Hello guys! Just got my sportage 2wd mineral silver here in Kota Bharu. Because of the logon problem i miss the offer by ks loh. Damn good offer it was too for the awd version. Well, not my luck though hahaha.

So far the ride is smooth and nvh is top notch. Fuel consumption too early to tell because still in the break in period. But if looking at my brother's Kia forte it would be acceptable enough. The build quality more than offset the fuel issue.

Anyhow, should i get a steering or pedal lock for more security? What brand is recommended?

Thank you!

Thanks for the kind words. Enjoy your new ride. Pedal lock, albeit more expensive is the better choice. But I am not sure if you can find one that is specifically designed for Sportage. The brand is not so important as long as it has the double locking feature. Most commonly known brands in the market are Locktech, Genie & Defender.

The problem with steering lock is that it is not so convenient and always pose the storage issue, as it always take up the leg space of the passengers when not in use.

Another setback is that it can potentially damage the fine leather on your steering wheel, if you are not careful.

Ahh thanks. Still enjoying the ride currently. And seeing Kota Bharu now is raining, the quiet cabin, engine, smooth gear change and good breaking is really appreciated. So far no regrets buying the car.

Hi guys,

Thinking of buying an used Kia Sportage 2.0 AT 1st Generation 4x4 for some minor off road during weekends. Minor ones.

What should I be on the look-out when I scout for one. What are those common problems/issues with the car? Is maintenance costly and parts still available?

Thanks for the info.

1st Generation? What year make is that? Maybe you meant the 2nd generation from year 2005 onwards. First generation came in as early as year 1999 if I am not mistaken.

Yeah.. 1st generation is from year 1997 to 2003. I think the model share the platform with Mazda Bongo.... Anyone owners still kept the old horse running?

Hi all Kia Sportagean , wonder why the new Kia Sportage 2wd so rare and hardly seen on the road. The price is competitive and very close to Hr-V.

Not easy to find such a new 2014 USED Kia Sportage in the open market. But if you do, I think it is good value to get at around 90K.

I have got a 2014 brand new unregistered Sportage SL . Specs wise, it is completely the same as year make 2015, are you interested? The price however is in the 120K range though...

Recently bought a second hand 2012 Sportage. Any of you encounter air cond blowing hot air when stalled in traffic? Sometimes even cruising. Happens intermittently

Look like the air con was not working properly. Since u bought a 2nd hand it is also advisable to bring your car to Kia SC for a total service. By the way, u may also check whether the 5 years warranty that came with the car is still valid. It should be valid unless the the previous owner did not service the car according to Kia service schedule or at Kia Service center.

Just to share the anticipated price increase for KIA models effective 1st Jan 2016. Price increase is quite consistent with that announced by other auto makers as well, no thanks to depreciation of our national currency.

High fuel consumption and high maintenance cost. Common problems are car antenna not functioning. Heard from my friends that their Sportage had gearbox problem but mine did not have any problem.

Sounds like a good price provided the mileage is indeed 50K. You should also check which SL version , whether it is the first generation or the second one. The difference is clearly shown in the front fog lamp...one is a small diamond shape , the other is a bigger elongated version.
