not sure if its posted before, if so pardon me for asking
whats the shelf life for an opened and unopened fragrance?
Does a MFG date of the frag affects a lot?

thank you frag guru's notworthy.gif

As long as perfume is stored properly, it has no definite expiration date?

I agree with bugb34r, however the color will change slightly after using it for 3 - 4 years.

On the bottle or box they have logo like tuna can with number on it, like 12M, 24M & 36M inside it.. That indicate the official life span of the product.. The "M" stand for month, for the picture below it says 36M meaning the official life span is 3 years from manufacture..

But usually fragrance will last for a very long time if you store it properly. Example inside wine cooler, original box, dark & cold place without light..

If the fragrance is very old like 5 year ++, maybe the top note might change a bit..

And avoid places like bathroom, inside car compartment and other places that have direct light and heat, it will ruins your fragrance quickly.

Hope it help..

bro, i see u got terre d'hermes there...can u explain how it smells like?
*
the scent is a love it or hate it kinda thing, some people will find it obnoxious or loud in a way..

the sillage is def there, its unique in a way that, once you smell it, you will recognize it straight without a doubt.

from my untrained nose point of view, it smells like dried up orange .. its like dark orange-y on the top notes, or kinda like iso-e super smell.. vetvier ..
mid and dry down is like woody with orangy..kinda like you take a wooden plank, whack it onto bunch of oranges and then smell it with half dry juice on the wood...

the perfume last at least 8-12hours, for ppl that resent the smell of this would def. have a headache over it.. i would really recommend light appliance on it as ppl sitting next to you would def. smell it clearly

if you like the mid/base notes of this perfume but dont really like the top, i would recommend you try out guerlain l'eau pour homme.. they somehow resembles to each other in a way...

I tested L'instant de Guerlain just now. I don't know what notes are there in that thing but here's what I think to my untrained nose. Upon application, the first thing that I noticed was a burst of citrus but not that kinda fresh citrussy smell, this one is quite bitter smelling. It's like sour lemon and orange or something. After that, It smells like some kinda herbs and spices that my mum use to cook, I can't recall what it is but I'm sure it's some sort of spice or herb. Then, I smell something familiar and I think it's jasmine, it's not very strong but i know it's there somewhere. And the drydown to me smells like the chi kit teck aun pills , u know that small black round thing people use to treat diarrhea, and also some woody stuff. It's an interesting, dark and elegant cologne. It's not really bad but I don't think I can pull this of. In fact, I can't imagine myself wearing this. Definitely for people over 30 or 40 only.

Nice description of the Terre D'Hermes. I'm worried I've been using it too much though, it doesn't smell as strong as it used to (probably my nose getting accustomed to the smell) and I have to take care not to overcompensate by splashing more on

Kouros - YSL
Armani - Giorgio Armani

otherwise Acqua di Parma is a must have biggrin.gif especially when the weather is hot like here in MY, very refreshing.

I usually wear a different perfume during the day and at night. Bleu de Chanel is very nice as a 'night perfume' smile.gif

AdP is a hit or a miss.. its nice, barbershop feel, but i find it not very long lasting although the sillage is awsome..
some ppl find its abit like a indian/keling scent..

for alternatives, maybe you could try ted lapduis p.h or if you like fresh lemony scent, you can choose boucheron pour homme..

thanks,

its called ol nose fatigue.. your nose had grew accustomed to the scent
instead of spraying it only with one scent, you can rotate them .. nothing wrong with overspraying with a few more shots, we are more tolerant with cologne scent than sweaty body odor scent..haha
