The concerts, to be held at the Bentley Music Auditorium in Wisma Bentley Music will feature Beethoven’s Overture Coriolan, Weber’s Clarinet Concerto number 1 performed by virtuoso clarinettist and BMA teacher Eugene Pook and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s final composition, Requiem in D Minor which, as well as the choir, will feature four young and upcoming vocal soloists.

WHO ARE THEY?

Man Keedal (Guitar)
…. started playing the guitar since the age of 10 years. He is well known by the name of ‘Man Kidal’ because of his unique guitar playing with his left hand. He is the founder of a famous rock band in Malaysia – ‘Lefthanded’ in 1979. He was the soul of the band as it’s name implies. In 1985, through an invitation, Man Keedal joined the band ‘Search’ and was involved in the making of their first album ‘Cinta Buatan Malaysia’.

In 1986, he re-joined his original band and has been producing many albums and concert performances all over Malaysia. The band won the best Rock Album of Music Industry Award (AIM) in 1997. Man Keedal made his solo album ‘Rockestra’ in 2008 and received rave reviews. In his music career, he shared the stage with many artistes - both local and international, has been invited as guest judge in numerous talent shows and has help produced many albums of who’s who in Malaysia.

Zailan Razak (Bass)
…. has spent 17 years of his adult life living in the USA, both working and studying for his Bachelors and Masters Degree. Zailan has gained ample of experiences in both studio and live performances in modern music and jazz music. Not only did he work with Sister Sledge, Dennis Rowland, Marion Meadows, Khani Cole, Nelson Rangel and many local artists in Phoenix, Arizona. He had the opportunity to share stages with big names in Jazz – Grover Washington Jr., Hiroshima, Rippingtons, Spyro Gyra, Tower Of Power, just to name a few.

He is currently working as a Free Lance Lecturer at UiTM, ASWARA & Twintech College University of Technology. Zailan is very active in the Malaysian music industry, as a session bass player and as musical director for Ruth Sahanaya from Indonesia, various Malaysia artists and his own group ZRP. He is also one of the producers in Dayang Nurfaizah’s album Kasih.

Dia Fadila (Vocal)
…. graduated from UiTM, Shah Alam with a Bachelor of Music Performance (Hons). She started singing in front of public when she was 10 and sang a Japanese song called Hanakage. Since then she has been taking part in singing competition and her biggest break through was when she was 1st runner-up in 1999 Golden Teen Search (RTM) at a tender age of 15. After the competition, Warner Music signed her up. In 2005, Dia Fadila won the ‘Best New Female Artist’ in Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM) held in Singapore. She did Malaysia proud by winning the ‘Gold Medal’ for the Pop category and ‘Silver Medal’ for folk/traditional category in ASEAN Golden Melodies Festival in Vietnam, 2009.

A classically trained singer, and now a vocal lecturer in National Arts Culture and Heritage Academy, has made Pop, R&B/Jazz genres as her repertoire along with her powerful voice and an outstanding stage performance. She embodies a new breed of modern vocalist as she can sing in several other languages like French, German, Spanish, Cantonese and not forgetting Japanese. Her style, heartfelt and true with her passion all genre of music is the trademarks of Dia’s live show along with the way she blends her expressive music with an admirable technical proficiency and vocal range.

Tom Anuar (Drums)
….. was influenced by the music of Led Zeppelin & Deep Purple. Upon listening to various type of music, he then taught himself to play the drums.

In 1975, Tom along with five other members formed a group called Headwind. He then left the band & joined The Revolvers. When Tom joined The Revolvers in 1978, he started playing Latin, Jazz, Fusion, R&B, & Ballads, their ‘Namun Ku Punya Hati’ hit No. 1 on the charts for ten straight weeks. In 1984, Tom again formed a group of five members called Tropics. They performed in clubs & festivals all over Europe. Since his return to Malaysia in 1986, Tom has achieved a reputation as one of the country’s leading session drummers. He performs live as well as on recordings, for almost all of Malaysia’s top recording artistes.

Loke U (Keyboard)
….. Faizal Uzir, also known as the Lok U, is a music graduate from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) with a Bachelor of Music degree. He was the music director, pianist and also the composer of the PETRONAS Performing Arts group from 1999 to 2006.

He is also currently a part-time lecturer in Modern piano, Modern Harmony, Orchrestra, and the Big Band at the Academy of Arts Heritage (ASWARA), Universiti Malaya and UiTM Shah Alam. Besides composing music for local artists, he is also the producer of music reality TV ‘Mentor’ for two consecutive years and Jomheboh concerts in 2001 and 2002 with TV3. He was nominated for in the ‘Best Composer’ in the musical drama category in Cameronian Arts Awards 2003.

Anthony Chow (Audio Engineer)
….. has been an Audio Engineer in the Malaysian music industry for the past 25 years. He received technical training as a member of his High School Audio Society and has worked in most of the major clubs and halls in the country.

During the course of his career, he has covered a wide range of international and local acts – Dave Koz, Tiffany, Ruth Suhanaya, Yellow Jackets, AL Dimeola, Abdullah Ibrahim, Taiwan Superstar Concert, Buddy Guy …. the list goes on. His other achievement also includes being consultant for audio tunnel at Aquaria KLCC and R&D for Phsycoaccoustic System installed at Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka KL. Currently he is the Creative Director/Audio Engineer with Tres Seven Edit Studios.

Potentially, this Music Clinique provides the participants with knowledge to polish their ensemble and individual performance skills, develop new techniques, gain experience in a group setting and meeting like-minded individuals through a variety of music-related topics and techniques. We believe that learning from the industry professional will bring real musical experience to our youth. Ultimately, grooming and establishing a pool of talents, thus elevating the performance level of the local music industry.

The time has come for HANDS 2 to come out on their own! Formed in 2005, the six members themselves have graduated from their respective colleges this year, and are free to hone in their creative skills - not only in drumming! What props to use in this new concert? Designing the set, their costumes – all that is needed in putting up a new concert. It is an exciting time for the HANDS 2!

Four new pieces will be showcased including ...one by guest choreographer, Judimar Hernandez. Therefore, there will be dance, movement… and it will not just be a drumming concert.

Always mindful of our wonderful multi-cultural Malaysian heritage, there will be Gamelan; a new twist to a traditional Chinese (Hokkien) tune; as well as a piece led by Jimmy Ch’ng, one of the original members of HANDS. Friends who are joining in include Susan Sarah John, Aluba Khan and more – come for the concert and be enthralled!

Guest Artist and Choreographer:
Susan Sarah John, Judimar Hernandez, Aluba Khan, Jimmy Ch’ng, Cross Chin, Thong .
Featuring: Hands Percussion Second Team
