yeah, the reason is tha diffrent Flash manufacturers have different specs/settings.
the oem tool is used to determine the optimum & safe settings to tap the performance of the chip. |

@biatche, it's great that u're doing something for the *sophisticated* malaysians that need fast read+write drvies (within a reasonable price).
ur bulk sale is quite interesting though. lemme go through some research ya! btw, have u tried to get from Apacer (Taiwan)? APacer has a 200X drive called Handy Steno AH522 (http://ap.apacer.com/ap/products/Handy_Steno_AH522_200X.htm). Performance: Read: 30MB/sec; Write: 12MB/sec. or OCZ Rally2 Turbo (Up to 35MB/s (read), 30MB/s (write)) @ http://www.pendrivereviews.com/ocz-rally-2-turbo/ <--am very interested how much is this This post has been edited by cybpsych: Jan 9 2010, 07:30 PM |

the Extreme Contour is a refreshed series.
possibly they're using the new NAND chips that allows them to scale higher capacity (64GB per unit) http://www.sandisk.com/products/usb-flash-...usb-flash-drive i thought the body is Red |

is it availabe in Malaysia?
can it be purchased in Malaysia? who's selling in Malaysia? anyway, performance is so-so: QUOTE Fast transfer - Rapid read/write speeds (up to 15MB/second read**, 9MB/second write**) mean waiting less and sharing faster http://www.sandisk.com/products/usb-flash-...ve?tab=features |

QUOTE at least 20MB/s on write impossible for <RM100. even with the fastest from Sandisk, (theoretical) max is 18MB/s. alternate is Transcend 600/620: max write is 18MB/s. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1115920 . Price= RM155 for 16GB harlo, Kingston Value series are the worst kind. using cheapo NAND flash, it will die faster. |

QUOTE(MrPotato1990 @ Apr 4 2010, 10:02 PM) yeah, it's true...sometimes, some of then show incorrect amount of capacity, or faulty... However, we can check with kingston whether the pendrive is genuine or not.... Just visit kingston-asia website, and check your kingston product.... Have done that with my RAM.... the fake drives are done with the "production" software to trick the firmware to "show" specific amount of capacity. e.g. actual 4GB unit, u can use the production software to force the firmware to show 8GB/16GB listed capacity. Upon plugging to systems, it will show what it was "told" to show. the only way to KNOW if the pendrive has true USABLE capacity is to do a FULL REFORMAT and REFILL the whole drive with data. another easier way: use this software called H2testw ( http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1145346 ) |

the atto numbers looks very good la bro.
I dont rely sisoft's number cuz it's a weighted number. to be sure, do a manual filecopy operation (move 8-16GB file) and do the timing. |

doesnt really matter cuz if plug on usb2.0, it has max speed of 30MB/s read & write <-- still better than most capalang drives out there.
