I just realised today that it appears that in Klang Valley, all analogue stations from Bkt Sungai Besi and KL tower has gone completely off air, No Signal at all, no more showing ASO message.

Guys, I'm using synology to scan myfreeview. currently seems like synology doesn't support malaysia.

any similar country and region/state to us that we can use as alternative?

Any SEA countries that uses DVB-T2 should be fine.
Australia, UK, also can one... Country doesn't matter much, as long it is DVB-T2, it scans UHF frequencies and the bandwidth is 8MHz, with the frequency range of 470-742MHz*, you should get it without any issues.

*Once ASO has completed and 700MHz band begin using for 4G/5G, frequency range for digital TV will become 470-694MHz.

Btw which area are you from? You can refer to the list of frequencies here:
http://www.mytvbroadcasting.my/pdf/Lists-of-frequency.pdf

Wangsa Maju Ampang and Cheras.

Problem is the videostation software is quite limited, can't even manually scan frequencies. only options available:

Maybe my area has no signal yet. haih
*

Oh, since it's within Klang Valley, just manual scan 666MHz (Channel 45) and 698MHz (Channel 49).
For Country, Singapore should be fine. As for Region, select "DVB-T2 All"

Your area no signal? Erm, why not try common methods like using a DVB-T2 box or your TV's built in digital TV tuner to try receive digital TV first?
How about your UHF antenna? Indoor or outdoor?

just received this SMS despite never use any of the service nor register interest with myFreeview before, is it send out to everyone or only interested users?

MCMC uses SMS blasting service to send out bulk SMSes to the mass public in the region.
Basically, they just blast it to every mobile phone users.

I believe MCMC do this is not only because they want to remind the public, but also to make sure those minorities who is still unaware of the analogue switch off, to make the switchover to digital TV now.

(They don't want later for those who still watching analogue TV would complain and have bad impression towards the government/MCMC,
saying that no one tells them about analogue switch off la, suddenly no TV signal la, things like that.
MCMC already reminded everyone and blasted SMS to the mass public, so if you don't take any further action to continue receiving TV channels after ASO (e.g. myFreeview digital TV or switch to Njoi/Astro, or others), then it's your choice, and the public should not blame whoever may be).

I dunno, just guessing...

btw, mytv transmission quality going down, gambar pecah. either transmission not power enough or not enough broadcast tower. cloudy and raining, sure signal lost like astro. doh.gif
so many years testing still like this, saw many bad comments on greenpacket decoder on cjwowshop feedback.

If you experience such severe pixelation issues, then likely it is advised to change brand new UHF antenna instead.
You know la, MYTV's digital TV signals aren't meant much for indoor coverage, so the viewer's UHF antenna must be good and powerful enough to receive its "fragile" signal.

Based on my previous findings, you could say that tonight's analogue switch off for northern and east coast region starts this midnight at 15 Oct 2019.
And the analogue switch off shall happen across different channels at these times:

12.00am = TV9
12.30am = TV1, TV2
12.32am (approximate) = TV3
1.00am = NTV7
2.00am = 8TV

So if you wanna countdown and see the analogue switch off for the very last time (if you're in Peninsular Malaysia), refer to the times above.

The earlier's episode of Majalah 3 programme on TV3, mentioned about MYTV myFreeview digital TV reception.
It talks about viewers staying in very rural areas that is unable to receive TV signals at all, where myFreeview is "here to the rescue".
Here are some screenshots, from Tonton TV3:

user posted image
This one is the DTH satellite dish installation. DTH is used where the viewer can't get any TV signals at all due to mountainous area and far away from DTT transmitter.

user posted image
This one I seriously clueless. shakehead.gif
It says "it isn't be affected by weather", yet the installer is connects the cable to the F connector port on the MYTV hybrid box, which is the port to connect to satellite dish
MYTV DTH satellite uses Ku band, so rain fade will happen, same like Astro. They should get their facts right before airing content like this... doh.gif

user posted image
"A 4, 5, or 8 element antenna" Hmmm... Is he referring to JP-5E and JP-8E UHF antenna? I read that it is a Malaysian brand product... tongue.gif

user posted image
This one talks about installing a UHF antenna in a rural area. And...

user posted image
...this is how they try to detect signal? Using a 5 element (5E) antenna is enough oh?
So this JP-5E outdoor UHF antenna is somehow "recommended" by MYTV? hmm.gif

Hmm, their digital TV signal finder device.

I see four elements there, two directors, one reflector and a folded dipole

To me it looks too broadband, those director elements are very short at <700 MHz and closely spaced
It will work, but not very well
*

Opps sorry. As I look closely, it's 4 elements antenna sweat.gif
I was wondering, the reflector and folded dipole? Is it important?
I see some UHF antennas out there, some doesn't have reflector and folded dipole. Only directors.
Does the 2 matter much?
I need some technical UHF antenna advice here biggrin.gif

And what you mean "too broadband"? You mean it should be widely spaced for better reception or what?
And I wonder how come I Google search on Malaysia's 4 elements UHF antennas but no result, but JP-5E one like very common...
4 elements is "limited edition" or what? Or they've stopped selling 4 element antenna as it doesn't work very well like what you said?

The folded dipole gives a better match to Yagi antennas. Many cheap ones just use a simple dipole connected to the coax - simpler to make.
Always the second element added is the reflector at the back, slightly longer than the dipole. This gives the biggest jump in gain
After this director elements are added at the front. These are shorter and more and more are added to increase gain, but this is diminishing returns. You end up with a very long antenna like those you see in Muar aimed at Singapore. Very fragile and spoiled by heavy birds

I prefer 4 Bay Bow-Ties like this, not available in Malaysia unfortunately
https://www.solidsignal.com/pview.asp?p=HDB4X
*

Hmm.. I'm somehow looking for a good UHF outdoor antenna that allow me to
- easy to set up, easy to dismantle, easy to keep. as long can dismantle into pieces and portable.
- transmitter distance from my place is about 50km, with almost clear line of sight.
- temporary type of installation, yet can get very good, reliable and stable signal even on ground level (not permanent on rooftop or 2m above ground)

I know outdoor antenna is meant to install on rooftop, but I want something that is powerful, strong, reliable, not too big yet can portable.

Which antennas would you recommend me that can fulfil my needs. I'm kinda confused on some antenna's directors are "rounded shape", some are flat shape type like JP-5E. Which is better??
https://shopee.com.my/Digital-Antenna-UHF-H...38079.313253815
JP-5E looks like easy to keep and portable, and many say that the reception is pretty strong and reliable, and pretty recommended.

https://shopee.com.my/JP-8E-Digital-Tv-Ante...8079.1666527125
This JP-8E is like the extension over JP-5E, but it doesn't seems like it can be easily dismantle into 2 pieces for easy keeping and mobile/portable. Reception wise, supposed to be better than the JP-E but to what extent?

https://shopee.com.my/ME-Uhf-HDTV-Outdoor-D...38079.435769904
Some say, more elements means better.

https://shopee.com.my/Homestar-Hsar-5700-Di...8079.1392113008
This 14-E UHF antenna with reflector seems pretty good, and from the picture and buyers comment photos, this one can dismantle into 2 pieces.
Hmm, how big is the difference between this and JP-8E and JP-5E?

Oh man, I'm confused... Which antenna do you recommend?

Analogue switch off (ASO) on 15 Oct midnight for Gn Ulu Kali transmitter:

TV9 show colour bar at 12am, and then shows ASO message at the same time as TV3.

TV3 close down around 12.33am after national anthem, then it crossfade (transition) to the ASO message.
Both TV3 and TV9 shows ASO message on 12.33am.

TV1 and TV2 suddenly become no audio on 12.34am. Video is up as usual. Seconds later, TV1 channel suddenly show TV2 (so random lol), 1 sec later, it switches back to TV1, seconds later, ASO message appears on both TV1 and TV2 channels.

Lol, not so smooth transition to the ASO for RTM channels. The broadcast guys must be pressed wrong button lol

Now, only NTV7 and 8TV is up on air. NTV7 is due to switch off at 1am, 8TV is at 2am.

UPDATE 1.00am: NTV7 is now showing test card. Less than 1 minute later, screen suddenly went gray??? Then ASO message appears. Then become gray screen again. Lol

user posted image
Media Prima likes it gray? Lol?
Btw ignore the weird vertical lines on the left... It's the poor signal thing.

Btw 8TV is found to be switched off at the same time too, which is so unexpected... I thought they'll end it as they close down at 2am, but turns out they wanna do it ahead of schedule....

So there you have it. ANALOGUE TV is FINALLY DEAD, in Peninsular Malaysia. After 7 days from today, all analogue stations will officially go off air (no signal at all) and that's the end of analogue era, for real.

They get really creative counting elements these days.
The second last is probably the best.
Why don't they make them 470Mz to 700 MHz, making a Yagi work all the way up to 860 MHz really spoils the performance
*

Why do u the second last is probably the best? Bcuz of more elements or what?

https://shopee.com.my/Homestar-Hsar-5700-Di...8079.1392113008
This one has 14 elements, more than the second last as u mentioned.
And gt reflector somemore. Does it mean this is better?
How to judge its build quality, gain, and other stuff from this?

And how about the difference between flat shape and rounded shape rods on the directors?

Hi, I have a problem with my newly purchased DVB-T2 box. I plugged the box into my tv with the existing tv antenna coming out from the condo (in PJ area) wall antenna socket, and scanned for channels. Only RTM and TV3 channels came up, like 5 of them, all worked ok. But Media Prima channels like TV9, 8TV and such cannot be found even after repeated scans, anyone knows what can I do? Will buying a digital antenna help? Thanks so much.
*

Can you confirm again what are all the channels you can receive on digital TV? List out all channel names.

How about the signal strength % reading? Is it high, like over 70% or something?

I am not at home now so I will just recall from memory. There was RTM1, RTM2, TV3, BES, and a Sports HD (unsure).

The signal strength is about 50% or less, definitely not 70-80% range.
*

If you're sure that you can get RTM channels and TV3 HD, then I'm sure you can receive all 2 frequency mux for the digital TV. Have you tried auto scan again or something?

Signal strength for about 50% seems pretty weak to me.
Check the condition of your antenna cable, or connect another new cable. Make sure it's the RG6 type, not those "not so good quality cable types" such as 3C-2V or 5C-2V.

If problem still persists, contact your building management to check their centralise antenna MATV system.

Example of the difference between the cable thickness and labels of RG6 or 3C2V cable.

Later when you're back home, take a closer look at the cable.
The cable there, shall have some labels on it, it may stated as "RG-6" or "3C-2V" or something...

During raining day, DTV display became block, and if Heavy rain, signal lost!

What's your area, and what cable type (e.g. RG-6, 3C-2V) and antenna (e.g. outdoor UHF or indoor) are you using now?
Is it connected to the centralised antenna (for your condo/apartment's rooftop centralise antenna) or your own antenna?

Where is the condo's location? Klang Valley? Which area?

Have you tried connecting to the TV wall socket point? No digital TV signal at all, or poor?

Seri Kembangan behind TPM. I got no signal at all for DTV, and pure snow for for analog, connecting to the wall plug that leads to a shared antena

There are 3 blocks of our condo and there are no problems getting signal for the high block (20 floors) but for the low raise block (5 floor), we only get snow quality of UHF since the build up of another high raise (40 floor) beside us. Building manager has no knowledge bout this at all.
I am thinking to get an internal antenna with boaster
*

If like that, contact MYTV customer service at 1800-18-1088 and see what they would advise. Maybe they can propose to building management for the centralised MATV system to support digital TV signals.

Indoor antenna with booster, hmm can try... But it's recommended to get an outdoor antenna instead, since a good quality indoor antenna has a similar price as cheap outdoor antenna. Example like:
https://shopee.com.my/product/6938079/313253815?smtt=0.0.9
You can try place it near window or near TV, not necessary have to install outside (if signal strong enough).

Just manual scan 666MHz and 698MHz, monitor at the signal readings while adjust/reposition the antenna until you get the highest Strength % reading possible.

I no longer can view any tv channels. My tv is Samsung DNIe and model LA32r71BAX.
I stay in an apartment. Apartments usually have a wall aerial socket.

1. Is my TV digital tv?
2. If yes, do I need the apartment management to install a master aerial or something?
Or, do I need an outdoor aerial? Or, can an indoor aerial suffice?
3. If no, I suppose I need to buy a decoder. With a decoder, do I still need an outdoor or indoor aerial?

Your kind advise please. Thanks.
*

That TV model seems like very old model already, so it can't support digital TV.
You can either get a DVB-T2 digital TV box, or buy a new TV instead. TV nowadays has built in DVB-T2 digital TV, also known as IDTV (integrated digital television), so no need to use DVB-T2 box.

Once you got it, connect it to the aerial port of your wall point.
You can contact your building management and ask if the centralise antenna, or MATV system supports digital TV or not.
If it doesn't support, ask them when will they upgrade the MATV system to support digital TV?

Otherwise, get an indoor or outdoor UHF antenna to receive digital TV signals. Do note that it may not be guaranteed that you will get signal if you use own antenna, depending on your apartment's facing direction towards the transmitter, geographical reasons, nearby obstacles, and others. So if can use the building's centralise antenna, then use that.

Hi i am using a sony android tv that supports DVBT2 digital channels. I have connected the tv to building antenna via the socket on the wall. However i can only receive the channels under “45” which are tv3,chwow shop, alhijrah, ntv 7, tv 8. However none of the channels under “49” are viewable. It says no signal. All the residents under the building i am staying in can receive all the channels. I have confirmed with management that the building equipped with centralised antenna system that supports UHF channels. All my neighbour can watch except me. The signal level for channel 45 is 80% with 100% signal quality whereas for channel 49 is only 26% with zero signal quality. I am staying in shah alam area. Anyone can help? I have called sony team to come over to my place and they told me its not a tv issue. I have called myfreeview as well and they are not in a position to help at all. Building Management team are not doing anything as well as the other residense can watch the channels without any issues. What can be a possible issues on my side. Wondering....

Maybe you can consider get an indoor/outdoor UHF antenna instead.
Depend on your location and other factors, this type shall be good enough.
