Erm... But quite waste fibre. Need pull 2 fibre but the speed can actually be attained on a single fibre. haha...

Ok... Simple question

IF... My condo unit is CONDENSED by wifi network and IF channels are almost full and CHANGING CHANNEL sometimes just don't work, getting TP-LINK TL-WR841ND will solve the problem??? Just a condo, need not it to send signal to a big range but I need power high enough to prevent those interference. Anyone, can give me answer? xD

hi guys. i've got unifi installed at home on 2nd july. however i got the black tm router, performance is so-so. i'm thinking of upgrading to gigabit wireless router. i have 2 models in mind, d-link dir-655 and tp-link tl-wr1043nd. are these compatible with unifi and is there any firmware flashing required?
*
1043 is nice. Flash it with DD-WRT and set it up for unifi but that will make you lose IPTV function. You can also make DIR-615 as bridge then 1043 as AP. Visit athena/klseet site for this.

urm, i still wanna keep the iptv thingy. but my router is not dir-615 though, it's the one in glossy black with tm logo.
*
Not sure then.

QUOTE(gahkin @ Jul 24 2011, 11:23 PM)
I just sell my 1043nd to get 8960nd with running together to 8 port gigabit switch. Now all run great performance as I wish too. I also don't want to lose my iptv too that why I not flash to dd-wrt then just let it go.
*
Erm... But if ur flash with dd-wrt. In the coming time when quota is implemented, you can monitor your usage easily. I don't know whether tp-link stock firmware have such feature though.

Wifi. I'm connected wirelessly as the router is in the hall and my laptop is in my room. No issues with the speed anyway. It's just the spikes

Did your connection get better after a few days when it "stabilizes"?

By the way this TM N-router is giving me crap signals. And I don't live in a huge condo.... sheesh
*
The signal should be ok if there's no other wifi network around but CONDO... My laptop can get 10+ wifi network anytime. Interference then causes tonnes of problem.

Not as I know of .....
Walau, how to explain this, I'm not expert in this, just try my luck to explain .... sweat.gif
UniFi uses the following vlans so can deliver these services through a single fibre line:
vlan.400 = VoIP
vlan.500 = Internet
vlan.600 = IPTV

So we need to have a device which can tag/untag at port-level to enjoy those services. nod.gif
Er, what do you mean ??  blink.gif
*
Erm... Klseet. I'm thinking... After i get 841ND with custom firmware, can i actually flash dir615 with ddwrt to monitor usage? As i know ddwrt has quite nice usage monitoring feature. Can I make it as bridge or something before 841ND then monitor the usage? Just in case when quota is implemented. haha

Hi guys, I just bought TR-WL841N..I am having problems setting up the router.

After I have entered my username and pw..the system states that these setting have been saved to desktop.

Then the system continued to configure the router setting..

the system shows "TICK" for "successfully configure router"...
but when it comes to "verified router setting"...the system shows a "cross".

Can anyone plz tell me wat could be the problem with this?

Thanks in advance.smile.gif

Have you flashed it or you just buy from the shop and did nothing on it then straight key in password on factory firmware after that?

Take a look. When you buy it, you should've asked the shop fellow to flash it to UniFi Custom Firmware for you else you need to DIY.
That router, yes, it supports unifi but need to flash it with customized firmware by TP-Link itself. What is firmware, if you asked. It's like BIOS in your PC. Assume if you don't know what is BIOS, just take it as the Operating system of your computer (Windows Vista/XP/7). The normal installaed OS(operating system) won't allow the router to connect to UniFi. The OS need to be modified by someone(don't care who he/she is) in order to make you be able to connect to UniFi. But in the case, you need to get that Custom Firmware for your router (I only take operating system as example. Doesn't mean you need to change your operating system), flash it (install it) and then only you can connect to UniFi. Now... Get it??

This mean STOCK FIRMWARE doesn't support UniFi. icon_idea.gif

is this same with all user or just me ( becoz that day those ppl come install macam so rush like that cincai do )
*
... The phone is now running on VoIP. Voice over Internet Protocol. It needs the BTU/VDSL modem to be ON in order to function. Not like ordinary phone. You can off the router(dir615/tm RND/other router) no prob.

QUOTE(nonameNo @ Aug 2 2011, 08:30 PM)
thanks for the info. i going to buy it tomorrow at digitalmall, section 14 PJ.

anyway, have one question. since the homeplug using wall wiring as a data transmission, wouldn't the neighbour be able to tap into our line (by using another homeplug) since all electric wiring connecting to one another housing (from main source)?

my house - whole row using same electricity cable (main) connecting to one house after another. e.g. house 1 getting from main source electricity pole, then it flow to whole row of the houses. just that it split the connection to each individual house like splitter. if one house power trip, the rest still got electricity. if main source trip, whole taman no electricity.

so is it safe to use homeplug?
*
Homeplug is not actually that "unsafe". Unless your neighbour steal electricity from your house else it won't happen( what i mean steal is that kacau kacau ur cabling and connect to their house then they use it but you got charge~". It depends on whether your house is single phase or three phase supply. If single phase, cincai connect also can. If three phase supply, u need to know which and which wall socket is on the same phase in order for them to be connected. Each house on a transmission line is actually separated from each other but they're under one big system (like the main of your street or your taman). One big system down, all down. But one small system(your house) down, other house still on. Parallel connected.

RT-N13U-B1

Latest custom firmware RT-N13U.RB_7.28.2.3 is available:
http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=74&Itemid=70
same like the above RT-N56U, with pre-built localised ISP (UniFi-Home & Business) selection, also include "Others" for user-definable vlan tagging !

Please take note with this latest firmware for both N13 & N56, the WAN setup screen has changed to :
http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=77&Itemid=76
Please ensure you select the correct localised ISP (at the bottom), the STB (for Home-UniFi only) is connected through Port1.

I've also tested two 2.5" USB2 ext HDD (NTFS & ext3) with Download Master without problem:
N13 (need to download the custom Utility):
http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=80&Itemid=73
N56 (current standard from ASUS official site will do):
http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=85&Itemid=80

Enjoy !  laugh.gif

Some typo.

Sorry noob question, UNIFI internet is ADSL or Cable?

Recently I got problem with the phone line, thinking of cancelling my phone line and might be getting non-ADSL internet, wireless internet is a no no for gaming.

I understand that UNIFI comes with phone service, but is it possible to use the internet while the phone line is not working?
*
UniFi is not ADSL nor Cable. it's FTTH/FTTB and VDSL after FTTB.
Streamyx case, phoneline down, internet down
Unifi case, internet down, phoneline down but sometimes phone line up, internet down. hahaha...

Thanks, so internet is not dependent on phone line then.

Next question is bandwidth cap, the 60 GB per month, is that for solely for internet or including IPTV video as well? or should I say does watching the provided IPTV eats up your monthly bandwidth quota?
*
IPTV has separate bandwidth from internet. Use as you like. You can now even stream youtube on iptv. 60GB cap is just internet alone but it's not implemented yet. No worries.
