What's up with all the ancient talking here? Maybe for some who wants the latest and greatest, this phone, naah, all Symbian Nokia phones aint gonna cut it. But for me myself, I'm contented with what my N8 is offering. For now. Heck, all my gadgets currently is quite ancient, a Sony Clie' powered by Palm OS, Nokia N810 running Maemo 4, which I do admit is very outdated and already End Of Life.
Still, it didn't hamper its usage at all. Nope still working to my taste all these years. I still can read ebooks on my Clie, I still can browse on my N810. Performance aside, it still offer the same set of functionality as in the day I started using it. One man's meat is another man's poison. Just remember that ps: I never said its wrong to have the latest and greatest. Its all up to you.... |

Zero_kbom, just ignore comments from those who say the N8 is using ancient technology. It is their opinion and they are entitled to it. Anyways, in this modern era, the average life span of most electronics ie. handphones, computers, TVs etc. is about 1 year since most companies will usually introduce replacement models in a span of 1 year +/-. So can we say gadgets that are replaced by newer models, which can be considered as obsolete, are ancient? Even though the N8's OS running on Symbian 3/Anna may be lacking in some respects compared to other competitor's OS, the 12MP Carl Zeiss camera remains as a feature that is yet to be beaten by any smartphones IMO.
And for the fact that the "ancient" N8 is in my shortlist. Will most likely get one once the model is preloaded with the latest Symbian Anna. |

Let's face it. I wanted the N8 for it's camera and OVI Maps. Everything else lose out to iPhone and Andriod, namely, scrolling smoothness, speed and ease of use. These are facts.

QUOTE(sklchan @ Aug 10 2011, 05:29 PM) It's OK not to have features the competitor don't have. Having tried them all, I would say the smoothness and ease of use of iPhone/Andriod over Nokia is huge and should be no surprise why Nokia market share is dropping like a stone. |

Speed, ease of use, iOS and Android pwns N8 kaw2. (Although I'm not very agreeing with the smooth part. I do felt that my N8 and E6 zooms past my Galaxy Tab in smoothness, although the tab makes up with its function)Still, I dont consider my N8 to be that ancient to the realm of unuseable. Yes. the browser is crap. I can attest to that, but Opera Mobile is very2 good. Yes, its no eye candy, but for me, and some of us, its form over function. As long as its working for some, doesnt mean others should shove the fact that its already outdated etc2. I still happily using my outdated Sony Clie and N810, does being ancient ruled out their functions? Their usage? And my N8 aint ancient, as long as its being supported by the manufacturer. To each and their own IMHO. Ps: After weeks of using Galaxy Tab, I still dont know all the hype behind Android TBH. Its really functional, really great app wise, but still, I felt that its just a glorified Symbian. Hey, just my 2c QUOTE(BuFung @ Aug 10 2011, 05:26 PM) Considering its 3gen behind CPU, it sure can do a lot! Using some of the logics here, my outdated, ancient, Fujitsu Livebook P Series running Transmeta Crusoe CPU at 800mhz should be dead by now. The last time I've checked, nope, its still chugging along nicely, with its outdated WinXP SP1. I can still do my works there. But wait, its already ancient rite? Outdated plus more! |

I find it does not response to my finger motion sometimes, example, from Home Screen 1 to 2. No such problem with the iPhone or Andriod I tried. And do you get "out of memory" problem if you have OVI Maps, Camera, Photo Gallery, one Microsoft document viewer and Opera Mini switched on?
