True. most of the time, they would appreciate money over stuffs as they could buy whatever they need+pay bills
I may suggest if you want to give money for them to pay bills, it's better for you to take the bills and pay for them by yourself. I don't say all but I do come acrross some homes with bad caretakers who don't take all donation for the homes but for personal use. Thus, it's more advisable to pay bills for them yourself. As for things they need, they actually have a list of things either monthly or some weekly for food. QUOTE(sinleong @ Nov 30 2011, 02:48 PM)
hi,
While I admire your charity, I find some of your comments bordering on arrogance. Orphanages are not beggars. They are run by good people like you who wants to help less fortunate children. That does not mean it is a dumping ground for things you don't want anymore in your houses. So, please don't throw at them things that are out-dated and doesn't work. Most orphanages are small and over-crowded. If they take in everything people throw at them they will become congested. Please find out what they need before you decide you want to throw away some things from your house. As my mum tells me, if want to give, give something good!

Yes, it is very normal in this country to see people treating homes as like a huge garbage bin where they just donate everything they don't want and can't be used anymore. Even like torned clothes, or some with spoilt tv/computers. While I admire your charity, I find some of your comments bordering on arrogance. Orphanages are not beggars. You may not need to give them some real good things, but do give them what they really want. Simply for orphanage, they do need some education materials, which hardly people willing to donate some of them.

true... there are many household junks and even spoilt items were given for welfare. it's best to list it out properly and sent to them for scrutiny first. don't treat them like garbage bin .
It is advisable to call them, or better to pay them a visit before you're going to "donate" things to them. Do ask them what they need and they will provide you a list. You may look around at their kitchens for what they lack of. Most homes will have list of things they need which they will be updating it monthly, if not then two months once.
