iPad 2 wifi does not have baseband. Baseband are for the iDevices that connects to cellular signals.

If you get an iPad that is not on 4.3.3, there is no way to downgrade. Upgrade to 5.0.1 and wait for the untether from pod2g. He is working on it.

Same thing is happening in the iPhone JB thread. Feels really frustrated because these people are the one that gives us jailbreakers a bad name

QUOTE(quintesson @ Jan 2 2012, 12:50 PM) I bought a 2nd hand ipad 1 with some original apps purchased from the previous owner. Question is if i sync / backup with my id then only update to 5.0.1 to jb from 4.3.3 will the apps still available or will itunes delete it because it was purchased with a different id? How to transfer the apps to my id? Thanks I don't believe you will be able to do that. The syncing depends on your Apple ID. |

QUOTE(ubeyou @ Jan 2 2012, 10:30 PM) should i upgrade to 5.0.1 (using jailbroken 4.3.3) because i worried apple might stop signing 5.0.1 and the new jailbreak will only support 5.0.1 You can still save the 5.0.1 SHSH using the latest tinyUmbrella without the need to upgrade to 5.0.1. Do it now before Apple stops signing 5.0.1 |

Will upgrade the wife's iPad 2 tonight. She is on 4.3.3 but does not use the JB (other than MultiGesture) so should be a safe upgrade.

Apple server is overloaded. Damn slow downloading the 5.0.1 IPSW.
Added on January 4, 2012, 11:35 pm QUOTE(Tainted @ Jan 4 2012, 06:11 PM) This is taken from Apple Support SiteError 18 (or -18): This occurs when the media library on the device is corrupt and cannot be modified or updated. QUOTE(shawn87 @ Jan 6 2012, 03:28 PM) During downgrading I encounter this error 9 You need to create a custom firmware using TinyCFW method which will allow you to get out of the recovery. The problem you are having is because it's checking the baseband and it sees that the baseband is higher that what the 4.3.3 baseband is supposed to be. I'm using iPad 2 3G n everything goes fine until last process " restoring iPad firmware" then this error 9 pop up.. Googled n they said is USB problem.. I try different USB n different computer the problem still there.. Anyone can help me? *ios 5 to 4.3.3n I have the shsh blobs saved Below is the info from the TU Blog QUOTE TinyCFW: Create a custom IPSW for iPad2 and iPhone4 TinyCFW is a simple tool I put together for a friend of mine. He has an iPad2 GSM and has his 4.3.3 SHSH but since Apple is no longer signing 4.3.3, it isn't possible to downgrade to 4.3.3 without getting stuck in a 1015 recovery loop. What TinyCFW is: It will modify an existing ipsw for an ipad2 gsm/cdma or iphone4 gsm/cdma It WILL modify the ipsw TO UPDATE YOUR BASEBAND TO THE LATEST! It will create an ipsw that you can use with TinyUmbrella AND iTunes to restore to a version of iOS that you have SHSHs for. It is primarily for iPad2 with a baseband OR iPhone 4. What TinyCFW is NOT: A jailbreak An unlock A tool to protect your baseband. A tool that will restore your device to any firmware A tool for use with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPad, or iPhone 4S The usage is simple. Start the application (double click on the jar or run the .exe file). You must have java and at least 2.5gb ram. (Yes I know. It's a lot. Get over it. I didn't write this to be massively distributed. I wrote this for a friend and am now just sharing it with everyone). Once the window comes up, click the top button and choose an ipsw for which you have SHSHs for. The app will scan it and tell you the firmware and baseband versions in the ipsw you selected and the firmware and baseband versions that will be in the target ipsw when you click the second button. If you're ready, click 'Save Target IPSW'. This will take a minute or two and when it is finished, you will have a file named: <your original ipsw name>.bbupdate.ipsw. You can use this ipsw with iTunes and TinyUmbrella to restore your iPad2 GSM/CDMA back to say 4.3.3 (if you have 4.3.3 SHSH). This is a VERY initial release. I never intended on it being a massively supported tool. It's just something I used in passing. If it helps you great! This functionality will exist in far more robust form when I finally ever release TinyPwn. Enjoy! I know one member has done it this way and he was able to downgrade successfully. This only applies for those with the 3G version. Those with Wifi Only version can downgrade without any issue if you have your 4.3.3 SHSH saved. |

Are you using the stock firmware? You can download the stock firmware from iClarified. Just Google "Where to Download iPad Firmware iClarified" and you'll get the necessary link.
You are trying to restore to the latest firmware so there shouldn't be any issue with BBFW etc. Remember to download the IPSW using firefox. Don't use safari coz it will add the .zip extension or try to unzip the file. The file should have the IPSW extension. |

QUOTE(toytoy @ Jan 8 2012, 05:13 AM) 1).Please check in TU under Advanced if Request SHSH from Cydia is checked. If not check it and save again. iFaith DOES NOT support iPad 2 as the iPad 2 is not susceptible to the limera1n exploit.2). Since your current firmware is 4.3.3, you can use iFaith to dump the 4.3.3 SHSH from ur phone. Google for iFaith and how to use it. Hope this helps. Added on January 8, 2012, 10:14 am All is not too late if your phone firmware is 4.3.3 U can dump SHSH using iFaith. But if ur firmware already over 4.3.3 then sorry Added on January 8, 2012, 12:38 pm QUOTE(eehtsitna @ Jan 8 2012, 06:59 AM) Im quite certain that i have checked request shsh from cydia but it does not work for me. Anyway im now on 5.0.1 but its working fine for me so i didnt miss 4.3.3 terribly much. Are you sure that you have the 4.3.3 SHSH saved in Cydia? When you opened Cydia before (before the upgrade to 5.0.1), do you see the top of the Cydia window the text saying that it has 4.3.3 saved for you? If it does, then you should be able to get it.Added on January 8, 2012, 12:39 pm QUOTE(shawn87 @ Jan 8 2012, 03:09 AM) thanks bro.. i owe u a dinner ;D hahaha because of ur post now i got my jailbreak.. tankius very much.. i managed to downgrade already.. That means that cydia did not save the 4.3.3 SHSH for you and there is no way to save the 4.3.3. Will just have to wait or pod2g to release the 5.0.1 jailbreak.

The dev-tem/chronic-dev works on their own timeline and they almost never tell the public when a jb is going to be released. I think pod2g made a big mistake when he mentioned 1 week (and saying it's okay to upgrade somemore on his twitter feed) and that's why a lot of people are a bit upset.

You have a choice either to believe pod2g and upgrade to 5.0.1 or trust that Apple won't release 5.1 before the jailbreak is released.
Even if you save the SHSH blobs, iOS 5.x does not work like iOS 4. Saving SHSH will not work to restore the iPad 2 to 5.0.1 (People save it just in case the dev team is able in the future to allow this process again) |

For those with 4.3.3 SHSH already saved, then their option is wider than for those on 4.3.3 but do not have SHSH (like my case). You can always downgrade back to 4.3.3 if the wait is too long. For us without the SHSH, it's really a gamble.

QUOTE(karyaw @ Jan 14 2012, 05:52 AM) iTunes cannot automatically update your firmware without your expressed permission (meaning, it cannot update unless you press the Yes button.). It will annoy you with the question everytime you plug in your iPad but it cannot update unless you agree to the question. |
