What is the differences between the single Cat and the double Cat HDMI extender?

What is the repeater for? If can pm me the price also.

OK, let me explain a bit, might take some time,
HDMI repeater is like a booster that's repeat your HDMI source to another location x 2 times.
example: you are using a normal 30AWG 5 meters HDMI cable, but you want to extend it until 10 meters, then
you can use a repeater and add another 30AWG 5 meters so that you can reach 10 meters.
But if you use a higher grade 26AWG HDMI cable then both source and output can reach 15 meters x 2 = 30 meters.

Normal HDMI cable selling outside is around 30AWG which max length is 5 meters, anything longer than this then signal will start dropping,
where 28AWG HDMI can reach 10 meters, 26AWG HDMI can reach 15 meters, is just like your CAT5E/6 cable, which you can see some
reading on the cable, some 26AWG, some 28AWG, some even 24AWG, from my understanding the lower they are the better it is.

Yes, you are right, you need a HDMI splitter (1x2) and a HDMI double Cat5E/6 extender to do it, but you have to make sure the Cat5 cable must be at least Cat5E and above, then you can extend the HDMI signal to 60 meters by using the HDMI extender. (Lots of china made Cat5E cable claim that they are Cat5E but actually they are only Cat5, so if you want to make sure everything work than is better for you to have Cat6 cable)

Nope, no quality drop if you are using normal 30AWG HDMI cable within 5 meters,
anything more than 5 meters than quality will start dropping, then you will have to purchase
lower AWG HDMI cable (such as 28AWG, 26AWG, 24AWG...etc)

There are few ways of doing it:

1) HDMI splitter 1 x 2 LKV-312 (without extender since you going to extend it using CAT5E/6 cable, price cheaper)
2) HDMI Double Cat5E/6 extender (Can extend until 60 meters with 2 CAT5E/6 cable, Full HD and 3D supported, price cheaper)

or

1) HDMI splitter 1 x 2 LKV-312 (without extender since you going to extend it using CAT5E/6 cable, price cheaper)
2) HDMI single CAT5E/6 extender (Can extend until 60 meters with 1 CAT5E/6 cable, FULL HD supported but not 3D, price higher)

or if your distance is less than 20 meters
1) HDMI splitter 1 x 2 HDSP0102M (with extender, can extend until 20~25meters by using HDMI cable, but have to make sure the HDMI cable spec is at least AWG26)

I have the same plans to extend my Astro from living room to the master room. On top of the questions posed by tuckheng, I would like to ask, can we also control the Astro channels using a remote inside the master room upstairs while the set top is at the living room downstairs? Do we require a separate module, and do you have suggestions to hook it up together with the HDMI extender? I prefer a wired solution if possible, and I do have Cat5E LAN ports wired throughout my house.

Hi,
1) You can still control your decoder from the other end, but you need to get a device call "wireless IR extender", selling price should be around RM80 (distance should be within 60 meters on blocking area)
2) As your case, the CAT5E cable is ready then it will be a lot more easier, just get a HDMI splitter 1 x 2 (to split your decoder HDMI signal into two), after that get a Single CAT5E/6 HDMI extender (Max distance on Cat5E/6 distance 60 meters), but you have to be very sure on your CAT5E cable is really CAT5E standard, because after we tested most of the cable in the market, almost 50% of them is below spec (CAT5 but claimed they are CAT5E)

1) get a HDMI switcher 3 x 1 (1 gonna use for PS3 another 1 for bluray and 1 to standby purpose)
2) get another RCA switcher 3 x 1 (1 gonna use for normal decoder, 1 for DVD, 1 to standby)

Did you check your HDMI cable, bcoz LKV-312 is just a HDMI splitter, where else 0102M with built-in extender, but any AWG30 HDMI cable which more than 5 meters then signal will be blank.

Hi bro, my new house setup has got 5 TV's and all also I need to hook up with Astro B'yond. My electrician has already wired all the places with the Astro white colour cables (I don't know what you call that). Bro, i think you need to change all the white cable (coaxial ) to CAT6 cable before i can quote you, coaxial cable can only give you like RF quality (those outdoor antenna to receive free tv channel, TV3, TV8.....etc) not HD.

About the IR Eye cable which comes together in the package, may I know whether is it to connect at Tx side and place the Eye close to Astro Byond decoder and we'll be able to control it from Rx side? Do we need to place the IR Eye in line of sight to the decoder?
