Onli hope my IAFM not kacau...so many years of experience liao & Proton shld hv overcome that "simple" prob, rite?

Ok...me also reporting in...!! rclxms.gif

Post 2009 models should not have the IAFM problem already. Mine's March 2009, so there is a chance that parts from the 2008 parts bin were used, and hence the failure.

Hmm, I did read somewhere, to prevent the IAFM from spoiling, the engine should not be revved more than 4500rpm. I was like blink.gif doh.gif

Eric, congratz on fixing your problems!!  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

All engine oils are can be used on our cars as long as they meet the correct viscosity ratings. The only issue is that some BLM members have complained of loud tappet noise after using fully synthetic oil. Personally, I just started using fully synthetic on my 10000km service. I don't know what a tappet noise is, but I'll be looking out for any abnormal noises.
*
Here's an example of the said tappet noise. Something like diesel engine. lol

Now that mine's fixed, it sound like new. brows.gif

Hmm, the first batch was well known with rust around the drive shaft, but reaching the stage where it detaches? First time I've heard of this.

Is the rust caused by the air cond water hose being too short? blink.gif I read about that somewhere some time ago.

Gear spring fixed under warranty? Great, I'm gonna get mine fixed too. Hopefully they can raise the accelerator pedal too brows.gif

Ahh, that.

Gear spring + IAFM under warranty. Dont delay yo
