生命是延伸。活着是体验。人生是旅程。相识是缘分。爱情是感觉。 结束是开始。走了是光阴。留下是回忆。
Life (forms) is to continue, live bcos of experince, life like journey, knowing bcos of destiny, love bcos of feel, end is start, time gone but leave is memory (recall). |

The purpose of life is...
...while you are trying to look for the answer, you are inevitably living in it, while trying to look for the answer for the question: "What should I do now?" That, my friends, is the purpose of life. This post has been edited by Deadlocks: Jul 28 2011, 10:06 PM |

Why human keep wild animals in the zoo? Its the same as what keep us on Earth or Universe, maybe we need to go out of the Universe to find out. So what if the Universe is just creator's game? Dinosaur not fun any more and make another kind of being that can invent themselves, maybe carry a bit of creator's intelligence, that is why no other animal have it.
If people love to watch movie and drama, it must be what the creator like about watching us. Make various race to challenge each other otherwise boring also. |

Somehow I share the same view as you If people love to watch movie and drama, it must be what the creator like about watching us. Make various race to challenge each other otherwise boring also. But then most ppl never even want to start to think about this, and rejected the theory right away |

There is no purpose. You are just a product of your parents' intercourse. You can make up different purposes for your life, but ultimately, it is you who decide the purpose, life itself does not contain any purpose.

QUOTE(SRLee @ Jun 17 2011, 07:44 PM) What is life's true purpose? Ultimately just fearing the end about to come...; to be judged & be eligible to enter...After entering university, life ends. You work and study hard, then after you graduate you enter the workforce and still, you have to work long hours until you retire. In my opinion, I can only find one purpose - to attain a higher spiritual being (assuming there exists a higher realm than our realm). What are your thoughts about this? What is your life's true purpose? But while waiting for the end, I live my life. I will study, learn, enjoy life, work for necessity, take good care of my health, have goals in life, play, perform necessary mission works, & etc... I should not really be fearing anything in this life (like I am now); I should instead really fear the one who can decide the fate of my soul... (However, it is mind boggling to think about the after-life...) Right now I am in life on Planet Earth; I will "live" it. Regards. |

The purpose of life is attaining true peace. I don't mean sitting down and listening to music. I mean actual peace - a world where everyone is happy and our efforts are recognised. Even when our time comes, you are more than happy to move on since you have attained peace.
Unfortunately, the world we live in does not seem to want to achieve this. It is a hostile world where not everyone will ever in the lives get a chance to attain true peace. Nature is absolutely the vital ingredient in attaining true peace. There are plenty of crooks and evil doers that challenge our very goals in life. There are times when "good" folks have to turn "bad" in the name of achieving their goals. As such, the generation that exists now and in the future will have to help others try to achieve true peace - be it at work, or with friends or family. Anything that will bring happiness and comfort. Life = attaining true peace. There are plenty of people out there who have left their jobs, become adventurers, become monks, founded charity institutions, etc. - - all in the name of finding peace. |

Could it be aspect of religion that keeps us going? I mean, you can argue that there are a lot of Atheist that lived on without religion , but the religion i'm talking about here is not just god and devils, it's more like the ultimate concern of your life. If you are an athiest and depend on yourself, the society will be your god, they will be the one giving the chances. If you think that only money and touchable objects are the only things that exist, then materialism would be your god. For me, i think, these are what keeping us living.
Take Japan for instance, after a series of tragedy to them, quite frankly, there are no point living anymore. So many things are lost, so many hardwork lost. But one was not lost, their religion. And these are just what i think, it is not aimed to anyone or a group of people with common interest in general. It is just an opinion. I know it gets a little sensitive when it comes to religions and stuffs. |

Why do we need a purpose / religion? If we have to ask these questions means we are created to live without them, it is a choice not a necessity.

Added on September 19, 2011, 5:44 pmTS you can try to learn Buddhism, I mean true Buddhism like those who live in temple in Sri Lanka. If you willing to throw away all your possession and connection with this world. Life purpose for everyone is the same, to SATISFY OURSELF, others are secondary. Doing charity, practice Buddhism, strive in scientific research, whatever they make you feel worthwhile and satisfying. This post has been edited by bashlyner: Sep 19 2011, 05:44 PM |

I'm not sure that which religion state that human can become God, you mean deity perhaps? For Buddhist their life purpose is to reach the state of enlightenment, or Nirvana. For Christian that would be return to The Kingdom of God. For Atheist, become rich? Become famous? I dunno, whatever that make you satisfy Just make sure that you able to guarantee the satisfaction can last for your whole life This post has been edited by bashlyner: Sep 19 2011, 06:19 PM |

You just assume what you know or understand about a non believer as Atheist from a believer point of view like they miss something, because of that quick to judge attitude, you misread my post, did I say become god? For Buddhist their life purpose is to reach the state of enlightenment, or Nirvana. For Christian that would be return to The Kingdom of God. For Atheist, become rich? Become famous? I dunno, whatever that make you satisfy Just make sure that you able to guarantee the satisfaction can last for your whole life I don't know what to do to feel satisfy, how to make satisfaction last a life time, just live until I die because I did not choose to be born. Your point of view is biased because you have chosen side, defending your conscience. I have nothing to defend waiting to be convinced or influenced but so far nothing seems attractive or offer the guidance, that is why I don't believe. I do have visions of the dead about his regret before I was told he is gone until two years later, is that a sign of Karma? Does that mean I am a Buddhist at heart?
