QUOTE(Eiraku @ Jun 16 2011, 10:21 PM)
The phone tracking through Sense.com is nice though. And really, phone tracking is more or less very useless in real life conditions, unless the phone can be tracked WHILE it's turned off or even when it's wiped clean/restored/reformatted. Also it needs to be more accurate.

I've learned that the hard way from losing my iPhone 4. FindMyIphone didn't help much once the perp switched off my phone. And it's rough tracking location is too rough especially in an urban setting like KL.

Won't stop me from installing an app to do that on the SGS2 though.
*
if i'm not mistaken, SGS2 should have something similar as well. i posted a link back in V4: http://v2.samsungdive.com/help/guideRemoteControlsClear.do

n mind u, the a5 was released months ago in the form of ipad2 and i5 wil use exactly the same thing as that, n dis gives samsung a few months of head start to catch up on a5........n u shuld nt compare sgs2 wif i4 since they r both diffrent generations, instead the previous sgs1 was much more powerful than i4.....
*
development of a product requires more than just 1-2 months. and design and specs are usually planned abt 1 year ahead. towards a launch, if competitor launches something faster, unless its significantly faster, otherwise, normally there won't be any delays or postponements. if anything, blame the intel for not providing good reports abt competitor plans... smile.gif

Added on June 17, 2011, 8:37 amif its a maxis promo/ bundle... from what i know... till today, their offer isn't really attractive at all. we end up paying almost the same price in the end.

that's why i'm still hoping digi will launch a bundle 1-2 weeks after maxis.

aiyah... lucky never post again... else 3 times liao... smile.gif

but seriously, i'm getting a bit disappointed with all the pre-registrations... it dun really tell much. like in this case and incredible s... ppl still need to rush and queue up and camp overnight. pre-register dun get you any extra thing -- and worse, it gives maxis (and digi for incredible s) your email so they can spam you in future... sad.gif

means is how much a month for voice+data for the next 24 months?
*
i guess depends on package you take. i think cheapest voice is rm30/mth. most expensive data (3GB plan) is rm88/mth.

is it just me or what... can't seem to find the details of the data plans... like average speed, limit, etc...

24months contract with maxis? it can be a nightmare if we're not careful..
*
nothing special about the deal from maxis but honestly, its not surprising. never believed maxis will come out with a good plan anyway. even the rm7xx for sgs2 requires subscription to the 3GB plan (rm88) for 24mths. that's a commitment of rm2112. and if i'm not mistaken, anything above the limit is still chargeable... not sure up to rm50 or 200.

but at least now things are certain, i can more or less make my decision... unless suddenly digi announce they coming out in 2 weeks time... lol...

QUOTE(irenic @ Jun 17 2011, 03:22 PM)
because of below..
when i was with maxis, i always been charged rm250 extra on top of my bill, due to my data usage is more than 1gb limit.. normally in maxis bill they put my data as 1.1gb.. always.

now on DiGi, with 1gb plan, there's only 1 month that i ever received sms from digi said that i've reached 75% of my 1gb plan.. for other months, my bills show data usage around 580mb only..
and i never change the way i use my phone..
*
yup... but if there's anything good to say about Maxis, i think they stop charging you for the extra monthly bandwidth once your charge is something like rm200 (meaning you have used this extra rm200 worth of download, they won't charge you more)... still... that's not really good. but better than no limit to the charge! smile.gif

what if for thise existing maxis user? like me....monthly rm30+500mb data plan.....i can just sign for 24months with 1399?
*
if i'm not mistaken... telco plans/ bundles are quite standard.

if your current plan has got commitment and you still have not finished serving it, you may need to nego with them to sign on new deal.

but if you got no commitment, then yes, yo can sign up.

honestly, i soooOOOoooo0 wanna get this phone but can't yellow fellow dun seem to wanna sell this. now my only option is to hope SenQ includes this model in their smartphone promo... smile.gif

i have not signed up for any yet but i think this is true... i won't say cheapest... but best value. they dun charge you extra, just throttle your speed after the limit. this Soya Cincau post is quite useful, though i think it needs to be updated with some new data:

QUOTE(irenic @ Jun 17 2011, 03:32 PM)
they gonna charge u max rm250 for the data only.. so let say ur monthly commitment is rm100, but u use data which is at the price of rm900.. so basically what u have to pay is just rm100 + Rm250. not rm100+150 = rm250..

i've used my sgs plan for just 6 months before i switched to DiGi, and maxis managed to charge me rm250 for 5 months..

i've paid them rm1250 + my bills for 6 months + RM1699 for the sgs + rm500 (contract termination).. and i'll never consider maxis anymore, unless they provide unlimited bandwitdh like DiGI.
*
yup... ya, i know its something like that. din really bother to find out more coz i personally dun like the idea that i can get charged for the extra -- never know... some rogue application went and do sth stupid...

and ya, so far... i only set my eyes on digi. work and house -- my digi is good. but again... why... why... why digi not having sgs2 yet?!? sad.gif

what data plan you guys subscribing that make Maxis overcharge the bill? I myself have no such problem before but I am using 3GB plan la.
*
i'd think that it applies for any plan with maxis. again, partly usage. if you dun have problems with your 3GB plan, it only means you dun use more than 3GB.

yehlai (2-3 posts above you) just posted average monthly usage of 8-10GB. based on that, he surely would already need to cough up an extra rm250.

QUOTE(Lineage @ Jun 17 2011, 03:35 PM)
do you know how much they throttle after the quota? thats good that it wont charge even over limit  drool.gif
*
after your quota, your speed is throttled to 128kbps. see FAQ @ http://www.digi.com.my/internet/smartplan/support.html

There's no news on whether Digi is bringing this phone in which is why I'm kinda in a dillemma. Maxis' plans are seriously uninteresting. The only thing working in their favour is that they give you a subsidy on phone price but then you have to consider bill shock as well.

Decisions, decisions tongue.gif
*
ya, i'm in the same dilemma as well. but i still can play around and give myself a few more weeks. this is all all-rounder phone that meets all my requirements (including 3G video calls) but maxis plan is not something i would consider any time soon.

i'm only hoping that SenQ will offer this... if they do offer, hopefully it'll be sth like the Sensation plan. i'll just opt for maybe 36mths with SenQ and forgo any telco subsidies.

Just received a message at 5:30am this morning saying,
"ALL Samsung in South East Asia had NOT ordered the NFC version.
ONLY Europe has placed order for Galaxy S II with NFC!"

Hey, what about the leaked photo of EZ-Link cards management??
Hmmmm.... ;-$

Eh, this thread is about Galaxy S II why talking about mobile phone plan packages?  doh.gif  I know it came with the phone plan at an attractive price, but please if you wanna ask questions about mobile plans, please do so in carrier thread; Maxis/Digi/Celcom. Else this thread become hard for people seeking info about this phone. If insist of talking about mobile plan that comes with this phone, please keep it short.

By the way, anyone owned this phone yet? I mean officially from Samsung Malaysia with Southeast Asian Region ROM and hardware. Coz as I know, Galaxy S II has two versions; one with SAMOLED PLUS display + Orion SoC, AND another one with Super LCD + Tegra2. I suspected Southeast Asian version of Galaxy S II is the Super LCD one, as the price of RRP RM2099 is just too cheap compared to HTC Sensation.
*
so far, other than nfc and non-nfc variant, there is no other variants in market., if i m not mistaken. all combo talks are speculations for now.
