Same here, would like to know as well. Haven't had a chance to test drive the car myself yet.

Maybe we should add more information on the first page.. something like the Preve page.

Makes it easier for newcomers as well not having to ask the same question several times.

hey guys, i'm about to receive my new city next week. was wondering, what kind of security is recommended? is pedal lock sufficient enough? if so, any brands recommended? thx
*
You didn't opt for Connex?

I think at least a steering lock (T-Rex or similar), and brake pedal lock (Autolock) if you want to leave your vehicle for more than a day.

That's what I use for my current ride..

my dad's 4years old honda city has a weird problem..

whenever the car hits 60km/h.. the car starts to vibrate..

the vibration was like when ur car is driving over uneven surface road..

anyone experience this problem?
*
Maybe tire balancing?

so are you using Connex or both steering lock & pedal lock?
thx for your feedback btw
*
I haven't got my City yet, driving Swift now. But already booked mine and asked the SA to install Connex as well. I always use steering lock every time I park my car in shopping mall or at home at night.

I only use brake pedal lock if I'm planing to leave it for more than a day somewhere I'm not familiar (like when going to Pankor Island and you had to park at the Jetty parking)

To me I rather spend some extra $$$ now so I don't have to worry so much about it every 5 minute than spending the $$$ on bodykits or other accessories.

Hi all, is anyone using Stoplock Pro? Does it fits with the City steering wheel? Any issue?

looking from the url, it fits out steering. Since Honda City steering is universal for a few variants such as the civic FD, Fit/Jazz.
You're right, just realised the picture is showing a Honda steering. Haha. Thanks!

i am hitting 42k km ... average tank has always been 400 ... average 400, bad days 350, good days 500(lil bit more on highways)
*
My previous Swift 1.5 (A) can do on average 450km (40% city/60% highway) per tank (RM65).. I always thought City got better FC due to the i-Vtec engine.

Hoping to reach 550km - 600km per tank when I get my City.. Possible?

mine is city driving ... always get stuck in jam ... and i tekan quite crazy at times ...

possible if you dont tekan ... keep contant 2 - 3k rpm
*
Thanks for the feedback, good to know that. I can only get at best 500km per tank with my previous Swift but that I need to drive like an uncle, avoid traffic jams at all cost and keep speed below 100km/h.. haha.

i dont, hit 100 on normal roads, highways 140 ... and i get 400
*
At 140km/h, does the RPM exceed 3k?

I've read since it got 5 gear, when cruising at highway the RPM is lower quite a bit compared to a regular 4 speed AT.

Also question for the paddle shift.. does it work like a manual car? Say if I upshift earlier when driving, does it have any impact at all on FC? Basically trying to keep the RPM below 2k since on normal 'D' mode it might took longer to upshift.

btw, are LDP or federal considered as highway? LOL ...

I never ever touch 500 per full tank .. even 480km ... the best is 470++ but normally around 430-450 km ..
*
Technically yes both is highway right? Haha.. just that there's too much traffic during the day so can count as regular city driving. I usually drove back home using LDP at 10pm. Very little traffic so can consider highway at night biggrin.gif

Have you tried driving along the Plus highway all the way to Ipoh or Penang? Should be able to reach at least 500km per tank I think.

but yeah i guess can hit 600 easy if travel highway 100%

That's pretty good for balik kampung.. well at least compared to my previous Swift.. Haha.

hey guys,

SA told me i will be getting my white e-spec next week biggrin.gif

anything i should look out for when collecting my car? and any common issues? because frankly, all cars do.
*
Congrats mate!, probably just check the chassis and engine number and make sure it match up with the paperwork?

Or you can refer to this list, really check kaw kaw on the spot. Haha.

QUOTE(kslee79 @ Jul 26 2012, 06:45 AM)
At 140 km/h on 5th gear, it's at 3000 rpm.
Yes, should be lower RPM than regular 4 speed AT.

Yes again, there's an impact on FC (when upshift too early) and can be observed on the vacuum FC meter gauge on the dash. Paddles shift works quite like manual but it has its safeguard electronics in place so that you won't go over-revving.

I find in D mode, shifting up is fast (at lower RPM) rather than my preference (in mnaual mode) at higher RPM (for more acceleration). Shifting up early is good for FC if you prefer gradual acceleration.
*
Hey thanks, just as I thought. biggrin.gif

anyone can comment on noise insulation for FL city? does it really improve or just a marketing gimmick..

recently i test drove the new civic and am impress with the cabin quietness..
*
You didn't had a chance to test drive the FL City as well? Most likely not going to be as quiet as the new Civic that's for sure.

The thing is, I don't think anyone who already owned the previous 09 City would want to test drive the new FL City unless they just curious.

It's a bit quieter than my previous Swift at high speed but that's about it, nothing to shout about. Definitely not as quiet as say a Peugeot or a Ford or other continental car. Can't really compare to Inspira or Preeve as well since haven't sit in one yet.

You can always soundproof and Autofoam the car later if you're happy with the NVH. Hehe..

hey guys, plan to change my 15'' rim to 17'' rim

so those sifu that changed their rim to 17'', how was it? need feedback regarding pros and cons
*
I'm not a pro but here's my thought (a lot of City sifu gone already, dunno go where? haha).

Pro
+ Look nicer
+ Better cornering ability since you'll be using a lower profile tire, less flex to the sidewall I think

Cons
- Comfort reduce a bit since the low profile tire size
- Tire price more expensive
- FC might suffer a bit, unless you go with a lighweight rim

Like I said, not a pro but just my 2 cents. This probably apply to any other cars out there but with a 17" rim on your ride, sure look very nice thumbup.gif

Don't forget to show us photo later. Haha.

not that i didnt had a chance, but i dont bother to test as i own the pre-FL (if improve then i'll be jelly.. hehe)
as long there is improvement, should be ok as current also not bad.. need to spend 600-700 for door and firewall SP, then ok oredi lor..
*
Did you bother to do any soundproofing at all on your current City?

QUOTE(earl-ku @ Jul 30 2012, 11:07 AM)
Just came back from the sc, been having this weird buzzing humming sound when ever i accelerate ... sounded very electrical like when the compressor kicked in ...

Test drove with the mechanic and he mention its like when the hybrid motor kick in .... hahahaha but he did agreed its very much electrical ...

He jacked it up and found out there is double metal shielding near the exhaust right after the engine which was sort of bent and the vibration when accelerating is causing that weird eletrical like buzzing ...

He fixed and sound was gone ...

Weird
*
How can that metal shielding bent? Seems weird that metal plate can bent just like that.. but glad they sorted it out for you.

Hi Sifu here. I heard tappett sound on my engine very loud even my car engine is hot. My car only 19k km. Is this normal to city? Thanks
*
Is it very loud? I don't think that is normal though. Better send back to SC and get them to check. For something very obvious like this, it should be easy for them to identify.

Just curious, does it sound like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MS1KrGVbkE

Hi Winterwish, Yes the sound is exactly likdis. And after i drove about 30mins and the sound is still there was so loud, is it normal?
*
That seems bad, I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure something is definitely not right. Maybe better if you book an appointment with SC at your nearest place and get them to check.

Speaking of tyre, since the spec E tyre size is quite rare.. if I change the tyre to say 205/50/R16 will it have any noticeable different in terms of FC and comfort?

What about 205/55/R16? Will it fit?

Xin, the Michelin XM2 seems really nice but the price.. urgh.. sweat.gif

yes,i want to know too if anyone have change the stock 185/55 tyre to 205/50 without changing the stock rim(honda city e-spec)
*
There's plenty of people already change to this size, I did some research few days ago on several Honda City club forum and seems like it fits just nice (maybe a bit too wide for the rim but can fit).

Just not sure about the FC and comfort but handling seems to improve (and high speed stability as well)

QUOTE(minglol @ Aug 2 2012, 10:02 PM)
HI all, I just get my new city e-spec since last week. Just saw you guys discussing about tyre, if not mistaken, the original tyre coming with is 185/55 continental brand.

If not mistaken Continental is famous on quiet, but it still quite noisy in high speed. Please advise me the brand xxx/xx (sorry dont what is this so called)
*
The stock E spec tire is Continental ContiPremiumContact 2, do you plan to change it?

That's good to hear,i'm currently thinking to get michelin ps3 or good year eagle directional 5,seems michelin ps3 price is steeper than the one for good year.which do you think is better?
*
Sorry I have no experience with both of the tire, but Michelin sure nice ah..and the price also sweat.gif

You may want to check the fitting first if you plan to use 205. Some people might not like the 'doughnut' shape since I think there will be some bulging on the side. But it's good to protect the rim though. Haha. tongue.gif

Have you considered Nexen N8000? From user feedback it's seems pretty good, not as good as Michelin but the price is a lot cheaper too. You can check the review below

Guys, they will fit, but it will look weird. Given the offset on the E spec rims, the tyres will jut out and will not look proportional to the rims and cars. You can always ask the tyre shop to try one on for you. Go to a shop you're familiar with or a more professional one, they wont mind showing u how it looks when fitted onto rim (provided you're really going to buy a set of tyres from them). I recommend Shah Alam Tyres & Auto Accessories Sdn Bhd Look for Jeff Liow (012-2997 021) Friendly and knowledgeable chap. Their FB Page.

I replaced mine from stock tyres to Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 R205/45ZR17 (changed rims) and now 195/55 R16 87V TL YOKOHAMA ADVAN A10. (back to stock rims) Read more: here.

The wider 205 tyres will go nicely with 17" rims. However, 195/55/R16 is perfect for the E spec rims. Just slightly wider than the stock tyre, it provides protection for the rims. From my experience this 195 definitely feels more grippy when manoeuvring over corners.
*
The thing is 195/55/R16 is quite rare right? There's not much choice of tire for this size. But it does look nice and flush with the rim. What other tire would you recommend?

QUOTE(xin @ Aug 3 2012, 12:18 PM)
Here's how the 205 will fare on our 16" rims. It does jut out abit but to my preference it is still acceptable, same as 195 it also can serve as a purpose to protect the rims too. Up to one's preference, if 205 jut out is acceptable then can consider it or else 195 is a good choice. Of coz 205 will provide better rolling resistance and the same time better cornerings and stability but wider tyre means higher FC hehe ..
*
That's not bad actually, the donut shape is not very obvious but a bit worried of the FC though. How bad can you say? This size seems to have a bit more choice of brand and model too..

QUOTE(minglol @ Aug 3 2012, 03:42 PM)
Just get new car, dont't have spare money to change it. But would like to know whether the quality is good or bad

BTW just realized Honda City Pick Up is not really good as i think lol~ flex.gif
*
I think the stock tire is fine in terms of FC and normal usage but I've read people claim that during high speed cruising (above 160km), the car seems to 'floats' from left to right. With 195 or 205 size the car is more stable at high speed.

What car you drove before this?

I don't plan to change my tyre right after I got my car but if high speed cruising will cause the car not stable then maybe will consider.. hmm.gif
