Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of getting a 2009 novus for my wife coz it's such a bargain at around 35-38k... we usually expect to keep a car for a long time as long as no problem... question - 2009 model still easy to repair/find spare parts or not... & anything to look out for in terms of common breakdown when we view the used cars?

Thanks all!

I am using one Sportage 2005 myself, so far haven't had any major problem except maybe the FC is a little on the high side since it is an SUV. Really appreciate its versatility and space. Once the rear seats are folded, can almost put anything inside, from IKEA Furniture to my bicycle.

Haha since you are seller, what do you think of the 2008/9 batch if I buy & keep for usage for 5-8 years... still able to get parts/maintain by then?

Should not be a problem on parts. If you think the price is right, just go for it.

Kia cars ranked Top 3 in 2015 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study!

We are thrilled to announce that Kia Motors ranked second among 33 automotive brands in J.D. Power’s 2015 Initial Quality Study (IQS). Only Porsche, a premium brand, outranked Kia, meaning that Kia is now ranked #1 among mass market brands.

Now in its 29th year, the annual J.D. Power IQS measures the quality of vehicles based on the number of problems reported by vehicle owners within the first 90 days. This is by far the finest performance Kia has achieved in this study to date. Honored were the Kia Soul and Sorento, which received the highest scores in the compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and midsize SUV segments, while the Rio, Optima, Cadenza, Sportage and Sedona (Grand Carnival) ranked among the top three in their respective categories.

“We believe the J.D. Power report leaves no doubt that Kia builds world-class vehicles, and the results are especially gratifying as the IQS study truly reflects the voice of our customers,” said Michael Sprague, Chief Operating Officer and EVP, Kia Motors America. “Kia’s rise is one of the industry’s greatest success stories and is driven by the hard work of thousands of team members around the world, as well as our long-term strategy to concentrate on quality, strengthen the brand and elevate the ownership experience.”

See the chart below for the full J.D. Power 2015 IQS rankings.

I just test drive 2009 Sportage, i can feel there is not smooth when i losen my leg on the oil control pad. What is the reason? According to the 2nd hand sell person, it might be due to CVT transmission oil need to change only. Is it true? Or is the gear box having problem and need to replace. The mileage of the car is just done 60K
Please advice before i buy it smile.gif smile.gif

For one, Sportage transmission is not CVT. I own one unit Sportage 2005. I am not sure what you mean by something not smooth. What I can tell is that the driving feel of Sportage 2nd generation is not like a sedan, yes, you tend to feel more vibration, which is normal for this SUV, it is not as refine as the latest model if that 's what you are asking. Hope that helps.

Less than 1 year old Sportage, quite unlikely because logically speaking, why would anyone buy a brand new car and want to dispose it off within 1 year. Although there are such cases, they are very very rare and reasons being owner migrating overseas, financial problem or the car itself developed problems that the owner does not want to keep anymore.

Suggest that you seach some used-car sales websites as they are Sportage of year 2011 - 2013 in the market that are still of good value.

5 Year warranty is transferrable if the first owner services his car according to the servicing schedule and plan by Naza Kia . You can obtain such service information from the service book.

Cheers.

For any test drive units, normally KIA outlets don't sell them until the model is already discontinued.
Perhaps, you can request for service book record and make an enquiry with the SC that the car was previously sent to. You can then check on its history of any repairs or warranty claim. That would certainly give you a good idea of the car condition. Don't forget to also do a test drive , if the outlet permits you. Cheers.

So, can anyone who recently bought the facelifted Sportage confirm the following for me please?

- Wing mirrors do not automatically fold when you lock and unlock the car
- New HU unit has no RDS - i.e. Does not display radio station name, only the frequency
- Cargo area cover bar rattles when not in use.

Thanks.

Some user review (in their own words) as follows :

" Great consumption not to worry average 8-9lt/km

Mine fuel consumption is 11L / 100km

Ron 95 full tank RM90 consumption 420km mileage minimum

City drive up to 12l/km, smooth highway can go as low as 8-9l/km normal drive la.

If I drive like a grandma then only about 7litres per 100km. But I can't help it to speed and push it hard so usually about 12.1l/100km. For long distance fuel consumption gets better about 7-8l/100km "

Ultimately. FC depends on road conditions and driving traits. Hope my input helps. Cheers.

1) No, Sportage is NOT equipped with auto folding side mirrors during locking/unlocking. You need to press the button beside the driver door panel to fold or unfold.

2) HU is not equipped with RDS

3) The boot cover should not rattle, maybe it is not placed properly, you may have it checked at the SC.

Thank you very much.

I know RDS is a very minor thing, but is there an option to get one factory fitted with it. Not even sure what use the Infinity on the present one is. Digital radio?
