I have tried using wireless repeater bridge to link up HyppTV but found that such a set up is unable to handle the required bandwidth (got only ~6 Mbps throughput). So I set up a pair of Aztech homeplugs instead. Works great!

Yes,and I think it will depend on the model of the wireless repeater,my wireless repeater will hang after long hour of use therefore using home plug or long LAN cable is more feasible.

hi i got a question about the home plug.
like most of you all, im placing my modem and router in the living hall while i wanted to watch hypptv in my upstair room. so i amlooking for aztech homeplug to use it. my question is:

1. will the home plug work if i plug it on the extension plug?
Yes,it will work. But do use a high quality and new extension plug.
2. does the 3 phase electrical system which is common is most household now will cause a problem? or must i conenct them within the same phase of electrical system?

please enlighten me!
*
If your house is using 3 phase electrical system, should be any problem.

Router end: -- H X X X
TV end: -- H X X X

nope...1 hypptv...dont now how to split hyptv... blush.gif
xtension plug...
*
you can split hpptv in case you have more than one STB as long the source port is VLAN ID 600.

Example DIR-615 port no. 4 <---> 4 ports switch <----> STB 1@port 1 and STB 2@port 2.you can watch simultaneously.but if you subscribed for premium channels, only your default STB can watch that channels.

in that case i assume the 4-port switch will not be able to share internet connection?
*

correct, that 4 ports switch will not be able to share the internet, coz all are tagged with VLAN600

Meaning STB1 you can watch channel 101 and STB2 you can watch channel 102 at the same time?
*
you can watch all the free channels simultaneously except paid channels.

Sorry, this might be a noob question, but what is a 4 port switch and where can we buy it? or can I use my default d-link as a 4 port switch? I'm using Asus RT-N13 as my main router now.
*
4 port switch is just a normal network switches, yup u can use your dlink as normal switch.just disable the dhcp function on your dlink.

but you only can use port 1 to 3 only if you're using factory firmware.
