Helo! I've been playing tennis on and off but thinking of starting again since my friend is interested and we're both newbies XD;; So far I've only been rallying with the wall (sad life I know...)

I'm interested in getting a new racket since all the while I've been using one with the grip a bit too large. And since I know nuts about rackets, any sport store with the owner being able to provide recommendations?

If you're in KL, just drop by at topper sports or Ultimate Sports, they have good deals there... even in Pertama Komplex they have 1-2 shops on the first floor that gives good deals in both strings and racquets... but I regularly visit Topper Sports and Ultimate Sports instead... I even have their cards... I'll scan them and see if it'll help anyone

Well, just hoping it'll help maybe those who need to know more details..

I am using currently 3 Wilson K6.1 95.s with added +-20grammes, which totals it to about 330 grammes, the weight was added to the bottom of the handle... I have been using Ashaway Crossfire Strings pulled to 54lbs-58lbs all my life and I don't think I've transitioned very well with any other strings....

I've tried:
Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour @ 56lbs
Technifibre Red code @56lbs
Technifibre Black Code @56lbs
Luxilon BB Alu Power Rough @55lbs
Luxilon BB Original @55lbs
Dunlop Synthetic Gut @60lbs

but I've never gotten used to these polyester strings... I've been tempted to try the Wilson Pro Champion's Choice and Natural Gut.... but $$$$$$ kept me back... tongue.gif

All 3 racquets currently strung with Ashaway Crossfire 17 at 54-58lbs.

I used to use Wilson Hyper Hammer 6.5 (the one Serena Williams used to have)

and was a steady Prince Triple Threat Scream (the yellow one) for many-many years before making a switch to the Wilson K6.1 95s....

If you wanna date back during the days when I just started.... hehehehe (ahhhh... the good ol' days when I was 9 years old) it was a Rossignol (can't remember the model honestly) and Head Aluminium Racquet...

hehehe... don't ask me about the string setup for those though...

you?

I am currently using a prostaff 6.0 95 chiao ta 16x18 version, my backup is a tecnifibre tfight 320 vo2max and head microgel prestige MP. All stock frames and not leaded up.. My string setup is always full poly, Redcode is my fav string followed by other polys like volkl cyclone, pacific polyforce, prosupex's , topspin's.

Started out using crossfire 2 but now have gone for more cheaper and durable strings.

My first racket i bought was like around 5 years ago which was a 2nd hand iRadical OS .. Then about 3 years back i bought my first brand new racket the wilson Kblade MP .

After i found out about the tennis forum in sg about 2 yrs + back , i sold my Kblade and tried;
-Tecnifibre Tfight 320
- Tecnifibre Tfight 320 vo2max (still keeping)
- Youtek speed pro
- Youtek speed MP 16x18
- Babolat pure storm
- Babolat pure storm GT
- Head microgel radical MP
- Head youtek prestige MP
- Prince tour diablo MP
- Prince tt warrior MP
- volkl quantum 10 tour (still keeping)
- dunlop aerogel 200 (still keeping)
- Head microgel prestige MP (still keeping)
- Head youtek speed MP 18x20 (just bought cos it was on sale for 75 usd)

Some classic racket i am collecting (started this yr)
- Head trisys 260 bumblebee radical (made in austria)
- Prostaff 6.0 85 st vincent
- Head competition 2
- Head competition 3
- Wilson jack kramer autograph
- prostaff classic 6.1 95
- prostaff 6.0 95

1. WOw... after trying all those frames, which one was the best for you? the classic 6.1 95 still? nothing beats the old pro staffs eh?

2. speaking of the classics, any luck with collecting those st. vincent 85's? hehehe.. they sell for quite a bomber price in those forums in TT.

3. I used to demo a couple of racquets before buying i.e:
- Babolat Pure Drive Standard
- Babolat Aerodrive Pro Cortex
- Head Radical Microgel
- Head Prestige Microgel
- Dunlop aerogel 200/300 and Dunlop 4G 200
- Prince O3 Shark/Blue/Tour (I nearly went for the Prince o3 Tour)
- Wilson k6.1 Tour
- Wilson Kblade Tour

but finally went for the k6.1 95. don't know why but that frame just made me hit the ball more freely

@k3vin82

I've asked that many years back before. I know the price is absurd but the proshop doesn't see the need to follow the living timezone of racquets outside. Even members aren't given any discount for these racquets. I think cause they do not plan to rotate out these backdated sticks with new ones and that's why they've stuck to the original price for that long. I was interested myself to purchase those sticks but fell short because of their quotation.

tongue.gif If I could have convinced them otherwise, those sticks would have been inside my bag already... ehehehe

Added on June 16, 2011, 6:31 pmpretty smart collection of the classics there... when are you gonna organise a 'classic racquets' matchup with those cool woodies?
