Still lose to Astro HD channels with 8 - 10Mbps.......... dry.gif

I dropped my Astro subscription 2 years ago when I still using a 1080p TV and they were still using MPEG-2 compression

I heard there were plans to switch to MPEG-4 but I dunno if it has been implemented since...

I believe myFreeview is using MPEG-4 compression right? Can achieve similar or better quality on lower bandwidth

I am on a 4K TV now, and the RTM HD channels look pretty good. It's nowhere near as good as what's available on Netflix or YouTube (definitely no need to compare to physical media), but as far as I can see the RTM channels look far better than the Media Prima channels, and can be considered boleh lah as far as I can see

Of course I don't watch TV.. just fooling around with myFreeview for curiosity value only. The only channel I tune to is BNC, and it's still in standard definition...

Hy, I just wonder if there is any difference in watching the same MYTV /astro channel with 1080p TV and 4k TV? 🤔

MYTV and Astro broadcast at a maximum of 1080i.

But ultimately how well they look depends on the video processing done by your TV but any perceived difference in quality is marginal at best.

I don't have any issues with blurriness watching 480p, 720p, or 1080p content on my 4K TV though.

I was able to receive MUX2 for a few weeks, but it went away some time last week (not sure exactly when, cos I rarely turn on FTA TV).

My location is Segambut, so I am assuming I am receiving from KL Tower

Question for sifus

Does myFreeview allow recording of their OTA stream?

I am using an LG OLED65E6, so I receive the DVB-T2 signal directly on my TV without a set top box.

The feature has recording capability via the USB 3.0 ports, but to date I have not been able to do so. I have tested with FAT32 and exFAT formatted disks, to no luck.

So I am wondering if it's a limitation on myFreeview or I am doing something wrong...

My TV model is SONY KDL-46EX65A (May 2012), I checked online and do not find anything related to IDTV or DDTV.  sad.gif

I just checked with my building management, and got confirmation they are upgrading from analogue to digital tv reception in few days time.. Now just the matter if I need to get a separate decorder to watch them.

I found this https://content.etilize.com/User-Manual/1021905743.pdf

Granted the manual is for the French version, but it does say DVB-T2 support (page 2). Just test by connecting your TV directly to the wall outlet, and see if you're able to tune in to myFreeview? Got nothing to lose by simply testing anyway, right? smile.gif

Hello

I'm staying at an apartment and connect my tv to the wall aerial socket (sorry not sure what it is called), before this i got all the digital channels (tv3, rtm hd, bernama). But starting yesterday all the rtm channels are gone. Tried auto and manual digital tune on my tv but it can only find the mediaprima channels. Anyone know why it cannot detect the rtm channels?

happens to me all the time too....

The Media Prima channels are transmitted by MUX1, while the RTM channels are under MUX2. MUX2 is always flaky for me, I would lose and them get them back every once in awhile.

I am using LG TV model 55LA7400- TC. It does has DTV gunner build in. However, no matter how I tuned it ( auto or manual) it prompts no signal. I am using condo central antenna & confirm no issue on that. Wonder why my LG TV can’t receive digital signal.

according to LG's website, this TV only has a DVB-T decoder.... DVB-T2 is needed for myFreeview.

oops sorry, thanks for updating

I use the term decoder, cos it's just a chipset in the TV to decode the digital data stream tongue.gif

I am using DTV.
When viewing 8TV for example, if using ATV, the TV screen display is FULL SCREEN.
But when switch to DTV, the TV screen is not full screen.
Anyone experiencing this problem?
Can fix this problem?
Or is broadcast signal problem?

PS : NTV7 also the same problem but TV3 is OK.

you're only seeing this on the standard definition channels right? that's because they are being transmitted in 4x3.

only HD channels are transmitted in 16x9 aspect ratio.

you need to change the aspect ratio to 16x9 on your TV.

slightly off-topic

turned on the TV yesterday afternoon, and was shocked that TV1 was airing Blue Planet II...on a weekday afternoon when literally no one would be watching it

the 1080i video quality was quite good though, although obviously cannot compare to disc or streaming services

just wondering why a great programme like Blue Planet II is stuck on a weekday afternoon...

just think it's sad it's being aired between 1:30pm-2:30pm... adults are working, and half the kids are in school

I remember when I was a kid TV1 aired National Geographic content at 7pm, which was a decent enough time to catch the attention of the youth

yes.. i think the promotion/campaign to switch over to digital has not really caught on to majority of malaysians. probably most folks already got astro?
*
if one already has Astro or NJOI, there really isn't a reason to bother with myFreeview. All the channels are available in either of those two platforms anyway.

literally no one in my family or my in-laws are bothered with it, thanks to Astro.
