Funny how right wing doesnt get the same attention as left wing.

IMO both needs class players but i still went with left because our width on the right is provided johnson.

Its as if our left sided players are all cursed with something over the years.

Aurelio, agger,(latest one)carroll always injured.Riera, konchesky, insua, kromkamp and riise just not up to the standards required. sweat.gif

only reliable player we had was arbeloa and Real took him away sweat.gif

I think right wing is not that important just yet considering, we have Kuyt there.

Then, we have Maxi, Gerrard, Henderson all able to play there.

Left wing is a bit out of space. So, I think we need more reinforcement there. Adam can play there. Downing will be a better option though with his crossing looks delicious for Carrol.  biggrin.gif

Sorry,but i dont like maxi sad.gif

QUOTE(solstice818 @ Jun 11 2011, 12:12 AM)
I actually think Aurelio is better than Riise. It's just that he is too weak and fragile that I worry most of the time that he will be injured when he went in for tackles. Surprised me that he didnt break his own leg but he lunged in on Adam Johnson last season. laugh.gif  tongue.gif
This , you have to ask hfi. He is a huge fans of Maxi.

To me, Maxi is a good squad player. Since he didn't whine much and happily settle for his wage on bench while doing some magic coming off the bench, I would rather he stays in the team. No point selling him off when we clearly need more depth in our squad. The fact that he is versatile just add an extra point. He can play left, right , middle and as second striker. So, why not?  nod.gif
*
I dont know. When he first signed i thought he would be the solution of our left wing problem. But it worsened.

Thing is he doesnt create chances enough in any of those positions you mentioned. All of those positions require creative and flair players

who can make defence splitting passes.I am yet to see any 'magic' like you said.He took his chances when he scored the two hattrick

but that is role of a ST(kuyt, carroll). He simply goes missing when the team is not playing well. The magic that you said will have to be

coming up with something when the team is playing poorly or unable to penetrate defenses.

I heard he is on 50k a week and that is just wasting a spot for the younger players.LFC needs clear deadwood.

End of the long winded story above,i think we should trade in maxi for aguero laugh.gif

I dunno about you but I would rather taking Maxi anyday than someone who often missed a sitter, given the chance to score. At least, he grabbed the chance, no? Talking about some N'Gog, some Babel and some Robbie Keane here.  tongue.gif

Clearly, at some point of the season, around dec, quite often, we saw Maxi missing sitter but at the end of season, he had been marvelous. We need experienced player. Clubs like Juventus, Ac Milan, Roma, ManUtd are keeping their veteran players so as to allow them to coach the young one. We should do the same too.

And what makes you think that A.Madrid want to take Maxi back when they offered him to us for virtually nothing. He came in free(or close to free) if I remember clearly.  biggrin.gif
*
Talk about sitters,i hope you watched the chelsea game at stamford bridge doh.gif

Exactly my point like u said.Nobody would let quality go on a cheap.

He is past his best.Better to let the youth take over.I doubt he features in first team plan.

Btw,the maxi for aguero thing was a joke.I didnt know you took it seriously.

Ngog,Babel all had potential and scored important goals for us especially against united.

Keane was a proven scorer before he came here but i swear i dont know wad happened to him.

My guess is maxi will be gone before the start of 2012-2013 season latest.

I like your optimism mate. The only reason i want aguero is because he said he is a liverpool fan.

I admit i m believing in the 'aguero'hype.

However, realistically real madrid, man city and chelsea are above us.

BUT....If he is still a liverpool fan, then it overrides all of the above.

Thanks a lot N'Gog!

I don't understand why he is first in the list to be offloaded.

There are much more critical names poulsen, cole, jovanovich, degen and konchesky that needs clearing.

I like ngog and appreciate all he did for us. sad.gif

I think i wasnt around when he signed for us so i might have missed things.

I think its pretty clear now that we are going after premiership/british players

as confirmed by comolli in his interview and linda pizzuti's brows.gif post on her facebook page.

I still think that our biggest signing this transfer season will be a foreigner, either mata or aguero(unlikely).

I guess poulsen aqua cole will definitely be out.

That leaves gerrard, raul, leiva, jay, henderson, jonjo and soon adam.

That leaves us with 7midfielders.

I think jonjo will go on loan.

So we will probably have 6 midfielders for the season. hmm.gif

Too early to guess the formations though.

Hopefully we do a barnes for our wings.

to many cm.....wonder what formation kenny will use...
gerrard, meireles, lucas, henderson, spearing, aquilani (he still our player), & now adam?poulsen sure will be sold....huh
from above cm only lucas & spearing can do some dirty job...the other are better further up field.....
all we need is a winger...not another midfielder...huh  sad.gif

Keep faith bro.

Plz tell me one season where we were buying players 1week into the transfer season.Dont have right.

After all comolli promised there will be more signings.

If it fails to materialise then we can start with Comolli OUT agenda brows.gif

Oh please, enough of playing players out of position.

Gerrard is the best cm we have and you want us to play him on the wings.

When are we gonna actually bring in a decent winger for the right wing?

QUOTE(vreis @ Jun 14 2011, 02:38 PM)
thing is, what is Stevie best position??? CM? AM? LM/RM? RB?
you said his best position is CM, too bad RB, Eriksson, Maclaren or even Capello dont think so. Or is it he doesn't have the thrust of those coaches/managers to play in cm??? & why was that? its simple, he's prone to tactical indiscipline. Else why else all those last ditch tackles when Alonso&Hamann never need to execute once?
Or maybe you are better than all of them that u actually knew his best position is cm. I don't even think he himself knew which is his best position, only he LIKE to be cm.
*
Gerrard best position is central. It can be CM,CDM or CAM.Where did the goal against olmypiakos come from?Where did the goal against milan come from?

Where did our FA cup Final second and third goal come from?Rite.all from the center.U mentioned mclaren, eriksson and capello.

What did these guys actually win as coach of england?or at least did they play attractive football ala germany?

Dont compare england with liverpool.I dont give a thing about england. They are overrated and plain boring.

RB played gerrard in the right wing because he wanted to accomodate momo sissoko.

Forgive me for being blunt but sissoko is one of the worst players i have seen play for liverpool.

He couldnt even make a simple pass and his only attribute was tackling.

RB learnt from his mistake and moved gerrard back centrally after that.

Anywhere central as long it is not on the flanks. icon_rolleyes.gif

Any title winning team has pacy wingers who are tricky and nimble like robben, messi, old joe cole, ribery, barnes, figo, ronaldinho.Gerrard physique doesnt suit that.

You will have one quite long list then.

So you think sissoko was good? Mascherano had sissoko's tackling abilities and work rate but with a much better passing range.

Makes it sound like i have to rate every player only good or bad.
But he's definately not one of the worst.
*
I m not trying to rate the players la.Just had to use him in my argument.

It was very frustrating to watch him play.I still remember against barca he missed an open goal.

Sure he did put in dominating performances in the midfield but it did not justify moving gerrard to the right.

Gerrard was at his peak that time and one of the best in the world.I didnt like seeing him on the wing

because he could do a better job in the centre.I am not a rafa hater but i didnt agree with him on this issue.

Now seeing somebody suggest this has got me worked up all over again. sad.gif

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Jun 14 2011, 03:13 PM)
Sissoko was limited to say the least but I do admire his tenacity and work rate. The thing is, Liverpool fans appreciate hard work over ability and rightly so if you ask me. I posted yesterday, that since the days of Shankly, we've always considered a player's attitude. If the likes of Momo, Biscan or Meijer signed for any other club, they would have been chastised and forgotten. At Liverpool, they are cult heroes and we remember them fondly. You can buy talent but you can't buy attitude.
*
Shankly bought players with talent and attitude.until before recently our players have only either one.

Torres had talent but attitude was poor, kuyt has a fantastic attitude but limited on the talent front.

But i m not worried now.Suarez has both.I trust kenny like i have always said and i wont question the king.

U said it urself that he excelled as CAM, why? cos there's no defensive responsibilites compare to cm.
If he is able to time his tackle well enough, there is not even a need for last ditch tackle. Both Alonso & Hamann are not great tackler, rather they anticipate.
I'm not saying he cant be a cm, just that its not as clear cut as ppl think that his best position is cm.
No matter where he plays, most important thing is the balance of the team.
*
Gerrard could play CM if he has a defensive partner. The reason for his tactical indiscipline is because our attack wasnt good enough.

That often leaves him up supporting the strikers.Alonso was a deep lying playmaker.Gerrard too can play that role.

We did see him play this role effectively against MU at anfield this season. smile.gif

Manchester united fans trying to get tickets for the liverpool match is getting me worked up. mad.gif

I dont think we did that during their team tour.

It's denying our own fans who are desperate to see the team.
