Had the same issue, try the entire process again but before clicking on the absinthe logo, enable VPN under Settings -> General. Also remember to have passcode lock disabled. Worked for me.

i think the passcode n vpn is off by default right

i nver usee both of it..
will try again
last time i try the vpn..nothin happen

I faced error "the procedure entry point xmltextreaderconstname could not be located in the dynamic link library libxml2.dll". Tried the solution of copy libxml2.dll into mobile device folder, however there error still appear.

I am running on window vista.

Fyi,the absinthe doesnt work on vista or win7 64bit..i manage to jb my ipad2 via xp..

no wonder gonna try it again..lucky i still got windows xp

To those who are having problem, please do a clean restore from ipsw and try JB again.

Jailbreaked my iPad 2 last night with the Absinthe GUI, everything went smooth without restoring FW and turning ON the VPN. My iPad 2 free at last, now installing the tweaks such as remove background, switchermod, sbsettings, retinapad, winterboard, bt stack.......lots

Hi there im just a newbie. My ipad aged for 3 months only..

I never experience how to JB b4.. So i hope u guys can help me to answer my question.


1) After we jailbreak, is it possible to return back to our apple original firmware (coz we use untethered JB)? So that we still can claim our warranty at apple store without they knowing we've been JB B4. If possible how ?( please guide me step by step coz i really dunno)

2) Why people really eager to do JB?? Is it we can get free application in apple store????

3) Why so many people got many problem when they try 2 JB their ipad?? Is it bcoz the JB still not stable yet?

4) Any tips to get successful JB?? Please share for those guys who successfully JB their IPAD 2...

Doing fine with absinthe on win7 64bit

This is my suggestion.

1. Restore your iPad 2 (I hope you have an iPad 2 cause Absinthe only works with iPad 2, if you're on an iPad 1 then don't use Absinthe, use redsn0w)
2. Make sure you download the latest version of Absinthe
3. Run Absinthe (in my case, there was no need to do anything -- VPN etc etc ... not needed)
4. Once it says to run Absinthe in the iPad 2, just slide to unlock and find Absinthe and run it in the iPad 2

You should have a jailbroken iPad 2

how long usually it will take in the screen "Absinthe is now setting things up" ?
it has been 10mins and is still showing the same screen...

Someone has mentioned that it took him 30 minutes due to the fact that his backup was huge. One of the reason why people are recommending for us to Backup the iPad 2 prior to jailbreaking, restoring it to factory fresh and setting it up as a new iPad 2 and then jailbreaking and once the jailbreak is successful (which shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes), restoring the old backup.

Added on January 23, 2012, 1:20 pm1. Yes, just download the Apple firmware and do a Shift + Restore and your iPad will be restored to factory settings and your Warranty will also be "Restored"

2. A lot of tweaks that Apple disapprove of such as customisations of our themes etc etc. We don't condone piracy and some of the tweaks in Cydia are paid applications so you pay similar to the App Store.

3. The server maybe overloaded and jailbreaking is easy but not simple, there's a lot of coding and things happens.

4. Tips, as I mentioned above, What I did was to backup my iPad 2, restore it to factory fresh condition, set it up as a new iPad (don't restore the backup yet), run Absinthe to jailbreak and once the jailbreak is successful, restore back my Backup.
