Hernandez, Rooney, Welbeck, Berbatov, Owen.
Bench Hernandez/Rooney or push Rooney out wide, but what about the 10 wingers that we have?

I know Young's addition would be great towards the team. He's epl proven, and has been listed in the PFA team of the year twice(07/08 and 08/09), its such a pretigious to win one because they rate you based on the whole season's performance, not one game or one month and the votes are professionals. He's also at peak age(going to be 26) and i know he has much to offer. But at the same time, I'm also overexcited over sanchez, wow imagine if he can be our another ronaldo, he's young and talented, but of course there is a gamble. The desicion will be in manutd's hands, the best will come to us.

Glory glory Manchester United! smile.gif

i think quite a number of us are slightly leaning towards Sanchez.

All because who doesn't want to see a player at OT dribbling with all that pace and have such trickery and skills. I'm sure Man Utd fans all over the world would love to see him playing at OT. We remember how it was when Ronaldo play for United, don't we? Lol.. with that pace and skills.. it was entertaining.. and maybe its time to get that 'spark' back in United.

Sanchez is a type of player similar as Valencia isn't it?

unless he can play left wing, Valencia and Nani is capable to fit in right wing nicely

Not really, he's skillful and likes to dribble, has the pace too.

Valencia is more of a traditional winger.

Sanchez is like 'samba' if you will, young kid that bags shitload of pace and tricks.
A fine example is Pato aka the duck, before Milan went for him, he was just this kid who is quick and tricky. but now he has developed his game into an even better player.

Udinese hasnt play him on the left if im not wrong.. but that kid can shoot... the same way Young loves to cut in and shoot from left.

what's with these Sanchez love affairs? most of you, seemed to be post-Ronaldo United fans, aren't you? Ronaldo is talented, no doubt but he is selfish at times. Which frustrates me to no end. Yet, you guys complained about Nani. Funny, ain't it?

Knowing SAF, he will try mend whichever places HE THINKS that are weak or need reinforcements. It is very unlikely we change our play because of new additions to the team. It has always been, new additions adapting to our gameplay.

And I like United as a team better than United playing based on a single player, which was Ronaldo back then. Effective, yet not very entertaining.

Oh, I would like to add, I do welcome him if he is CONFIRMED on joining us but I would rather have Young than him.

De Laet in Norwich medical

QUOTE
Skysports.com understands Norwich are closing in on the loan signing of Manchester United defender Ritchie de Laet.

De Laet impressed during loan spells with Championship trio Preston, Sheffield United and Portsmouth last season.

The 22-year-old is highly-rated at Old Trafford and United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes a loan spell in the Premier League is the next stage in the defender's development.

A number of clubs are believed to have expressed an interest in signing De Laet, but Norwich look set to win the race for his signature.

Canaries boss Paul Lambert is thought to be a big admirer of the Belgium international and is keen to bring him to Carrow Road.

The Premier League new boys have lined up a season-long loan deal for De Laet and if the former Stoke man seals the move he will become Norwich's fourth signing of the summer following the arrivals of James Vaughan, Steve Morison and Elliott Bennett.

De Gea inspired by Van der Sar

QUOTE
Manchester United target David de Gea has revealed he wants to follow in the footsteps of veteran goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar.

Sir Alex Ferguson is lining up Spanish shot-stopper De Gea to replace Van der Sar at Old Trafford after he retired at the end of last season.

And while the Atletico Madrid youngster has refused to talk about his future until after the European Under-21 Championship in Demark, he admits he is flattered to be tipped as the Dutchman's successor.

He told Gazzetta dello Sport: "The fact they are thinking of me as a replacement for such a great goalkeeper is something I like.

"But it's necessary to keep fighting and working hard because we are only at the beginning and to reach that level there is a lot more to be done.

"Let's hope (I can play like Van der Sar at his age). At the moment it's difficult to look so far ahead, but I would like to (be able to).

"I need strength, luck and to take good care of my body because football consumes you. But let's hope so."

Reports in Spain have claimed that Premier League champions United have agreed to pay Atletico a fee of €21million (£18.8m) to secure De Gea's services.

When questioned about potentially becoming one of the most expensive goalkeepers in history, De Gea replied: "It doesn't interest me, they are numbers, clauses, prices.

"The value that really counts is that which is shown on the pitch, not what they say your value is.

"Money is secondary, being so expensive is not something I like especially; I'm interested in what people think of me on the playing field."

Despite the fact he could be plying his trade at Old Trafford next season, De Gea admits he was rooting for champions Barcelona to win the UEFA Champions League final against United at Wembley last month.

He said: "(I supported) Barcelona (in the final), but without any special euphoria."

Wont surprise me if we get another Arsenal-Chelsea back-to-back as what we did for last 2 seasons IIRC?

David May tells M.E.N. Phil Jones is a perfect player for Manchester United

QUOTE
David May knows exactly how Phil Jones is feeling following Manchester United’s £16.5m swoop for the England Under-21 defender.

Seventeen years ago, when the Reds’ new boy was just two-years-old, May made the same step up from Blackburn Rovers.

May was five years older than Jones and made the switch from Ewood Park to Old Trafford for a more modest £1.2m, so Sir Alex Ferguson’s 2011 summer buy from Rovers has even more to cope with as he contemplates life with the champions next season.

May joined the ’94 double-winning Dream Team and was immediately daunted by the challenge he had taken on at Old Trafford.

But he has words of comfort for Jones.

“You may have been to Old Trafford before and played there and you know it is going to be bigger than a small club like Blackburn, but it is not until you are in there that you realise how massive the club is,” May told M.E.N. Sport.

“I was over-awed by the size of the place. I walked into the dressing room where there were title and cup winners like Peter Schmeichel, Paul Ince, Mark Hughes, Roy Keane and Eric Cantona. All huge characters.

“It is an awesome situation to go into, but I can assure Phil then you get used to it. Your character eventually comes through and you start to feel more comfortable.

“I don’t know Jones, but to have impressed the way he has in the Premier League as a 19-year-old means you have to have a certain strong character about you.
Hopefully, he won’t be fazed by it.

“Despite the names and achievements of the players around, when I joined they were all still very welcoming and I am sure Phil will find that in the current dressing room.

“It’s all about the team at United and they want players to come in and feel part of it. That helps with the spirit.

“In terms of what he is walking into, you could not find anything better anywhere. You have the best boss in the business in Sir Alex Ferguson and the best players in the Premier League. You cannot buy that kind of experience.

“For a new player going to a place like Old Trafford, you could not have it better to settle you in and get you playing your natural game.

“Even though I was awestruck at first, I eventually warmed to it and fed off it. I am sure Phil will be looking forward to it in the same way and will benefit from it.

“The other great thing he’ll get is patient backing from the United fans and that is absolutely vital. They stick by their players at Old Trafford. The support trust the manager’s judgment and they are very, very patient. That is a huge help for any young newcomer.”

Like Jones, May had versatility to his game that enabled him to play right-back as well as the centre of defence.

The £16.5m capture is comfortable in the number two spot, central defence and in midfield.

“I hope he’s a better right-back than I was!” joked May.

“I have watched Phil a few times and he certainly has the right attributes. He is an out and out defender and very much in the Nemanja Vidic mould because he is strong in the air and loves a tackle. The timing of his challenges and the way he reads the game is superb.

“But not only has a Vidic look about him he also is very comfortable coming out of defence like Rio Ferdinand.
I have recently been playing in the Masters football in Barbados for a United side and was alongside Ronny Johnsen.

“We were talking about Phil and about what a good purchase he was, but I was also thinking how much he also reminded me of Ronny. Ronny was versatile. He was a great centre-half but could also fit nicely into a midfield role. I think Jones could do a job like Ronny.

“There is so much scope for him to improve. He has seen the improvement that Chris Smalling has made since he joined from Fulham. It will be great to have been able to talk to Chris with the England Under-21s about the club.

“He has seen someone he knows pretty well cope with it superbly and I am sure that will give him confidence. I’m sure Chris will also be telling him how much he’s learnt from Vidic and Ferdinand.

“To have two of the best central defenders in the world to learn from is just fantastic for any young player. Listen, look and pick their brains and you cannot go wrong.
“He can only improve – he isn’t going to get worse.

“When he finally gets to join up with the United players for pre-season he will look around that dressing room and think at 19 with a five-year Old Trafford contract that he’s the luckiest lad alive.

“I am convinced he will measure up and do United proud. £16.5m might seem a lot but I am sure we will be looking back in years to come and talking about Phil Jones being a bargain.”

Or Liverpool-Chelsea again. Might as well put Arsenal-Liverpool-Chelsea-City-Spurs back to back.

honestly i'm not much of a ronaldo fan.
as talented as he was he had an ego the size of jupiter and to me looks like he disrupted the flow of the team.
and the way we played.
but luckily his talent matched his ego and we did manage to win with him around.

alot of people say he is like ronaldo.
i was hoping he will be more like giggs but with a less active private life.
giggs going to be tiger woods II? sweat.gif

i've the same thinking as you.
although the system we play rarely change according to the players we have.
but different players bring different skills to that position.
e.g. for right wing
beckham is more of a curling crosser
ronaldo is more of a trickster, cut in and score
valencia is more of a traditional english winger...fetch long ball pass from defense.....run....then cross to strikers
pjs is more for breaking up play and striker support

My view is that we already have a great set of wingers and any 2 of those can rival anyone out there aside from Ronaldo/Messi and it looks like we're going to add Young for the coming season with everybody saying it's done. If we're going to spend big, I prefer to see a CM.
