Channel U (HD) will end transmission on Channel 35/586MHz or LCN 9 on 1 June 2019. Channel U (HD) remains on Channel 33/570 MHz or LCN 7 since the frequencies used by Channel U on Channel 35/586MHz will be handed back as part of okto's closure. Brief scrollers (in Chinese) is shown everytime after ad breaks/the start of programme on 586MHZ.

1 May - 31 May 2019 :
570MHz - CNA (HD), Ch U (HD), okto (ceased, showing information regarding closure)
586MHz - Ch U (HD)

From 1 June 2019 :
570MHz - CNA (HD), Ch U (HD) (okto is likely removed)
586MHz - Showing information screen redirecting viewers to watch Channel U on LCN Channel 7 and then closed few days/weeks after (likely) or abruptly closed (very unlikely)

TV9's analogue signal from Gunung Pulai went off for almost one week and interestingly, no one noticed or even bothered about that. (TV2 analogue was also down on a similar time but however it was later restored, and then went without sound carrier some time later). Analogue TV usage in Johor Bahru area is now a small minority, as almost all households in Johor Bahru area have already switched to digital TV due to Singapore's early switchover on 2 Jan 2019, or using Astro/Unifi/OTT platforms, and crappy rubbish teleshopping programming on TV9 means that it is gone unnoticed for so long.

RThanks! Just that they used to have the HD logo underneath the channel numbers! I thought Mediacorp has changed their broadcast frequency coz the channel U under my old designated numbers got the display that the channel has moved to channel 7 as in Singapore! Did a search on my tv and found channel u HD but just couldn't display! Thanks again! Noticed that TV3 of my also in HD now! But our my Tv  8 still no HD?
*
"HD" logo/watermark has been dropped on all Mediacorp channels since 1 November 2017. Recently (1 June 2019), Mediacorp has changed EPG channel names for all 6 existing channels on DTT as part of channel shuffles. "(HD)" is dropped completely. For example, "Ch 8 (HD)" was changed to "Channel 8". Service named labelled "Ch U (HD)" (transmitted on 586MHz) has been ceased transmission on 1 June 2019. To watch Channel U, find "Channel U" (transmitted on 570MHz) on your channel list. If not, please retune your set. If you cannot see Mediacorp channels in HD quality, check your connection as all of them are in HD.

8TV is available in HD, at this point on Tonton live streaming service only. Broadcast platforms are still in SD. Media Prima might move 8TV into HD in the future (at least for DTT), especially when the channel is one of their popular channels on their stable and their main competitors (pay TV) is already in HD.

thanks for the explanation, currently i unable to view any mediacorp channels, even i retune it automatically, maybe i will do it manually?
*
Frequency for manual tuning (Southern Johor area)
CH29/538MHz - Channel 5, Suria
CH31/554MHz - Channel 8, Vasantham
CH33/570MHz - CNA, Channel U
CH47/682MHz - MYTV MUX 1 (Media Prima channels, TV Alhijrah, BNC)
CH49/698MHz - MYTV MUX 2 (RTM TV and Radio)

CH47/682MHz and CH49/698MHz is harder to tune in some parts of Southern Johor due to interference from analogue signals from Batam. You may need to use CH30/546MHz and CH 52/722MHz instead of CH47/682MHz and CH49/698MHz if you live in northern Johor.

It is recommended to use outdoor UHF antenna perfectly aligned to Bukit Batok transmitter to perform tuning for Mediacorp channels. Indoor antenna will give variable results and can only be used within Johor Bahru area, and require careful antenna positioning. To ensure smooth reception, signal strength and quality should be higher than 70%.

My house is located about 15km from Pelangi transmitter (Johor) but I frequently have problem receiving signal for Media Prima channerls, TV Alhijrah & BNC. Sometimes OK and lots of time not OK.
No problem for the rest of the channels.
Is it because of interference?
Anyone encounters same problem as me?
*
Correct, co channel interference issues do exist from Indonesian analogue TV for both MYTV MUX in Johor Bahru area since day one. When MYTV signal started on 682MHz, SCTV analogue (also on same frequency) which can be received reliably in Johor Bahru area just via an outdoor antenna before the start of MYTV DTT was completely wiped out by MYTV DTT. Interference for MUX 1 is far worse than MUX 2 due to much stronger analogue signals. We can't do nothing unless MYTV DTT moves frequency or Indonesian analogue TV moves frequency/shut down.

Is it true to say that SCTV analogue channel is no longer possible to be receive in entire Johor Bahru area, because of MYTV DTT?
What if 700MHz LTE/5G started to operate? 698MHz is very close to 700MHz LTE band, isn't it? Will 700MHz mobile causes interference to MYTV DTT Mux 2 as well?
And does it mean that if 700MHz mobile started to operate, Mux 2 needs to be changed to other frequency?
*
Yup. It is no longer possible to receive SCTV in Johor due to such issue.
Regarding 700MHZ 4G/5G, nationwide retuning exercise will have to be done after analogue switchover and before the activation of 4G/5G signals on 700MHz. At this point MYTV might be better activating third multiplex (and other muxes), introduced alongside retuning. TV band will be left with 28 UHF TV channels (after 700MHz removal), and only 14 in northern Peninsular Malaysia/Brunei border area in East Malaysia, 8 of them will be left in South Johor.

Changes already implemented
- NTV7 and TV9 has show less CJ WOW SHOP, due to rating issues (overall rating is 2% for TV9 and 1.4% for NTV7 on Q1 2019). The addition of CJ WOW SHOP linear channel on DTT may have caused them to reduce slots. Hope that it will mean the return of children content (such abandonment has caused their rating to be given free to Astro) These slots are filled by repeats, their own content and for TV9's case, relay from Makkah mosque. These cost almost nothing to them.
- TV9 have went 24 hours since Ramadan 2019. It make sense as there are no need to shut down analogue transmitter after analogue switchover. Negaraku still plays on 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. for "closedown" purposes for analogue TV. For TV3's case, it plays on after Nightline (before that around 2.30 a.m) and before Tanyalah Ustaz.

in this case, we need to use 2 antennas combined?

Definitely yes for reliable digital TV reception. One pointed to Gunung Pulai and another one to Bukit Batok.

if the epg not updated, it's still useless, need manually press your record button. btw, official mytv's epg is so lagging, change channel still showing the previous channel's epg.
*
Not only that. MYTV doesn't attempt to carry EPG for other multiplexes. So that if you are watching TV3, you won't get EPG from RTM channels. This is the same when watching RTM channels on MUX 2, you won't get Media Prima EPG.

For few months before official analogue TV switchover, Media Prima has spilt into 2 playouts for each of their 4 TV channels, the first one is the normal feed (DTT/Astro/Unifi/tonton) and another one for analogue TV (which will startup and closedown before and after national anthem and testcard will be shown). Normal feed for NTV7 and 8TV, which still closes, went straight to testcard after the end of scheduled programming and some government messages as they had shown national anthem before then for analogue TV to closedown. TV Alhijrah will also flip to a logo picture overnights on analogue TV feed and had been done for sometime. This could be used in the future, for showing closure notices.

Wow.. Who set up that aerial antenna? Is it for sharing or private use? That's very big and tall one.
Good question, maybe for the future

The aerial is likely set up for private use, and likely in Batu Pahat area.

Darn, I am totally screwed! Strangely enough, the subtitle from brunei TV stations can be displayed just fine on the Openbox V8 Pro.....

Anyone can confirm if either one of these two China no brand name decoders can display the RTM stations subtitle?

I think this may be due to different subtitle coding method used in Malaysia. Anyway I will try to see that if that works on my recorder later on.

Upon checking, RTM is using HD subtitles. This will cause problems to some cheap off brand DVB-T2 decoders (which subtitles will be unable to display), however it should work fine for certified MYTV decoder or normal TV sets (this should not be said for some off brand certified TV sets, based on the comment of a forumer). Note that Mediacorp is using SD subtitles.

Al Hijrah has ceased its analogue FTA channel nationwide, and it is the first one to do so.
It appears that they don't do much announcements in advance... And just shut it off in a very short notice.
bebasnews.my/blog/2019/07/05/tv-alhijrah-muncul-stesen-pertama-mansuh-siaran-analog/

Announcements also done on Facebook and Instagram too.

Apparently the viewer numbers on analogue TV is too low for TV Alhijrah, hence the shutdown.

Those two content providers don't wanna broadcast those channels in HD at MYTV platform because the fee is too expensive.

One SD and one HD channel fees = RM6.7 milion and RM7.4mil per year respectively

Tonton online CDN (content delivery network at local datacenter) = do you think it will cost more than RM 200 000 annually ? laugh.gif
*
Tonton is using YouTube and Dailymotion to host their video, and it will be cheap to send these.
If any case Media Prima wants to switch to HD for 3 other channels on terrestrial platforms, it is likely that 8TV will get the switch first.

When you wrote SD subtitle, did you mean ETSI EN 300 743 V1.3.1 while HD subtitle refers to V1.6.1 addition?

https://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_en/300700...743v010601a.pdf
(Page 13 and 14)

V1.6.1 added support of subtitles in progressive-scan format aka progressively coded subtitle bitmaps.

.......aiyo......die lor ni macam........

DVB Subtitling systems revision history;
V1.3.1 (2006-11)
V1.5.1 (2013-09)
V1.6.1 (2018-07) (latest)

MCMC earliest draft for official decoder (Year 2008)
https://www.mcmc.gov.my/skmmgovmy/media/Gen...set_top_box.pdf
MCMC draft for official decoder (Year 2013)
https://www.skmm.gov.my/skmmgovmy/media/Gen...-100113-(2).pdf

So, in MCMC year 2013 document, there is explicit mention of Display Definition Segment (DDS) which means mandatory support of DVB ETSI EN 300 743 V1.3.1 if you look at page 13 and 14 comparison section of V1.6.1 document.

Based on https://www.mtsfb.org.my/download/guideline-and-technical data : Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd.....let begin with MTSFB information:

At MTSFB website, scroll down to MMT - Multimedia Terminal section, pay attention to Technical Specification for Free To Air Digital Terrestrial Television Receiver (Set-Top-Box) with remark " Cancelled and replaced by SKMM MTSFB TC T004:2013 "

However, if one checks MCMC MTSFB TC TXXX:2017 DIGITAL TERRESTRIAL TELEVISION (DTT)-CONTENT CONTRIBUTION, ENCODING AND MULTIPLEXING PERFORMANCE at MTSFB website above, the document specified ;
Thus, back to my original question...currently, RTM HD is broadcasting subtitle using which version? rclxub.gif
EDIT:
I tried to find out the subtitle format with no luck.
According to DVB Subtitling System;
.

Below is a sample data from RTM2 HD, PMT section eh?
user posted image
......subtitling_type = 0x10 (16)

rclxub.gif It just normal SD subtitle instead of progressive subtitle?
Now I am totally confused after reading page 28 and 54 of ETSI EN 300 743 v1.6.1
EDIT2: Anyone got singapore TV channels direct DVB-T2 TS capture with subtitle?
*
Or even Huffman encoding mode? That one I didn't sure. Maybe I was wrong then.

Rushed switchover without ANY MAJOR AWARENESS announcement. This is the same with TV Alhijrah, which only announced the switch off within the news and also some FB/Instagram post, which hardly reaches anybody. Viewers only realised analogue switch off had been done after when there is no signal for a prolonged period and found out the social media post!!!
