys am back from Malaysia xD.
First time went to Kajang, walao, the city so dirth, rubbish everywhere! xD. But when I went to the uni, it's like totally different. So green, the air is so fresh xD. The staffs there are also friendly, I tried to find accommodation and they recommended me to find Ms. Sharon and so I called her, got a room in TTS5 she said that I'll be sharing it with another guy from JB. Regarding the visa, I asked the visa office and they said that I can come in with a tourist visa first since I've applied for my student visa already, so international guys like me, who haven't got their student visa, don't worry! smile.gif.

I'll be moving there next week, see all of u guys there! xD.

Hrmm, I'll give them a call tomorrow to see how it goes.

The officer tells me new students can even go for induction first before doing their registration. Both induction and registration can be done in one day. smile.gif

Wrote to finance yesterday.. but didn't get reply the whole day.. next tuesday need to pay already..

My tuition fee is RM42,000. already paid RM1000 deposit, and i want to pay full amount to be entitled to the early payment discount, does it mean i only have to pay RM40,160 (minus 2% and RM1000)?
*
You should pay the exact amount after u deduct the 2%, meaning u are paying 40,160 if you have paid the acceptance fee.
