congrates bro for the update...any review of your sportage u want to share here??
*
so far drive is pretty firm. Like most owners here mention before, remember to bring down the tyre pressure to abt 34-35psi. Otherwise ride will be bumpy... Other than that, trying hard to put in more mileage, so can do first service and get over the break-in period... At the moment, dun dare to tekan too much tongue.gif oh ya, and abt the start/stop button, was advice to press, once, twice and third time only start engine with brakes press...

did any owners here do autofoam on the their sportage? i think it will definitely improve the ride...

Hi Bro,

Can advise the reason for doing the 3 steps engine starts procedures?

Thanks!!!
*
Just like starting the engine using a normal key, its just that I usually wait for all the red indicators to go off, then only I start the engine. Same reason for doing the 3 steps procedure for the sportage.

I drove the Vellfire last time, and this is how I did it to start the engine. once, twice and then third time only press the brake and start the engine... Not a big deal, just a safe practice...

got my K&N filter yesterday. Will try to install it this weekend. hopefully the performance will improve...

Also started on the rear lights modifications. it was a pain to source for the right materials and parts. had to compromise with what i could find in the hardware store. will post up some pictures when i get it working, or if i could get it working... tongue.gif

did my first service yesterday. i notice FC has improve. previously on the first quarter tank, i get less than 100km, now on the first quarter tank, i go up to abt 115km. this is mostly city driving...

i bought the filter at RM238. I used the K&N filter on my old vios last time. transmission change is definitely smoother. FC doesn't improve too significantly.

the light modification is quite tedious. u need to have the right tools to do the work. drilling the hole itself requires patience so u dun overdrill. the reflector is just right behind the plastic. if u use too much force, u can overdrill and damage the reflector

from the picture no. 2, it seems that there is a cut line between the plastic reflector piece and the red plastic holder. dun think its advisable to cut and separate it because in the long run, water might seep into the rear light, and u get the water wave inside the lamp. at the moment i think its permanently sealed. that's what i observe from the picture...

anyways, hopefully i can finish up this weekend...

wow, good job, but do u think its too bright at one side rather lit up equally?
*
The difference in intensity is due to the camera angle when taking the picture, and one part of the reflector tapers off narrower compared to the other end. So it seems that one side is brighter than the other end. But if u were to see it in person from a car moving directly behind, u would see it as equally lited. U cannot tell the difference.

does any existing owners here experience the air conditioning system becomes "uncold" when the car runs slow? when i drive on hwy at about 120kmph, the air cond is cold even when i set to 23 degrees and the fan speed is set at 1, but when i drive in the city at about 50 - 70kmph, the air cond doesn't blow cool air even if i set it to 20 degrees, as i usually dun set any lower than this and the fan speed i usually set at 1, or at most, speed at 3. when car is idling, the same thing happens, very little cold air blows out. please advise if anyone has this experience...

i have the same prob...our air cond fan may got 3 stage...off/slow/fast...if you start the car and turn to 23 degrees the air cond wont cold at all untill u move ur car and drive fast...alternative you turn to 20 below when idle the air cond fan speed turn "fast" and air cond is cool as usual...when in traffic jam or long travel the problem is same..

Any of you guys can confirm that our fog lamp is using 881 bulb (same as Forte)?
Thinking of changing the foglight to HID but not many accessory shops sell 881 kit.

I know the headlamp and hi-beam are using H7 coz I just changed this weekend
*
Can I know what brand of bulbs you bought to replace the OEM headlamp and hi-beam bulbs and how much?

Thanks...

QUOTE(widget @ May 8 2012, 06:07 PM)

Sorry for the late reply...
For the OEM headlamp, I changed to Philips Extreme Vision and hi-beam I used Philips Diamond Vision.
Both cost ard RM230-250/pair from any car acessory shop...
As both are H7 bulb, you can always swap them to your preference
cool. but i heard both of these models dont have long burning hours. most ppl i know who have them mention they lasted only abt 12 months. keep us posted ya...

QUOTE(Don Quixote @ Jul 30 2012, 07:24 PM)
May I ask where you service your car?

I want to send my car there too.

I have just sent my car for 30k service and to check on the aircond problem in Chan Sow lin but they said there is no problem though they took the car for a spin. They refilled the refrigerant only. I have been experiencing this problem for months now and I tahan till it is time for 30k service. Then as I drove home at about 4.46pm I reached Connaught and the cold air went off as I slowed down due to slower traffic. Then as I pick up speed after passing Connaught, the cold air came back just before I reach the Batu 9 toll plaza of Jalan Cheras at 4.51pm.

I told Chan Sow Lin I have been experiencing the above problem for months tak kan I am wrong. Even my kids complain every time the cold air stops. They asked me a whole lot of questions if I use auto. I told them auto is too noisy and too cold for me. I prefer to manually adjust the aircond. So finally they said they will change the whole aircond panel if I experience it again. I am to call them. So they took photographs.

If it is only the expansion valve then will changing the aircond panel solve the problem?

THen Chan Sow Lin said that they have never experienced this problem. This is the first time they have heard of this problem.

I just wish to inform fellow Sportage owners that I have just changed my steering wheel due to peeling as I park my car under the sun when I am at work. So now, I use a sunscreen. I hope it helps. I waited a long long time. But at least they did change it. So they are trustworthy lah.

Added on July 30, 2012, 7:25 pmTwo more problems I am experiencing with my 3rd generation Kia Sportage.

2. Water vapour collects in the left rear light.

3. Screeching braking sound ... it has always been there and could not be solved.

Anybody experiencing the above two problems?
*
hello don,

its been 3 months now since i changed the expansion valve, but the problem seems to be returning as i can feel the A/C air very slowly becoming a bit warm at instant where the car is left idle for more than 5 minutes. most of the time, i set the temp to 23 C, and its cold. Nowadays, when the temp is set at 23 C and left to idle for a while, can feel the warm air very slowly coming back, though still bearable...

the other obvious problem i face is the loud screeching sound on the brakes during braking. not sure what caused it. will report this to the service center during my next service...
