Hello guys,

Im a newbie to the job world, just noticed on my first payslip, they deducted EPF and Socso but not INCOME TAX. is this normal? this is my first job and my salary >2000MYR, and am 22 this year

Will they come after me at the end of the year to pay tax?
*
Your gross basic salary must hit RM 2800 in order to be deducted for tax under PCB.

Did they ask you to provide them with your Income Tax account number? By right, they'll perform the deduction.

Added on July 19, 2011, 10:54 amSince March 2011 until today, i still waiting for my refund...i receive a letter from LHDN stating i should check with them after 3 months if no refund made from May 2011. Need to visit them later.....
*
I'm aware of that. I'm referring to general condition. Don't count the month when you get bonus.

Ultimately, everything will come back to your annual gross and taxable income.

Anyone knows how the calculation for PCB is made or is there a scale? About 7% of my monthly salary goes into PCB, is this considered normal or high? Thanks
*
Please refer to the PCB revised in 2010:

Sports equipment and its consumable.

Sports attire are not eligible but it's very grey area such as shoes for running or jogging.

I remembered that there's a list of qualified "sports".

RPGT applies on all REAL PROPERTY including the shares in a Sdn Bhd that is deemed Real Property Company.
If you buy a property that has been owned by the vendor for more than 5 years, no RPGT need to be withheld.

Added on February 7, 2012, 2:26 pmiPad qualifies as Computer for tax relief. Confirmed by IRB officer.
But not Galaxy Tab 7.

iPad with 3G or iPad with non-3G?

This question is still a gray distinction.

I have a question regarding parent's medical bill. Have anyone submitted parent's pharmacy (like medicine purchased from Guardian/leading pharmacies) receipts for tax relief?

Anyone?

I only use receipts from hospitals including KLGH.

Thanks Traveler. Not only I heard about medical bills, but also nutritious food like bird's nest can be submitted for claims as well - basically anything related to parents. Anyone can correct me, do let me know.
*
Are you about supplement, nutritious and health products can be claimed? I thought purely medication, prescription, surgery and consultation are eligible for claim.

Just got my EA form, first time doing this, so we just use whatever its on the EA form and minus minus and submit right??

When will BE 2011 be out>?
*
EA form only shows employment related info. Other information especially for personal relieves that you intended to claim, you have to prepare your own by digging out all the receipts.

e-BE 2011 will commence by 1st March 2012 and due on 30th April 2012.

hi all,

I'm feel that the pelepasan cukai for individual is very little..it just RM 9000 which is RM 750 per month.
Some more, the housing (which not bought on year 2010) & car installment can get rebate not? These more burden for us now...
*
For property yes and you must have a valid S&P.

For car, definitely a big NO.

Can someone explain to me how does the rm6000 tax relief for EPF works?
I pay rm7500 in tax a year, do I get to deduct 15% (or whatever tax bracket i'm in) from the rm10k a year EPF that I pay?
*
All tax relieves are deducted from the gross income in order to compute for chargeable (taxable) income.

Your taxable income will determine which tax bracket you'll fall into.

Bear in mind that the RM 6k relief on the EPF is shared with life insurance too.

Max relief under that clause is still RM 6k.

EPF is limited to 3k only, then insurance 3k, so total 6k

Is this being stated somewhere officially?

Since tax is deducted automatically from my pay. Does that mean the personal relief tax deduction I have to claim from them at the end of the financial period each year? I.e. personal tax relief is 10k. Taxable income for the year is 84000, EPF/socso contribution for the year is 9417, tax paid is 6312 which is 8.46% (i assume EFP Socso contribution is not taxed). So I can claim back 8.46% of 10k which amounts to rm846.

Is this correct?
*
The monthly deducted from your pay is just an estimation.

Once you put all the figures from the EA form into the e-BE, the e-BE system will perform its calculation accordingly including the personal relieves.

At the end, if the e-BE discovered that you're overpaid. They'll send you the refund cheque.

Gross income (from all taxable sources) - eligible personal relieves = taxable income.

*Eligible personal relieves: http://www.hasil.gov.my/goindex.php?kump=5...3&unit=1&sequ=1

Taxable income will be divided into brackets: http://www.hasil.gov.my/goindex.php?kump=5...it=5000&sequ=11 to determine your overall tax needed to be paid

Then, if you have rebate, that will be deducted one too.

You can perform the manual calculation yourself. I'm not sure if it'll be matching your equations above.
